It’s Prime Day(s) and while traveling to Iowa for RAGBRAI is certainly going to cost me money, it will also be saving me money because I can’t order anything from Amazon during the next few days since I won’t be home to receive any purchases.

Last night for dinner I pulled all of the beets from WLF and roasted them along with some WLF potatoes that I had in storage. This is the first year that I have successfully grown beets! I roasted enough for multiple meals, and last night I ate a bunch along with a patty melt that I made using ingredients that I am using up before heading to Iowa.

I hope to ride tonight to give my tube replacement a stress test. Certainly I will be packing plenty of tubes and CO2 cartridges in case I have flats in Iowa, but it would be nice to have a higher confidence in my handiwork before I depart.

    Wordle in 4.

For all the rain the city appeared to get yesterday, we got damn near none on the farm. It would get to Luthersville and stop. I thought about riding last evening, but the showers were so close, I expected them to be a problem. Even thought about putting the road bike on the trainer, but I just can’t pull that trigger.

If you find you need something delivered, just send it to the farm. No one is crazy enough to be a porch pirate where we live. Too far off the road and too easy to never be found!

    Wordle in 6. Connections: p, y, b, g. Strands a breeze.
Still dog sitting Rory. Staying at her house. Tonight there will be a Taco truck in the neighborhood. I plan to purchase my dinner there.

I guess storms knocked out power in my neighborhood last night. I plan to go check on it sometime today since I am not working. I should get on the bike and ride at least once before RAGBRAI but not in the mood to gather the equipment and drive to the Silver Comet. I’ll be riding a lot next week anyways. Won’t make the GUTS run tonight either. It doesn’t fit into the dog’s schedule. Senior dogs are hard but she is really sweet.

Hope Barb has a fun and safe trip home today…riding in 1st class!

0245 to leave the house at 0300 was way too early for a 0600am flight. But – my friend got a flooded basement int eh storm last night, and I didn’t want to risk having Uber/Lyft not show that early, so I just got a ride from my brother going to work. People get there way too early for flights – its such a small place.

The 1st class seat is nice – even if its only a 1.5 hr flight

They finally fixed the results for the Peachtree Road Race. I ended up 3rd in my age group. I’ll take that. 🙂

    Taxiing around the airport tarmac.

Watched American Fiction- pretty good movie!

  5. Looking at all of the camping and biking stuff I am taking to RAGBRAI. It’s nearly identical to what I packed for BRAG, but it seems like so much more!

    • Barb says:

did you all discuss how to pack your stuff for the bus?
Team Wimpy used to require everyone to use Rubbermaid totes (think of my garage) so they would stack nicely & not waste space.

      • Bob says:

There are only 12 of us so our bags shouldn’t be a problem (I hope :-))
I’m a professional stacker so will be able to get them all to fit.

      • I think of that every time I am in the Garage Mahal. Eight years ago I may have taken one large bag? However, for that trip BRAG provided a tent and air mattress.

Hello from Savannah! We have had a good time celebrating Kevin’s sister’s birthday yesterday. We went to a hotel on Henderson Island and rented a cabana by the pool. Mid-afternoon thunderstorms rolled in so we had to leave early, but it was fun while it lasted. After the storms the temp cooled way down so we sat out on their back porch all evening enjoying it. Flying home later this afternoon.

3 days away from RAGBRAI! I’m getting excited!
Started packing but need to stop before I bring EVERYTHING.
I did a 40 mile ride on Sunday with 2 beer stops so I call that training complete. Looking at the maps looks like the longest we will have to ride is about 12 miles before stopping (there is an 18 mile section but it is all downhill so not counting it).
Logistics are sort of crazy with picking up Tim in STL and Chris’s kid at the start. Hopefully that all works out.

    • Barb says:

what time are you meeting Friday & where?
I can’t remember what I volunteered to do – was I not thinking I’d be working Friday? I can still maybe help with something.
At least be part of the send off party.

Tell Tim to meet you at the Arch. 😉

      • Bob says:

We are meeting at the Acworth park and ride. Bus leaves at 7 so I plan to be there at 6. We have not had any carpool conversations, I plan to just leave my truck there. We are getting back around 3AM so don’t want to rely on anybody to be there for us.

We are picking up Tim in New Baden IL. It is just east of STL and it is on the way home from Burlington IA so he can leave a car there.

    • Bob, who’s bringing a pump? (I guess I could ask this in our group text).

I saw Stan last night, the hash knocked on my door, and I joined them at the beer stop and Midway pub. Sounds as if he and I are going to carpool to the Acworth park and ride.

  8. Bob says:

Sammy Hagar playing at AmerisBank tonight, I may have to onewheel up there for a bit.

  9. Steve says:

Glad to see all the plans coming into place. I expect lots of stories and pictures from you ALL next week. And a special award if any of you best Pushover dancing live on “Good Morning America”.
