While Barb and Allan were making the utterly complicated dinner of a timpano, last night I did nearly the opposite by heating up a can of refried beans with a can or Rotel stirred into them, along with some diced WLF tomatoes and jalapeños, and ate that with some rice that I made in my InstantPot. Okay, now that I have typed this my dinner was not as simplistic as I thought, but still, it was no timpano!

Yesterday’s excitement included watching a local hawk fly through WLF, and then seeing a large branch drop from a neighbor’s tree into WLF. I have identified the branch the fell as problematic, but thankfully it did little damage as it fell into an area in which nothing is planted.

I’m getting close to being ready for the RAGBRAI trip. Doing laundry today to have clean cycling kits, and will finish my packing tonight.

I received an email from Peacock today informing me of (another?) price increase. I just renewed my annual subscription in June, so the $20 increase won’t hit until then, at which time I will have to determine if Peacock sans ads is worth $140/year to me.

Wordle: four, my starter was FIGHT
Connections: one mistake, Yellow > X > Blue > Green > Purple

  1. Oh wow. The other night we were joking about RAGBRAI and Mr Pork Chop and I was told that Mr Pork Chop Jr died this year. I thought the person was mistaken, but no it’s true, Mr Pork Chop Jr died in March. I wonder if there will be a Mr Pork Chop truck this year. Thankfully, from what I can see on FB without having to log in it appears that the truck will be at RAGRAI again this year.

    • Barb says:

yes – the main guy – Mr Pork Chop (I guess Jr) died, but the family has rallied to make sure it bus & people are out there cooking.

    Wordle in 4.

    If there isn’t a Mr. Pork Chop, I ain’t going!! Oh, wait…

Eye doctor is not bothered by anything he saw and a little annoyed that he and I can’t get the computer glasses he prescribed right. No worries- I pretty much seeing 20/20 without glasses and just need them for close up. Like looking at my laptop while I type.

Nice solo win yesterday. I had been on FB, so knew the outcome, but still was interesting to see how it developed. 30 minutes on the trainer.

Still no rain. Better chance today? We shall see.

World in 4 starting with DAILY. Connections: g,y,p,b. Once again Strands was pretty easy if doing it on the computer. 🙂

The Timpano looked pretty intensive. Glad it turned out okay.

I’ll pack for RagBrai tomorrow when I return home from house and dog sitting. Hopefully I won’t forget anything.

Hoping Bob and crew bowled well last night.

  4. Barb says:

Timpano came out excellent, even though we forgot a couple of the layers.
The making of the dough was the toughest part, since if that wasn’t right, how do you fill it up?
then all the layers, the meat sauce was actually made the day before, boiling 2 different types of noodles, we used store bought meatballs, had to cook some Italian sausage.
We forgot to add the hard boiled egg layer, and we had some prosciutto we forgot to add.

  5. Bob says:

Good times bowling last night, first game was terrible but came back with a 191 in the second. Travis rolled a 164 game and Laura was consistently over 120. Our new friend Larry kept to his average too so we took 4 points from the second place team and somehow put us in third place.

RAGBRAI packing is almost complete, bag with tent and stuff is done and kits are all in separate baggies. Now just throw that and some clothes in the second bag and I’m ready to roll! Not looking forward to that bus ride but can’t wait for the new adventure.

    • You are further along than I am. Kits will be baggied up today, and today/tomorrow I will decide what clothing will make the trip.

Did you have tickets to that disappointing Atlanta United draw last night?

  6. Back from the Waschsalon, and post office. I remembered that I was supposed to mail back my old Apple Card, it’s made from titanium (I think), in the prepaid envelope Apple provided.

  7. Barb says:

Finally ordered a new credit card – went with the Capitol One card that gives cash back, realized I have an old savings account there – trying to figure out what that account was. (it had .77 cents in it)
Decided I don’t want to mess with another credit card with travel rewards – too much to have to remember to do.

  8. Jenka says:

We got a nice soaking rainstorm yesterday afternoon around 3:30. I lounged around the house all day trying to watch The Crown over all the leaf blowers and wood chippers going in the neighborhood. Then we went to Wisteria for dinner. More of the same today, whee!

  9. Bob says:

Looking at the RAGBRAI facebook page there are SO many people saying “stop for beer here” “stop for bacon wrapped smoked twinkies here” “stop for this amazing party here”
It is sort of overwhelming and my FOMO is starting to peak 🙂

  10. Bob says:

    Lunch time pre-bowling for next week was a success. 180, 161, 212
Pre-bowling is great because you can get in to a rhythm but rolling 3 games back to back with no breaks is tough, you start to sweat a bit and fingers start getting stuck in the ball.
    Still fun!
