Did a five mile walk yesterday. This weather has not been conducive to the thought of outdoor bike riding (but has not stopped the hardcore, so I guess that I am not hardcore), and look, more rain is predicted for next week.
I experimented with dinner last night, making a baked pasta dish. The experiment came by not boiling the pasta prior to baking it. I have done a similar magic trick using the Instant Pot, but wanted to try using the stove. Conclusion? I should have baked it without the lid, because in order to drive off the water I needed to bake it an additional twenty minutes, which did not help the texture of the final product. Oh well, at least it was an edible failure.
Off to get expensive new tires for the M6. I’m bringing my laptop with me, because at the rate I am burning through my savings I am going to need to earn an income again.
I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was GUILE, admittedly a low-percentage word for getting Wordle In One.
I read the FB before doing the Wordle. Mistake. In 1.
Dinner at the Alchemist last night was just so-so. Portion sizes were all over the map, my fish was over cooked, and we basically had the place to ourselves. Not much beer list either.
We off on an adventure, especially since the truck didn’t start when I went to fill it up yesterday. Took it to the parts place and they put their tester on it. Battery, starter and alternator all check out. Taking the little jump battery that got me going yesterday.

Bummer about the truck. Good luck with that.
Now that day has broken I can see that none of the M6’s tires went flat overnight, which is great. Appointment in Brookhaven at 10:15, will leave plenty of buffer time in case of mishaps. Mishaps in my life?!?!?! In-con-ceiv-able!!!
which tire place did you decide on? Discount Tire or somewhere else?
See below: I’m at the Discount Tire in Brookhaven. After this I can drive over to Lowe’s next door to see if I can pick up any nails or screws there, or not…
double letters always get me on Wordle – took me 5 tries
My first two guesses yielded zero correct letters. With ten letters no longer in play my list of possible words was severely lessened.
GROPE was a suitable start word since it took me 6 tries. TGIF. I have an adventure tomorrow.
Adventure? Nice! Hope you can talk about it on Monday.
I’ll talk about it in Monday. I’ll learn a lot from the experience no matter how it plays out.
Today’s short story, Melville’s “Bartleby (the Scrivener)”, though only 29 pages, is longer than I can muster in one sitting this morning. I will break up my reading of it throughout the day. Some days I have the attention span of a six year old with ADHD.
Oooooh, that’s a famous one! It’s not exactly a happy story. I enjoyed it, but I like that sort of thing.
I believe that some time back I mentioned awaiting the arrival of an album from a band called The Bad Ends. Most notable in the band is former REM drummer Bill Berry. I thought the album drops today, turns out it dropped last Friday. I will be giving it a listen today.
It’s available on YouTube for those of us not hip enough to have the vinyl: 😉 https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nB7uVCCu0SY1OA_xP1Q5_feQmNEZfBzbw
Sounds reminiscent of REM based upon my small sampling.
It’s also available on streaming sites like Apple Music, and assuming Spotify.
Giving away Delta drink vouchers has been interesting. They expire 1/31. Last night F*ckeye used 2, but said they never asked for payment, so they never scanned the QR codes I guess. So, I’m giving them away again. (Davey & Chris are flying this evening).
Look at all the travelers you know!
TPMS went off on drive to Discount Tire, this time it might be into something!
This place is jumping! No shortage of business here today…
And now I am done!
Discount Tire is amazingly fast when you have an appointment. I love their efficiency.
What’s funny is that I was out before my appointment time! They said I could come in early. so I did.
OK, I’m sold. I booked an appointment for Tuesday morning to get my TPMS devices checked, because I’m pretty sure one or more of them need replacement. Kauffman Tire was my go to for the longest time, but they sold out to Mavis, whom I would guess is also owned by or owns Comcast and/or Kroger given the abysmal service levels provided by all of the above.
make sure you get you the cars alignment done -they don’t do that at Discount Tire.
Whoa, I assumed that was an automatic when you get new tires.
I’m due a visit to the dealership for some maintenance, I’ll have them check when I go.
Thanks
that was my problem with the strange wear pattern on my last set of tires. So, I can’t remember where I got the alignment, but I had it done. New set of tires are wearing correctly
The babysitter called in sick this morning and Kevin had a doctor’s appt so I had to drive Finn to school this morning. Ugh. Basically just getting to my office.
I went to Jinya with a girlfriend last night. Oh my goodness, that place is good! I had the spicy umami miso ramen and I will definitely be getting that again.
Just ate a big lunch. I’d like to walk today, but am behind on things and when I went out to get the mail was stunned how cold I felt.
North of Knoxville at the second gas stop of the day. 10 mpg the first time, 9 the second. I waited for a pump behi d a Toyota salesman(literally, the dealer was right behind the starion). He checked on the performance and i told him itwas overmatched. He took it well.
Debbie is driving.
what awesome gas mileage – I know those days, towing the camper
Met Allan at Jersey Mike’s in East Cobb, he is working, but had a doc appt up here. Only 2 workers at Jersey Mike’s – that place needs 4 people to work efficiently at all. Took forever, but she made our sandwiches big, so I guess it was worth the wait? All the delivery drivers & online order people were screwed, and they were taking care of the people in line 1st. (Jersey Mike’s is my favorite sandwich shop, with Which Wich a close 2nd).
