It was a beautiful day for a baseball game, especially if you know to ask to purchase a seat in the shade. I did just that, and to my surprise I sat in the wrong seat (one row further back) and was sandwiched between two older couples who were season ticket holders. One couple lives in Kitchener Ontario, and the other close to Niagara Falls. My previous interest in Canada allowed me to converse with the couples, and I think I may have amazed one of the men when I mentioned that I went to high school here in a Dunedin with Toronto Argonaut (Canadian Football League) legend Michael “Pinball” Clemens. I did consume one, Labatt Blue for $9, just for old time sake.

The rest of my day was spent gathering my possessions to load up into the M6 for today’s journey. I leave the Florida House after spending almost eighteen days here, and contemplating a return in three weeks in order to finish some more tasks. I don’t know if I have spent this long of a chunk of time away from the ITP Estate previously, and I have some reticence about returning home.

Time to focus on making some life changes, my long drive home will give me plenty of time to contemplate them.

Wordle: four, my starter was STEAM

Wordle in 4, my starter was no help.

Another long day at the mill yesterday. We’re making progress on our upcoming work this weekend. Hopefully it will go well.

We started watching the latest season of Will Trent last night. Well done, funny, based here. A fun watch.

I was so busy yesterday, lunch was chips and dip about 3! Grrrrr…

Half hour on the trainer last night.

I’ve read most of the Will Trent books. The first one absolutely blew my mind to be reading about a character going places in Atlanta and and driving on streets I’ve been on a million times. The author’s name is Karin Slaughter. About half of her books involve Will Trent, the others have other characters.

Safe travels, Paulie! Send pics from Buc-ee’s.

For those of you interested in the soup I made on Sunday, here’s the recipe:
    https://cooktopcove.com/2024/01/29/my-hubbys-words-this-soup-is-outrageously-yummy-/?src=fbfan_77476&t=fbsub_slowcookerkitchenstory

I used kale instead of spinach because it doesn’t disintegrate. And of course I included celery because every soup in the world starts with celery.

    • Barb says:

That looks so similar to what I did, with a lot more ingredients.
I think I got the recipe I made from some super simple recipe website.
I’m sure yours had a much better overall flavor – I might have to try this one someday.

    • Jenka says:

HAH, I just realized that this recipe does have celery in it. I think I am confusing it with another soup I made recently that didn’t have celery in the recipe.

  3. Barb says:

    off to the dentist shortly

FedEx showed up with my wine shipment – had to SCAN my ID.
that’s a 1st in all my years of getting wine delivered.
I asked if he had to breathalyze me too – he laughed & said – I’m sure that is next.

  4. Barb says:

I’m also getting some class action something from Delta, got an email I’m getting $91.92.
I opted for the Amazon gift card

Fucking Conniptions, I had blue and green and then went down in flames. I only narrowly averted the Wordle cliff. Mama said there’d be days like this. Well, not my mother, but I hear tell that mother who cared did.

Chapter 5 of my 7th book is almost out of my head and off to the editors. 8 to go, 8 to go. My way of dealing with writer’s block is to sign a contract yet another book. Gotta keep the pressure on. 😉 The 8th book is an annual update, and last year after four editions under my name I finally got that book to a good place where I can spend far less time on it this year, which is how books that get updated annually are supposed to work. I know this from my 15+ years of technical editing helped me work my way into the big chair.

I’ll be spending 3 nights in 29 Palms starting this Saturday, which is one of the towns near Joshua Tree. I have a line on an amazing restaurant that is only open 4 days a week and that people start lining up at at 10:00 AM for the 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM hours, so my Sunday morning plan is set. After I pick up my rental car I’m driving to Santa Monica first to get my feet wet, and then I’ll go inland to Joshua Tree. I definitely need to get away.

    • Barb says:

what a silly name for a town – 29 Palms
(I be there more than 29)

Sounds like an awesome trip – I need to get out there someday

      • David says:

It’s definitely a wacky name. I’m not going to bother to count, I’ll just take their word for it. 😉

    • Jenka says:

It does sound like an awesome trip. Sounds dumb, but I was completely obsessed with the U2 album The Joshua Tree back when it came out, so I’ve always wanted to see it.

      • David says:

That album definitely had it’s moment. U2 is so over saturated in my brain that I could never hear another of their songs again, and that would still be too soon.

        • Bob says:

I am 100% with you on this David. Because of this I really dislike U2 and it blows people’s minds when I say that. Their songs are good but I am totally fine with never hearing them again.

      • I can only listen to very early U2, Boy, October, etc, even Joshua Tree is on my verboten list.

      • Jenka says:

I know a lot of people feel that way because of their marketing tactics. It’s completely justified!

Wordle in 4 with some outside help.
Perfect Connections with some mind bending lucky guesses.

I had to miss Travis’s soccer game last night because of a work call. It has been a long time since that happened so I can’t get too mad. Hopefully we don’t get any more rain today as I want to take my new bike out for its maiden voyage.
Short week as I’m headed to Asheville on Friday with the neighborhood dads for a drinking weekend at all the breweries up there. Good times will be had!

    Save travels Paulie!

I survived the periodontist without being told I need more expensive dental work!!!
I think I need to buy a lottery ticket.
The cleaning did cost me $300 – dental insurance doesn’t pay for me to go every 3 months. But- if getting these cleaning stops the other crap that seems to happen with my gums – I’ll gladly pay it.

My brother-in-law (in Phoenix) is flying into Savannah today to pick up & drive a truck back to AZ – so we are having dinner with him tonight. I can’t believe his customer couldn’t find a truck closer, but I know nothing about his business.
It will be great to see him, and since its not a small pickup truck (but not an 18 wheeler cab, its somewhere int eh middle), we are going to meet somewhere on Camp Creek for dinner.
Anyone know anything about that area?
I need to study google maps at some point this afternoon.

    • David says:

Camp Creek is full of chain restaurants. Five Guys is the only one I’ve been to, but if you look it up on Google Maps you’ll see a lot of choices.

      • Barb says:

there is a BBQ place, but – I bet they don’t have beer.
I need to find out of Lennie is staying the night nearby – or heading towards Alabama before he sleeps.
that will determine drinking – as Allan is working – so he can’t drink (but I could….)

Wordle in 5. One mistake in Connections – blue, green, yellow, purple.

Settling in to the new job. I love having a lunch hour to get things done.

  9. Sally says:

29 Palms has a huge military presence and a lot of windmills. Hoping Joshua Tree will be nice for you David. The soup looks amazing and heavy on the calories. Definitely will be making that. I like Will Trent. Might have to read the books. Safe Travels Wee. Hope Bob gets to ride.

A little breezy but plan to get on the roof and clean the gutters. Need to also renew my library card. GUTS run tonight. Legs still a little tired from the Publix 1/2 and Black Sheep hash on Sunday.

Was tested for 74 allergens this morning trying to figure out this breathing issue. Reacted to Mugwort and Dog Fennel! Yeah…those two are widely grown. NOT! Still no answers.

Wordle in 5. One mistake in Connections: purple, blue, yellow, green.

  10. Hello from… The ITP Estate.

Yes Jenka, I stopped at Buc-ee’s, but too late to see your picture request. I was on the road before 5:30am, and upon arriving home had to solve an IT issue — though everything appeared correct, I had to reboot everything in order to access the internet. I knew something was up when I couldn’t reach my thermostat while stopped at Buc-ee’s.

I even stopped at a Tractor Supply in Adel to pee, but more importantly buy some seed potatoes. I wrongly believed a Tractor Supply in South Georgia would have a better selection of seed potatoes.

  11. Barb says:

I swear its a full moon or something (I know it is not a full moon) – so many of my shipments today are having crazy problems.

  12. Barb says:

yellow – green – blue – purple – and ZERO mistakes.
Somedays its easy – other days its not. Today was easy.

Wordle in 4 – no more 2s for me!

Jon Stewart shared a story about his dog Dipper who just passed away, and clearly I was in need of a good cry. Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJ_A2BKCNDs
