Today is the first day that I’ve awoken with a congested nose and a dry, scratchy throat. I hope this is not an indication of a cold, or worse, since this is my last full day in Florida for this trip. Getting sick now would truly suck.
Yesterday was more taking care of business, with a little fun at day’s end.
Today’s to do list is to take a carload to Goodwill, load my car up with the few things that are coming back with me to Atlanta, and clean/secure the house so it’s all good until I return. There are still a lot of loose ends to handle. And of course I am a worry wart, so I fixate on things that seem abnormal.
Wordle: three, my starter was PESKY
Connections: perfect, Green > Blue > Yellow > Purple
Wordle in 6!! I was sure I was going down in flames…
More work on the hot wire fence yesterday. The new charger is designed to plug right into an outlet, so has no cord. PITA. Now have to devise a way to mount it.
Watched some of the UCI track series from Paris as I rode last night. Learned that a friend was the starter at the London event and had a gun misfire (click) at the start of a kerin heat. (motor leads the riders for the first couple laps). Oops. Fortunately, all the riders got back into place and just had a minute while he reset the gun while the motor just kept going round and round…
Games bitch and moan meeting tonight. Should be short as things went well as far as I know.

From a NYT recipe upgrading traditional green bean casserole:
Don’t hesitate to use the store-bought French-fried onions in a can. They cannot be improved.
Nice, I like that.
Not only is that true, but you’ll break your heart trying. Just use the store bought kind.
this is such a true statement –
store-bought French-fried onions in a can. They cannot be improved.
It never crossed my mind that there was any alternative! 🙂
Not feeling too bad, not 100%.
Waiting for Goodwill to open. May return to mom’s and load the car and go today. Weather and health are not ideal for fun and frivolity.
I bet part of it is dust & whatever from going thru stuff.
In the office today, should be a nice, quiet day. Watched more Welcome to Wrexham last night, I think we might have two episodes still to go.
Connections made with one mistake. Flamed out completely on Wordle because I made FOUR guesses switching out the 3rd and 4th letter without getting the right ones. See, my problem is that my vocabulary is SO VAST that I have too many words to guess. Yeah, that’s it.
hilarious.
I’m back at work & working with a new girl – so not enough time to mess around with games yet.
I’ll buy that…
To quote Pulp Fiction, “Look at the big brain on Jenka!” LOL, I’ll see myself out here.
speaking of Pulp Fiction – Allan got himself a Banana Slug T-shirt. (& we saw real banana slugs on our hike in the Redwoods)
OK, that’s pretty funny. I had forgotten about that Pulp Fiction connection.
One of my favorite movies!
I need to watch it again with a tasty burger in hand.
Wordle in 4, no misses on Connections, so no ranting today.
I also bought plane tickets for my son and me yesterday, we’re hitting Manhattan for a couple of days the day after Christmas. We’re then taking Amtrak to Philly (I’ve never been there, or to Pennsylvania for that matter) and flying back to ATL after a night there. I see that Edgar Allan Poe lived there for a year from 1843 to 1844. His house is a national park with free admission, and open on the Friday that we’ll be there, so that’s the first item on my Philly list. I’m open to any other recommendations.
It is good to have travel on the horizon, *especially* on my own terms. My peripatetic ways always drove my “wife” crazy.
I mean, you HAVE to run up the stairs of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and yell “ADRIENNE” at the top. Have to.
LOL! Noted. 🙂
I’ve barely been to Philly, and NYC for the most part – so no good suggestions of what to do from me.
Besides eat a Philly Cheesesteak – and see if there really is any difference?
I gotta say – my asking the FB friends what to do on my vacation worked out well – they sent me in the right directions for some fun stuff.
I’m letting Lucas mostly drive the agenda for NYC. For Philly, I absolutely love being dropped in an unfamiliar city and figuring out the lay of the land. It would definitely be sacrilege to visit there and NOT have a cheesesteak. I will be comparing theirs to the offering from Fred’s Meat and Bread in Krog Street Market, which is my standard bearer.
I guess I need to go to Fred’s some day – I love a good cheesesteak
Same re: Fred’s Meat & Bread. Definitely the best cheesesteak I’ve had in Atlanta.
sounds like a cheesesteak meetup might have to be in our future
Headed home. Never understand why Ocala is such a hotspot for accidents on I75.
Be safe.
EVERY TIME we’ve driven thru Ocala there has been crazy accident traffic
Ocala is a shit show 99% of the times I have driven through there. I have been routed off I-75 and around it but I don’t think it saved me much time.
just matched Paulie exactly on Connections
