It wasn’t until it was too late that I realized I never read my daily short story yesterday. Oh well, streak broken, perhaps I will start a new one today. At least I feel as if I had a good excuse, I was busy working on my “homework”, went out for a 4.5 mile walk, and went over to Betsy’s for dinner.

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was CAMEO

5 for me as well, starting with SATIN.

I was going to ride last night, but having left the office at 4:30 and didn’t get home until 6:30, I was done. That did include a stop at the CVS and a wait in line for a good 25 minutes. So long, in fact when I went to step forward my right leg was completely asleep and I fell to the ground!

Off to Kentucky tomorrow to return Gauzey to her previous owner and go look at a couple others. She just wasn’t a good fit with the program, not that Debbie ever rode her.

Birthday dinner for a friend tonight at The Alchemist in PTC. Lots of good reviews, so looking forward to it.

Sonofabitch. George just got on my list. We had sausage and biscuits the other day and I warmed up a couple leftover biscuits and left them on the counter. I heated up the sausage and left the kitchen for a brief couple seconds. I returned- “George, where did the biscuits go?” George, “What (chomp, chomp) biscuits are you (gulp) talking about??”

  3. I don’t know why, but I am dismayed to see a Sprouts shopper take groceries out in a cartful of plastic shopping bags. I expect more from Sprouts customers I suppose, incorrectly perhaps.

I’m never surprised – and maybe, just maybe they forgot all their bags at home. I forgot to put a bunch of mine back in my car & almost had to buy a bag at Aldi yesterday.

      • Jenka says:

This is what I always think, too. They probably forgot to put their bags back in the car and they already have like 20 bags. It’s not like you can ask for paper anymore.

        • Barb says:

I SEARCHED at Kroger the other day for a paper sack. (again, I forgot my bags) I did find one, but it wasn’t easy.

    • David says:

It’s so easy to space out on shopping bags. Mine often get waylaid in my kitchen.

We had a couple friends over for dinner last night – 1 is a nurse at Shepherd Center – things are changing there, and he has decided its time to start looking for a new job. So many opportunities out there for anyone in the healthcare field – he is overwhelmed. We told him not to jump on the 1st good offer, there could be more even better ones if he looks around.

4 in Wordle – I thought my 3rd guess, (one of Paulie’s favorite fall veggie) was going to be it – but it wasn’t

  6. The Universe is certainly ironically evil today. Yesterday on my walk I thought I might earn some good karma by picking up some of the nails that were spilled onto Moreland Avenue a week or so ago. If I picked up a handful on each walk, eventually they’d all be removed.

And then, on my drive home from my morning grocery trip, I heard the distinctive sound of having “something” in a tire. Sure enough, when I raced home I noticed that at least one of the tires has not only a nail, but a screw in it. Fuck my life.

    • Contemplating the big expense of buying four new tires. The tires currently on the M6 are nearing the end of their useful stage, and now at least one has foreign objects embedded into it.

      • Barb says:

I got my tires at Discount Tire – buy the lifetime warranty – they fix all these problems for free. We jsut got a tire plugged a couple weeks ago.
And – if you need new tires before you should, they discount them down. My Subaru tires were not wearing well & we nowhere near the 60,000 miles they said they would last, I got a whole new set for 70% off.
Other tire places might have the same sort of deal.

  7. Apple released iOS/iPadOS 16.3 yesterday. Unfortunately, neither of the two bugs which I encounter often — crashing the mail app on my iPad, having a Fitness Focus setting mysteriously reset on my iPhone — were fixed.

  8. I’ll admit to feeling overwhelmed today. I have so many negative things pecking away at me that I need to figure out a way to either push through, or ignore them.

Wordle in 5 today, starting with BITCH if you want a glimpse at how my week is going.

I had a business dinner at Longhorn on Cobb Parkway last night (hey, Barb!). Good lord what a massive decline that place has gone through. Zero craft beer offerings. I had a decent glass of grocery store wine. My cheeseburger was borderline edible, I only ate half. The sweet potato was on point at least. I’m glad that I didn’t waste money on an overpriced steak. I would have gotten the salmon but I’m not a fan of steam table rice (anything served on a bed of rice at a restaurant is a hard no for me).

My yoga teacher has returned from her annual sabbatical. It was good to be back in class today.

    • Barb says:

The Hooters right near there is even worse – it that makes you feel any better.
I don’t think I have been to that Longhorns ever, and its been a few years since we went to the one on Lower Roswell over in East Cobb. It used to be sure a “consistent” restaurant. Allan’s Dad always wanted to go there.

And – I agree with rice at most restaurants – I can’t remember the last time I ordered anything with rice (unless it was chinese, and that doesn’t count)

      • David says:

My standard is the original Longhorn’s, back in the day before they sold out. The current iteration is a faint shadow of what once was.

    • steve says:

Debbie needs a steak now and again and that’s one of our goto’s. Average at best.
My normal order is a salad that comes on the menu every so often. Even when it’s not on, they can make it. Wild West shrimp (salad).

      • Barb says:

I need a steak now & then, but we usually just buy them & cook here. Hate paying for a restaurant steak & not being impressed.

  10. Long walk to attempt to clear my head. Didn’t really work, but at least I got some exercise.
