On Saturday morning I talked myself out of going for a bike ride. This is where having an accountability partner would be beneficial. And that’s completely on me…

Because I wasn’t out on the road I was able to watch Saturdays stage of the Tour de France, and my remote control’s Mute button got a workout as Peacock/NBC inundated us with commercials prior to the riders getting to the mountains.

I managed to make my Saturday productive, however. I reorganized all of my bike shit, and packed almost everything except clothing for my journey to RAGBRAI.

On Saturday night I was going to watch the Atlanta United match, but then reflecting on how I felt that the club has given up on this season by selling their best offensive players, I decided to give up in their season as well. Instead I watched the finale of “The Bear”, and that’s all I have to say about that.

Yesterday was a day of fun and more choring.

Today I am going to cleaning out plants from WLF which have passed their prime, in part thanks to the brutal heat we’ve experienced.

Wordle: five, my starter was HABIT
Connections: perfect, Purple > Blue > Yellow > Green

    Wordle in 3!

Saturday’s ride for me was only 16 miles, but as I only started around 10:30, it was already hot. I did arrange my ride to take advantage of shade where I could, but by the time I got home, I had melted completely.

Both TdF stages this weekend were amazing displays of strength. Being able to simply ride away from the competition, even when they know it’s coming is incredible. Glad to see Cav still making the time cut, but just barely…

Other than that, there were chores and a few more chores..

Wordle in 4 starting with PLACE. Connectioins: y, b, g, p. I thought I had purple first but couldn’t get that 4th word. Struggled with Strands.

I worked at the store on Saturday and then started dogsitting for a senior Beagle. She is really sweet but has a hard time getting around so I take on her on walks pushing her in a buggy. She loves to get outside. :). I am also staying at their house. They live in a complex of cluster homes with two pools but I have yet to utilize the amenity.

Hashed yesterday. It was really hot and approx 6-7 miles. I got stung multiple times by yellow jackets. My arm is still red and still hurts.

I will return home Friday afternoon and will have to do all my packing for RAGBRAI. Hopefully I won’t forget anything. I hope the weather cools down next week.

  3. Stopping for a hydration break.

Talked myself out of riding again today, but in service of WLF. I’ve been toiling since 7am. Clearing out a bunch of rampant tiny tomato plants because I can no longer walk in my paths, and they provide shelter for unwelcome critters.

I talked to a couple of hashers yesterday at a gathering and mentioned while I miss the comaraderie (I can’t spell that word!) of hashing, I certainly don’t miss the heat/cold, poison ivy, yellow jackets, and ticks!

  4. Just loaded all of the RAGBRAI overnight towns into the weather app I use. I will resist the urge to put much credence in the forecast until much to the date, but this will make me reconsider some of my packing techniques.

this week in CR (since I’m leaving tomorrow early morning) is going to be much more reasonable temps. still 90+ today.

put laundry on the clothesline – a belt in the dryer broke, and the place I went to to get it won’t have it in until tomorrow.

typical weekend here in Iowa, ran a couple errands & hung out in the AC with mom & dad wearing blankets & jackets.

watched some WNBA – Indiana Bever is the team to watch due to Caitlin Clark.
did see Spain win the Euro Cop – did not stay up to see Argentina win the Copa Cup. I did see Messi get hurt though, thought it was the typical flop, but it wasn’t. Watched plenty of golf & baseball too. Mom sleeps ALOT, I feel like we need to make her be awake more, but she can’t do anything, so why.

    • Funny, it was the opposite for me in Florida. The Florida house AC struggled mightily in the summer and I could never get the house cool. I wound up wearing shorts and light t-shirts when my mother and I would sit around the house.

I turned on the Euro Cup just before Spain scored their second goal.

Didn’t even know that the Copa America final was on. I heard about the Messi injury, but haven’t looked into it yet.
