I apparently missed a helluva Super Bowl ending. When I purchased a new tv for the Florida house on Saturday it never dawned on me that I wouldn’t be able to pick up CBS using an antenna. I was able to watch the first half in Spanish on Univision, but the picture kept breaking up at halftime so I turned the game off.
Wordle: two, my starter was SUPER
Connections: two mistakes (and I struggled a lot), Yellow > Purple > Blue > Green
Sorry, spending time talking with ITP-Reader Ronnie (aka my brother) and forgot it is Monday.
Wordle in 3, yesterday was also in 3. We won’t speak about Conniptions.
We rocked it on Saturday. Starting at 8 and were done by noon. Afternoon nap, then some serious hot tub time. Lifting the switches into place was hard on my back.
Sunday was breakfast at Flying Biscuit in PTC. I get it, but I don’t think it’s all that. Then a trip to Sams Club to join. Costco sells gas but not diesel. Sam’s sells diesel and apparently it’s 30 cents lower than street prices, so the membership will pay for itself. I don’t see a point in having 2 memberships, but we’ll see.
We watched the game and were glad it finally got good. 4th quarter and OT was good football- the rest, not so much.
Debbie just dumped 5 inches out of the rain gauge. And it’s still raining…

I haven’t been impressed by Flying Biscuit in many years. Once it franchised, its appeal for me.
Wow, that’s a lot of rain!
Yeah, I am not a fan of Flying Biscuit either. Definitely not worth the wait on the weekends!
Flying Biscuit is a pale shadow of what it used t be back in the day.
speaking of breakfast – I went to a local place called Oscar’s with a high school friend Sunday morning.
Found out it was owned by another Regis grad that Edy knows, I didn’t really remember her. (I have been gone 40 years & she wasn’t in my class). One of her daughters waited on us – great service even before she knew her mom knew Edy.
and – I need to go make some avocado toast.
In Friday I received an email telling me that a password reset for this blog was request. I doubt that I did this…
PAULIE – didn’t you get some home internet?
Did you even try CBS.com ?
I did get internet, and of course I tried CBS.com. When I tried streaming on my iPad I had to provide a cable/satellite login in order to stream it.
Do you not have access to HULU?
I have Hulu but not live tv Hulu.
I was perhaps naively surprised that I couldn’t pick up CBS using the antenna. I will say it was entertaining watching it in Spanish, and I dare say that the commercial shown we’re not the same shown in CBS.
Years ago, Univision had offices in the Miami Fed building, as their main broadcast facility was just up the street. Every so often, they would have open auditions (cattle calls) and there would be an endless stream of beautiful women. There was also no work getting done by my techs that day.
I was watching something on CBS.com on my iPad, I thought it was going to show the game live. I didn’t read it closely.
Bummer that didn’t work.
My understanding is the game was streamed on Paramount+.
It was, for which I didn’t want start a trial
I beat Paulie this morning to his won blog. lol
I did so good with Wordle this week-end with dueces. It took me 5 guesses this morning starting with ALONE. 3 mistakes in Connections: Yellow, green, blue, purple.
So much rain and still raining. Need to get the dogs out for a walk before work. They don’t mind the rain and take their time smelling everything.
Had a group run from the store Saturday morning. Didn’t get a lot accomplished later in the day. I hashed on Sunday. Pissitcide thought the trail was closer to 7 miles. It was only 2.3 and that’s with the count backs and YBFs. It got everyone home early.
Group run tonight from Stout Brother’s in Smyrna with Asics and the Smyrna run club. Hope it doesn’t get rained out.
Mark Manson’s post this morning and something to think about is Titled “would you date yourself”? I’m not sure I would.
I need to proof read more. I beat Paulie to his own blog…not won blog.
Haha
It’s rare Paulie isn’t up and blogged well befire even I check in- I cut him a little slack being in FLA and all.
Sally, you don’t give yourself enough credit! You’re attractive, funny, athletic, and smart. You love animals and you have a job (Ahem) Definitely worthwhile.
Awwww Thanks Steve!!
I second what Steve said! And as a life-long self-deprecator, I no longer to do that to myself. Our brains believe what we tell ourselves, positive or negative. Fuck that negative shit. So yes, I would definitely date myself now. Back in the day, oh hell no, but I’m not that person any more.
I wouldn’t date myself, and clearly haven’t found a partner who would (a mutual attraction is a must as well).
You’re caught in a Chinese finger trap then, because until you’re willing do date yourself, no one else is going to want to either.
Which is why I have come to accept that I will be alone the rest of my life.
That is certainly a choice that you get to make.
That was a really exciting game last night! That said, when they went into overtime I pretty much didn’t care who won, I just wanted it to end so I could go to bed.
Otherwise it was a great weekend. We went to see Argylle on Saturday — Barb, I thought it was silly but that was the point. They meant for it to be silly and entertaining, and I think it succeeded.
glad to hear your review- I’m glad you enjoyed it.
I guess I thought it was supposed to be more “real” – not just totally silly.
there was a review here in the Cedar Rapids paper that just panned it.
On Saturday I immediately abandoned my plan of trying to be homeless for a day in Macon, I was too damn tired so after I dropped my daughter off at her mock trial competition I headed back home and went to sleep for 3 1/2 hours. I then laid around on the couch the rest of the day until it was time to head back to Macon to get her. I made the right call, I needed a rest day, although my publisher would have been far happier with the original plan where I spent the day writing.
Yesterday I drove to Carrollton to fetch one of my two mothers-in-law to take her to brunch at my “wife’s” place and then to Hamilton. The show was just as amazing the second time as the first, and of course I picked up on some things I’d missed the first time around. It was such a treat. I then returned Claire to Carrollton, had a simple dinner at her house, and drove back again. In the past I would have been aghast at making two trips to Macon and Carrollton all in the same weekend. It just wasn’t a thing at all. I am liking this new me.
While what I’ve seen of Hamilton looks like fun, I don’t think I would be able to pick up all the lyrics with my hearing as bad as it is. I figured out a while ago, if I know the song, my brain will fill in the lyrics, but otherwise it’s just words I can’t understand. Debbie listening to current country music is an example- just melody with words that blow past me. Ugh.
The lyrics definitely get a little fast and furious sometimes. Claire is 83 and was concerned if she’d be able to keep up, but she did great and thoroughly enjoyed the show. She told me that her low battery alert in her hearing aid went off right after the show ended, so that was some fortunate timing!
Weirdly, the Fox didn’t open the doors yesterday until maybe 20 minutes before the show started. The line to get in was literally a block and a half long. But impressively they got everyone in on time. Fortunately they delayed the start by a few minutes as well. That line would have driven me berserk back in the day, but it too just was what it was, and it all worked out.
Was this the evening show and had there been a matinee? When I saw Cirque had a matinee, my first thought was “How are they going to flip the house?” )get everyone out, clean up, and get ready to let everyone in. I guess they did it, but they didn’t appear to be in a hurry to get everyone out.
This was the 1:00 matinee. There was a 7:00 evening show yesterday as well.
I’ve been stuck in that line at the Fox more than once, they usually do manage to keep it moving. The only time when we missed part of the opening act was when the performer required everyone to put their cell phone in those little pouches, which really slows down the process. Otherwise it’s pretty fast.
Oh, that would be a total pain. I haven’t been to an event that required that, thankfully. And yes, the line moved amazingly fast. It was impressive.
sounds like a lot of driving, but not that bad.
Rachel couldn’t get a ride home with a friend on Saturday night?
She probably could have, but she wanted to experience driving to Macon. She wanted to drive on her own, but Macon was a little farther afield than I wanted her go to on her own. She went with her bestie Sonia, who isn’t comfortable driving on the interstate. Rachel is, but she is still in the probationary period where she’s only allowed to legally have family members in the car when she’s driving. In the end, Rachel drove there and back, which definitely made things easier on me.
Weekend in Iowa was what I expect it to be – boring & busy at the same time.
Grocery shopping, baking cookies, making breakfast/lumch/dinner – washing dishes….
I really love my farm sink in GA – I HATE this tiny sink.
I love my gas stove stop – I HATE the ceramic electric stove top. (Its such a pain to clean)
I’ve got a little bit of a cold – I have a headache & a little cough.
Took some cold medicine last night – the damn game going into OT almost killed me.
Watched the Iowa Women play BB – Caitlin Clark I think decided to wait to break whatever big record until she is playing at home. Iowa was trying to force too many shots, and Nebraska came out of nowhere to win the game at the very end. Really good game. Then watched Golf, then Football.
Trying to get some work done – Dad decided to get up in the middle of the night (I found his sitting on the couch at 0530) & wouldn’t go back to bed. Him being up really messes with my morning routine of work & piece & quiet.
Working to clean the house, and one of the things I hate about Florida is that I am sweating profusely. Also, managed to cut my finger screwing in a screw for a towel hook. Dumbass!
Damn, dude, don’t be so hard on yourself. Seriously.
I never wanted to be a nurse or whatever- getting old people dressed is not my thing.
Anyway – Dad is dressed!!! (I blew it off all weekend, we weren’t going anywhere)
It’s the little things sometimes- and I know that’s not little.
its just a PITA – getting the food all together cooked & dishes washed – the whole getting dressed……..
I really don’t want to get old.
