It’s not often that I wish to be older. However, had I just turned sixty instead of fifty-nine I’d be eligible for the senior rate on the European rail system.

I met ITP-Reader Barb for lunch yesterday and we discussed the days prior to the actual BRAG multi-day ride. Since I arrive a few days prior to the rest of the crew I will try to spend three days in Germany and meet them in Brussels on the day after they arrive.

Last night I decided to stay out of the heat by not riding. Instead, I stayed at home and planned for my upcoming trip, and researched changing cellphone carriers.

This morning I am going to get out into the front yard and push my hipster mower around. I still need to adjust it to get a better mow, but it will be good enough for me.

Wordle: four, my starter was STORM (it was a shitty starter the past two days, so it has to be a great starter today, right?)
Connections: two mistakes, X > Purple > X > Yellow > Green > Blue

Wordle in 4 starting with CANDY. Connections: X, X, P, G, B, Y. No issues with Strands once I figured out the first word.

Verizon for international use is $10.00 a day. Still trying to figure out the weather and how much to pack. We will be off season as I figure April is the season to go with all the tulips in bloom. I am a senior….yay…senior perks.

I have a rare Friday off so I’m meeting my friend Janice at Kennesaw this morning for a run. After that, I suppose I should finish up yard work I haven’t been able to get to due to the rains.

Hope Bob has a fun family camping getaway before Travis goes back to school. Cobb County schools started yesterday and so has the traffic. I love the summer traffic much better.

Summer in Europe is still going to be the busy/expensive season, especially since the northern half of the US doesn’t go back to school until after Labor Day.

      • I tried booking four nights in a hotel and flinched when I saw the total. I know I will be spending a lot of money on this trip, which would be easier to swallow if I had an income of the likes I used to have.

Thanks for the heads up!! This trip may be my new bike! 🙂

    Wordle in five.

After work yesterday I had it down to the tag office and gave them a check for 1200 bucks and they gave me a new tag. I also performed a little transmission magic. It’s basically a cheat code for the transmission I took it for a drive last night, and it seem to work a little better.

I’m off shortly to pick up the hydraulic controller from the repair place and hopefully get it installed this morning.

  3. In from mowing and edging. Becoming really disappointed with my weed whacker because I can’t seem to get it to put out the proper amount of line. It doesn’t have a bump spool, so bopping it on the ground isn’t the answer. I need to fire out what is, because I’ve stockpiled about ten spools of line.

I’m jealous of you all for your BRAG trip. I love an adventure! Planning for the adventure is almost as fun too since you get to pre-live the trip.

Ramble last night was in Woodstock, we rambled from Reformation brewing over to rope mill. I split from the crowd when we popped out of the trail and they wanted to head further north. I was spent and melting in the heat. Woodstock has a good thing going with their town square, tons of people out, live music, great vibe.

Post ramble we talked about not having a big trip in the hopper. So this was brought up again. May try to do a Vermont trip in the fall 🙂

Damn, Bob that looks like fun!

    • Barb says:

Bob – I’m the opposite – I get very stressed trying to plan for the adventure – I want to find the “best” hotel for us, there are too many choices & my brain starts to explode. Etc., etc. Once we are there – then I will finally have fun.

Woodstock is great – but the parking up there is not enough for all the people that want to be there. We did find that parking at Woofstock Park maybe a mile from the area works well – as long as you are ok walking that distance.

      • Bob says:

There is a quote “Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good”. I wouldn’t stress too much about finding the best, at the end of the day all you need is a roof over your head. The road provides and I’m sure whatever you pick will be just fine. I’m sure there will be some embracing of the chaos necessary on this trip 🙂

        • Sally says:

Yeah, I’ve stayed in some sketchy hotels but I don’t spend much time in them as I am always out and about.

      • Jenka says:

I’m with Bob, I loooooooove the planning stage almost as much as the trip itself. And it gives me great satisfaction when a trip goes according to plan!

        • David says:

That’s because everything works perfectly in the planning stage, amiright? 😉 Seriously, though, the planning and anticipation is such a huge part of any trip for me too.

      • David says:

Oh, Barb, you’ve been hanging out with Paulie way too long. 😉 😉 😉 I am totally with Bob on this. I have accepted that I am going to make human errors in life, but I also fully embrace that I can make course corrections like a motherfucker. Accordingly, it is so much easier to just roll with the changes these days. It’s so easy to get caught up in analysis-paralysis.

And a lunch with two out of the three July birthdays ain’t bad (apologies to Meat Loaf). 😉

        • Barb says:

well – when it is just me & Allan (& in the USA), I’m not so worried. But – I’m not a seasoned world traveler…….

and reading the reviews start to make it worse sometimes – this place is awesome, the same place has bed bugs, its a rabbithole I don’t want to go down.

          • Jenka says:

It is definitely an art form to be able to read between the lines on hotel reviews. Once you get used to it you can tell when a bad review is written by an asshole or when it’s legit.

    • Vermont is a great place to ride, well, road ride. It can be very hilly, and make sure the areas you are planning to go haven’t been damaged by recent flooding. However, if you want to drink good beer, read “not Busch Light”, Vermont is a great place to go!

  5. Jenka says:

OMG! It looks like the elevator replacement might be done! The scary “DON’T USE THE ELEVATOR” signs are still up so I took the stairs, but our facilities person says it passed inspection and she’s been using it all morning. Woot!

  6. I picked ten MASSIVE okra pods this morning. You are thinking “woody”, I am thinking “seeds for next year”. 😀

  7. It has gotten warm, and close to lunchtime so I have quit outdoor work for the day and have taken a lovely shower.

  8. Just saw the neighborhood hawk fly through WLF. Apparently there were no critter snacks in the farm for today’s lunch

  9. Steve says:

Picked up and installed the hydraulic controller for the tractor and it works perfectly. $150 well spent.

I thought I read that women’s road race was today, but it looks like Sunday. Men tomorrow. Then track next week! Can’t wait.
