After my morning errands I spent most of my day working in WLF. Because of the size, or lack thereof, most of my WLF choring is done by hand and takes me longer to finish that it would otherwise. I spent hours checking plants, harvesting a few things, and pulling weeds and grasses. More of the same today? Perhaps.
I solved today’s Wordle in three attempts; my starter today was SHORT.
I completely whiffed on Connections today. I blame having too much knowledge regarding one of the groupings, and taking issue with one of the words they chose to include in this grouping. Oh well, it’s just a game.
Wordle in 3. Connections- perfect. I never got that category you reference. It was my last.
We drove another truck last night at the local dealer. Except for the black interior and a bobo on the tailgate, this was a good one. Debbie is in pursuit of a perfect one and it’s going to be “her” truck, so… We are concerned the dealers will be less likely to do any haggling if the UAW strike goes on for long. There is very little new stock, which means there will be very little used stock in the lots as well.
Hopefully, if the windows go up and down on the car, I’ll actually make it to the Games meeting tonight. Today was my first drive in with the new phone and I haven’t fully configured Waze. It’s still announcing every car stopped on the shoulder! Ugh.

New phone. Who dis? 😉
When I saw the email for your comment I thought it was a reply to my comment below. Hahaha
I figure the day I decide to remove myself from the face of the earth it will start with getting a new cellphone number.
After only being able to charge the old phone on occasion, I finally pulled the trigger on a new S22 made by Paulie’s nemesis, Samsung.
It’s iOS 17 release day. I am going to download it to my sacrificial iPad Mini which gives me fits to test out the new features before downloading it to my soon-to-be former iPhone, and iPad.
Every attempt to update iPad Mini has failed. Glad I am experimenting on this device.
Maybe it’s too old for 17?
I haven’t checked the compatibility list, but I would assume Apple engineers are smart enough to not show and update option on a device which cannot install it?
Wordle in 3 starting with HOLLY. Connections is dead to me, I just do not have the bandwidth.
I spent the day yesterday at a client’s office doing a consulting project. Before the Internet that was pretty much a daily occurrence. These days I mostly do such work remotely. I’m glad I went in, being in the room with them helped a ton with the discovery process. I then built a tool that will eliminate 2 1/2 hours of daily keystroking. It was a particularly satisfying day.
Look at you throwing caution to the wind by starting with a word containing a double letter.
When I finally learned to use LOOKUP correctly, it saved a whole lot of time. S couple recent battles had me thinking of emailing you, but I figured it out, eventually.
Stop being a hero, ask for help. It helps me in my work to see where folks are getting stuck or frustrated in Excel, so ask away!
Wordle in 4 starting with MOWER…which is what I need to do today….mow the yard but it’s wet so I think I’ll get on my bike this morning. If I’m going to ride a 100 miles on the 3rd…I need to at least ride a few times. 2 mistakes in Connections. Just didn’t want to think that hard. Several prospects for Strider…including a college kid who wants to keep him at the frat house. Nixed that one right away. GUTS Tuesday night run.
I might be getting out with the mower and string trimmer in a bit. The front weeds have grown tall and my hipster mower can’t take down the tall, wiry ones.
I’m not sure I can do 100 miles on October 3rd. I will ride, and have to see how I do on the day.
Is that a Tuesday century??
Yeah, a group of us will be riding Silver Comet.
Overachievers.
Those who ride a century are. As I mentioned when I thought I was riding Wilson 100 I don’t think I want to do another century this year.
I agree with Steve.
Based on the impromptu 70 miles that I rode on the Silver Comet last month I’m going to say that if you haven’t been riding anywhere near that range then a century will be super painful.
The other thing to keep in mind is beyond Rockmart the trail moves away from the railroad bed and there are some serious hills for a while. It flattens out again toward Cedartown, but in particular there’s Trash Mountain, which is a seriously steep incline. It sounds like the planned route is Florence Road to the state line and back? Maybe you can borrow Barb’s e-bike? 😉 Regardless, pack pickle juice if you go.
Maybe That’s my problem. The comet is normally so flat, there is hardly any relief. I need some variety..
All true.
Not sure what distance I will ride. If I don’t feel up for the entire century I know the route back to the start where my car (and beer) will be.
Another day, more pain. I’m not sure getting old is working for me…
Fake Homesteading Good and Bad:
Good – front lawn is mowed and edged.
Bad – I set my winter crop seedlings outside to take advantage of the sun were decimated last night by something (slug, snail, caterpillar, critter).
Back to the grind today. Very busy week ahead.
Complete and utter whiff on Connections today. I knew two categories but couldn’t get the right 4 words for either one.
It’s so quiet in here. We need Barb!
Agreed. She’s probably having a riotous time in Iowa.
Done with my choring today, and have just eaten a lovely lunch of Impossible burgers on biscuits. I keep putting WLF jalapeños on my burgers and ease the heat with either barbecue or hamburger sauce. They are delicious to me.
Still have some pain in my back. I should probably consult with a doctor about this, though I probably won’t like what I will discover.
Will any of you read this? Way too busy today. Work is busy now that my coworker quit. Grocery shopping got done before the parents wake up. Then getting breakfast (just cereal, but still, plus pills, etc). Then my niece came by for lunch, and more getting everything together & cleaning up. Moms PT nurse came at 2:15, wish I could have spent more time watching what all she had mom do. Finally got done working about 5 (technically I’m done at 4 since it’s central here). The getting up every so often all day to make sure mom hasn’t fallen, she forgets she’s so frail. Or, she’s stuck not being able to get up from whatever chair. Then, had to make dinner & clean up. Are you tired yet? I am.
I read it Barb.
Busy, busy day. Hang tough!
