Happy August!

While I was in Iowa the City of Atlanta (or the Georgia DOT) installed one of those new, annoyingly bright street lamps a few houses down from mine. Fortunately there are some trees which manage to obscure the blast of white light from my house. I feel sorry for those who receive the direct hit. I also wonder what our obsession with eliminating darkness will do to animals and plants as time marches on. (I know there must be research which says this is a terrible thing for us to do, but that hasn’t stopped the Human Race from imposing its will on the environment, no matter how detrimental to our own existence.)

Wordle: three, my starter was STORM (it was such a bad starter yesterday, it must be better today)
Connections: perfect, Blue > Purple > Green > Yellow

Wordle in 2!! A non-standard starter that did very well.

The line of storms was passing south of Atlanta yesterday afternoon. I finally caught up to it and traffic was appropriately slowed. No pasture mowing for me.

In researching my transmission woes, I found a process to reset the transmission’s brains which I will apply later today after I return from the tag office.

35 minutes on the trainer while watching triathlon. The men had to be restarted because a boat was 20 yards from the start line and no one seemed to notice?? IT’S RIGHT THERE!! The athletes got back on the dock and most seemed to be laughing.

Wordle in 4 starting with SANDY. Connections: g, p, b, y. Had to think for a minute about Strands.

Light pollution is bad for migratory and nocturnal birds such as your owls. And of course sea turtles are affected by the light. A lot of your National Parks are going to Dark Sky Parks. They work to protect them from the increasingly prevalent light pollution. I am guessing someone on the street complained about it being too dark and susceptible to crime so they pushed to get a light installed.

Had a great turnout last night for West Stride’s 16th birthday. Everything was 16% off so we were quite busy until 8. Public Enema and Saddle Sores came in too. Nice catching up with them. Hope everyone has a great day. Tomorrow is Friday after all.

A happy Thursday to everyone! I have a new boss today! Coincidentally I have to leave early on his first official day as dean because I have my monthly therapy session at 4:00. LOL.

Minnie Brew has dropped off her gravel bike – finally got her parts in.
She liked RAGBRAI, but likes the official rest stops of BRAG better.

Found out yesterday some propane tanks are too old to refill at 3 Way Camper.
Looks like we might have to invest in a new tank or 2. I didn’t realize they have an expiration date.

    • Sal says:

They can be refilled if you find someone that doesn’t care about liabilities. U-haul will not refill past expiration date. 3 Way Camper used to. Just run your old ones down and then exchange.

    • I have an ancient tank. Some day I will figure out what connection I need for the Blackstone and go somewhere to swap it for a new one which is filled.

      • Bob says:

Do you have the 2 burner model Blackstone that uses the small green tanks? You can get a hose that goes from a large tank to the regulator you normally screw the green tank in to. It is pretty cheap on Amazon.

        • Yes, that is what I have. I bought the adapter to connect to a full-size propane tank, but keep forgetting to look at it to see if I need a tank with a male or female connection.

    • Bob says:

Ace hardware is the same, they allow a buffer past the date but once you reach that they won’t touch it. Like Sal said, go to a tank exchange place and get a newer one.

connections – got caught up in 5words that worked for the green category.

    But – wordle in 3.

Strands- its just not my game –

  6. I was getting to wrap up my morning in WLF when I saw a hawk land in one of the trees in the front of the ITP Estate, so that made my decision for me. Donā€™t want to hinder the local critter muscle. šŸ˜‰

  7. Looking into getting an International Data Plan from ATT for the Europe trip. Apparently, itā€™s $12/day. Fuck me!

Also, noticed that ATT keeps nickel and diming me for text messages when I have an ā€œunlimitedā€ text messaging plan.

I have decided to kick ATT to the curb when I return from Europe because I am tired of ATTā€™s bullshit. Hopefully T-Mobile will meet all of my needs.
