Except for venturing OTP yesterday I didn’t accomplish much.
Today I will do some choring and finish packing for BRAG because I will be headed for Augusta tomorrow morning.
I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was GRACE. Another fucking five. Wordle and I just aren’t seeing eye to eye these days.
Wordle in 3 today. Hallelujah! I started with CREAM.
My editor recently made a vague reference to the “June date” when the first half of my book is due. I’ve felt way behind on it and yesterday I finally pulled the contract to see the date, which is Monday, June 5. Yikes. But I am also farther along than I thought. I had some chapters done that I has saved in a somewhat random place. So, I may not hit the Monday deadline exactly, but I’ll be close enough that it won’t be an issue. The manuscript has to be wrapped by July 31. Given that I’m traveling half of July I need to use June wisely, although I can power through some work in airplane seat, so at least there’s backstop.
I took my son out to dinner at Fellini’s last night. The pizza is amazing as always. He’s never been much into music but he’s turning 14 next month and last night he started developing an appreciation for Metallica, which pleases me to no end. It’s always about finding that hook in life. Not just for music, for everything.
Barb: Mini in 38.
I am very much looking forward to clocking 50+ miles on the Silver Comet tomorrow. Happy BRAG and good luck to all who celebrate.
I’m getting frustrated with my inability to get Wordle in fewer than four.
Thanks and hope you have a great ride.
I feel you on Wordle. I was on the verge of decluttering it from my life recently. Hang with it, you’ll get your groove back.
I forgot to report that I have tomatoes on the vine!!! I planted three plants and one feels straight outta Jack and the Beanstalk. It’s already to the top of my 6’ stake with no signs of stopping. It’s in a pot so I’ll look at using my fence or the corner of my garage to keep it supported. The other two plants are 4 feet tall but all have green tomatoes. Gardening completely fell by the wayside the last couple years of my marriage so it’s good to be back.
Also I communed with baby ducks at Old Fourth Ward Park yesterday. That is always balm for my soul.
Yeah, I was going to reference your Wordle malaise from last week. 🙂
Nice. I have green tomatoes now, whether they are still there after next week remains to be seen. Also starting to sprout in WLF are beans and squash. I will be interested to see the state of WLF in ten days.
Mini was not for me today –
Wordle in 4 – that was a lucky guess.
We didn’t do much at all yesterday – I was super tired all day, even though I felt like I slept ok. I even took a little 20 minute nap – and I NEVER nap.
I am the opposite, I nap almost daily.
I can’t fall asleep in a short enough time to nap, but I do lay down and restfully rest on the weekend. I miss that about working from home.
Wordle in 6 and had to use 2 throw away- words. Sad.
Finish mower repaired! And it was the little hardware store in Luthersville FTW! I knew I could not get a bolt with the shoulder required to hold the blade in alignment, but they did have close to the right size bolt and with a few washers, worked like a champ. The other blade finally came off with a little help from my TORCH!
We started watching the final season of Ted Lasso last night. Surely we will be done with it this weekend.
I guess I need to start packing for my trip to Richmond on the scooter. Leaving next Wednesday.

I call “throw away words” “strategy”.
You will have to dedicate a chunk of time to get through season three. Unlike seasons one and two many episodes are an hour or so long.
You said “Richmond” after “Ted Lasso” so for a second I thought you were headed to England.
we started Ted Lasso last night as well – had to get a new password from a friend – as the one they gave us a while back wasn’t working. (they had to change it for some reason) Then – the fun of the 6 digit verification code – but – we finally got logged in. If I ever add a new streaming service, it won’t be AppleTV – I rarely see anythign there (besides Ted Lasso) that I really want to watch. We may pay for HBO Max someday – but not yet.
Stealing AppleTV? As a shareholder your are taking food out of my mouth… 😛
I really like AppleTV. I watch more on it than others such as Disney. I watch Hulu and Peacock too.
Not necessarily a bad thing! (oh, no he didn’t!)
its a trade thing – they’ve been using my Netflix for years. (we are waiting for them to get cut off)
We went to Ocean Wave last night, which was hopping. We have no plans this weekend other than glass recycling and Kevin wants to get mani-pedis. After two weekends away it’ll be nice to be at home!
All packed for BRAG, now time to stress over what I am forgetting 🙂
Tomorrow is going to be a LONG day of driving but once it’s done the fun begins for 7 days! Looking forward to a full week of shenanigans.
So are you doing the shuttle? leaving the truck in Augusta?
Are you dropping a car in Augusta?
I was just looking at the route. Looks like fun.
Dropping a truck in Augusta then coming back home to pick up my brother who is driving up from Orlando then driving to Clayton. Super long day but once everything is set we can just have fun.
Good on ya, Bob. I’m still hemming and hawing about my packing. My bags seem so full!
I forgot to tell you all that I have two good friends (Grant Park people) who are currently doing the Tuscany Trail in Italy. They started on Wednesday and did 68 miles the first day with 5,000 feet of elevation. The scenery is beautiful but no thank you on the riding!
Wow, that sounds cool. Our first day will be 58 miles with about 4750 ft of elevation change.
I forgot to mention THEY ARE REPAVING DEKALB AVENUE!!! I’m talking like actual asphalt being laid after of years of platitudes. I truly never thought I would see the day. I about swallowed my tongue on the way back from Fellini’s last night.
I made a rookie gardening mistake and let my bean stalk tomato get too tall without being tied up again and the top couple feet had fallen overnight. Hopefully it won’t hold it against me. It’s properly secured now. I am clearly out of practice.
I know, this is literally going to CHANGE MY LIFE. It’s been put off so many times it almost became an urban legend.
But will it still have the suicide lane?
Nope! That’s been a turn lane for a while now.
Wordle in 5, it wasn’t fun.
The eighth time was the charm. We finally have a baby horse bun in the oven. The vet will do a heartbeat check in two weeks and from there it will be another 10 months of waiting to see what we’ve got. I’m super excited for my friend.
Back to working on online learning today. I’m finishing up one last freelance project.
I’ve been resting on my decluttering laurels from the dining room this week, but now I’m feeling really motivated to clean out and organize our kitchen cabinets, so that’s on my agenda for the weekend. I’ll also do some mowing. I’ve got one last small area of pasture to do. The rest looks so nice; it is a very satisfying chore.
Have a great weekend, especially you BRAGers. Looking forward to tales from road.
when the grass looks nice – it is a very satisfying feeling – I do agree.
Kudos on conquering the dining room! Best of luck with the baby!
