Barb, you nearly got your Seated referral bonus last night. With a free night, and the desire to treat myself after riding, I was going to have dinner out. Unfortunately (for you) I was ravenous early and decided to eat leftovers at home. That being said, I may have lunch out today…

Yesterday I watched the penultimate episode of season three of The Bear. I will be interested to hear what other people think about this season.

Wordle: four, my starter was ACORN
Connections: one mistake, Yellow > X > Purple > Green > Blue

  1. Ugh, failing so badly in Duolingo this morning that I quit well before achieving my first goal for the day. Stupid German language! 🙂

Wordle in 6! Started with LIGHT. Almost didn’t pull it off but there weren’t a lot of letters left to choose from. One mistake in connections: p,y, b, g.

Annual physical this morning. Otherwise not much going on. Jasper goes home tonight and I get Rory starting tomorrow.

Have a great week-end. I may or may not hash on Sunday. I may go to Marist and watch some of the 1 x 100 relay as they try to break the world record.

Good morning from Luthersville!! We’re glad to be home, but damn it was a great vacation! We drove around towards Boston, landed in Salem, toured the “House of the Seven Gables”, had a little seafood lunch nearby, then drove and stumbled on some horse country (who knew?) very close to the water in Ipswitch.

We decided to head to the airport, as we had the car to return, but getting that last mile into the lot took 45 minutes! WHAT A MONUMENTAL CLUSTER FCK! There is one tunnel closed for the month, but the amount of traffic was still off the charts. We just kept our cool and knew we were not in a rush. Breathe in, breathe out…

Glad to be back in our own bed and have sweet dogs to love on.

LOL! Now you know why I’ve been flying in and out of Hartford instead lately.

      • Steve says:

We talked about those options, but the cost might make it prohibitive. Does commuter rail serve the airport? That might be a better option. Most of our planning for summers up there did involve winning the lottery, so cost may not be an issue!

        • Jenka says:

The commuter rail goes to Government Station or State Street and you switch to the blue line from there — it’s pretty easy actually.

Your other option is to fly straight into Portland. Get that lottery ticket!

          • Jenka says:

Shit, it’s been so long since I rode the commuter rail I forgot where it ends. It actually ends at North Station, so you’d have to transfer to the orange line to State and then transfer to the blue line to the airport. And once you get to the airport station you transfer to a bus that takes you the last mile to the airport. It sounds like a lot but it would be totally doable if you didn’t have a ton of luggage. And the Newburyport rail will take you all the way to the Maine border.

          • Jenka says:

            *NH border, but same difference.

Against my better judgment I did leave the house yesterday, putting on clothes was a real hardship. But I didn’t want to cook and I didn’t want to do dishes, so we took Finn to Osteria for dinner. They have a Brussels sprouts appetizer that he will actually eat. Then we watched 3 episodes of The Amazing Race. I like a lot of these competitors!

  5. Barb says:

    wordle in 4 –
But as usual recently – wasn’t feeling Connections – so I gave up after getting yellow & green.

  6. Barb says:

I did leave the house yesterday- twice!
once to return Amazon stuff at Kohls & a quick stop at Aldi in the morning.
Then – ran to Target & Old Navy to see if I could find a tshirt type of dress – since getting mom in pants or shorts is extra challenging with her not really being able to even stand.

Might go meet a high school friend for a happy hour glass of wine tonight

  7. Sitting in a jungle that is WLF. I’m constantly amazed by WLF, especially by the volunteer plants that arrive each year. Somehow I just sowed seeds for winter crops!

I did a litter pickup walk to get coffee this morning. The village was really clean so the cleanup crew must have beaten me to the punch today; not complaining…

Upon returning home I remembered that I wanted to mow the lawn, so I did. Hipster mower still needs to be adjusted so that it will cut better.

RAGBRAI departure is a week away. I replaced the rear tube yesterday, there was a pinhole in the one I took off, in preparation for another crack at a fifty mile ride tomorrow.

  8. Trying to decide if I want to treat myself to lunch or dinner out today.

  9. Timed today’s TdF stage improperly. I sat down to watch the conclusion, and it had already ended.

  10. Crap, Apple has announced that Severance will return for season two in January. I feel as if we’ve been waiting forever already!

  11. Lunch at Wrecking Bar, pastrami sandwich with fries, and some quantity of beer. 😉

    • Home from a multi-beer, $65 including tip, lunch (also bringing home a $12 four pack of beer). I *think* Barb will get $20 for my visit. I got $27 back from Seated ($20 first time bonus, $7 based on my bill), and hoping to get another $5 back from Upside.
