I’ve finally become a farmer/gardener with too much zucchini! Yes, my lone spaghetti squash has been compromised, and now turned into compost, but I harvested five zucchini on Saturday. I don’t know how many more zucchini will be produced, my garden tends to get slaughtered by squash vine borers and powdery mildew, so this may be it for me. With the zucchini I have in the refrigerator I have made a zucchini meatloaf (poorly, since I added far too much zucchini), and intend to make some zucchini bread today.

The rest of WLF is doing surprisingly well given how much I have ignored it, and the brutal heat and lack of rain. I have my first sunflower (one, or two which haven’t succumbed), and harvested my first onion yesterday!

Happy belated birthday greetings, ITP-Reader Jenka.

Wordle in 6. Saturday’s Wordle was a near ace- when I whiffed with one of my usual starters STAIN, I used my follow up word of PROUD and that was it. Damn.

Saturday was a full day of work. It went well, but there was a lot of re-cabling involved. And some firewall issues that were only imaginary. An inch and a half of rain Saturday evening was welcome, but apparently pretty uncommon around Atlanta.

Sunday, an early breakfast at Flying Biscuit in PTC. We were there just after 0900 and were quickly seated. By the time we left, the benches and cars were full. SCORE!
Some mowing, a little scooter maintenance, and otherwise a quiet day.

    • 1.5” of rain? WLF hasn’t seen that much in nearly two weeks. I am doing my best to keep it watered by using sprinklers before sunrise and some from the water I have stored in rain barrels.

  2. I watched the Braves game on tv yesterday and was thoroughly confused why people put their hand/hat over their heart when “God Bless America” was sung (at least I think that was the song sung since the audio was off) during the seventh inning stretch. Last time I checked “God Bless America” is not the National Anthem, so this action is not necessary, or necessarily appropriate. What am I missing?

speaking of baseball – why the heck were the Red Sox wearing bright yellow jerseys the other night? (trying to look like the Savannah Bananas?)

I know our resident Sox expert Jenka is off on vacation, so not sure if she will be here to answer.

    I’m back in GA!

It was bittersweet to leave – I’m pretty sure I’ll be back up there in July for a bit – but I’m happy to be home.
0415am was too early Sunday – wanted to take a nap when I got home, but a long ago moved away friend was in town, so I went to watch her son play baseball & catch up with her.
Dinner with the in-laws & Allan at the OK Cafe last night. (Didn’t see John 😉

I think lunch is his thing! And I was thinking about OKC myself. It’s been too long. As has Tasty China!

    • Welcome home!

I understand as each time I drove away, especially with my mother standing at her door waving goodbye, I wondered if it would be the last time I saw her.

I also think HwC is a lunch patron at Ok Cafe; I think his breakfast spot is Pastries a Go Go in Decatur — not that he’s a creature of habit. 😉

And speaking of former blog regulars, there was a Lurker sighting at Tequilero los Hermanos for Friday night HHH. Ummm shrimp corn chowder!

PAGG has a new owner! The folks that own the Thai place on the square.
After like 30 years, former owner Bob Light hung it up.
Basically, the same menu, a fresh coat of paint, brighter, maybe better.

Disclaimer: We do not go to OK Cafe as much anymore. Occasionally for Sunday breakfast or lunch during the week.
        Too long a drive.

BTW: If you haven’t already, check out “A Place For Mom dot com”
Very helpful for all levels of resources like Assisted Living, etc.
Super helpful for us when my mother was transitioning from condo to Assisted Living, etc.
      Free.

      • Barb says:

        thanks John.
We’ve looked into so many places for assistance -that’s another to look into.

I thought about it, as Debbie wanted something other than WH!! ???? but we had no other business in the city.

        • Other than Waffle House? W, T, and F?!?! 🙂

          • Steve says:

            IK,R?

And I’ve decided, though I do not have any empirical evidence, WH keeps other small breakfast locations from entering the market, at least the Atlanta market simply by market share.

          • Barb says:

waffle house is always a good choice.
All Star breakfast for way too much food.

I do like their version of a cheese steak melt – but – I want on regular toast, not texas toast. That’s my go to item right now.

          • Texas Patty Melt is my normal breakfast, but in Milledgeville I had the hash brown bowl with sausage and it was quite delicious.

OH, I forgot I have news. George’s is closed all this week for a movie set!!

Hello from the Skyclub in D concourse of the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport! We had some technical glitch that prevented us from checking in on the app so we had to get here early and check in with an actual attendant. He gave us PAPER boarding passes! How quaint. Once we checked in the app started working so thankfully I don’t have to fuss with paper when boarding.

I had a great weekend. Saturday we went for family mani-pedis and then Pure for lunch. Sunday I vegged out watching Netflix all day. It was my birthday and that’s all I wanted to do! Kevin took Finn to his mom’s and we went to Sotto Sotto for birthday dinner. I went to bed early in anticipation of a travel day today. Wheeeeeeeee!

    • Steve says:

Sounds wonderful. A very happy birthday (+1) and wonderful vaca.

I had problems checking in 1 time when I used a companion ticket – or maybe when I used the regional upgrade. I called the medallion phone line – they fixed it.
And – side note – I read a post about a guy complaining that Delta doesn’t have the hard stock paper anymore for boarding passes – he doesn’t like the flimsy paper ones. (what a complaint – he needs them all for his scrapbook – the flimsy ones fade away)
