I put in a not-so-successful workman like effort yesterday with the raised bed. While I failed to get the raised bed area leveled so that I could set the container in place and fill it with soil, I did get out some of the frustrations caused by the effort by removing the stump of a large bush that used to live in that soil. I am hoping to rectify my farming deficiencies this year so that WLF can provide an abundance of food.

I was sound asleep by 9:30pm last night, one of the hazards of waking as early as I do (often not purposely), even when I get a good nap in the afternoon.

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was GUEST. I had to ensure success by fishing for letters when my third guess was proven to be wrong. At least this time my wrong guess has yet to be a previous Wordle answer.

Wordle in 5 and I was 0 for the first 2 guesses, so I really should count that as a 3.

Debbie was not amused when I suggested she should shower at the barn (yes, the horses have their own hot water heater). Fortunately, the septic system guys will be out this afternoon.

My plans for exercise were foiled by a nap once I got home.

We started “Murders in the building” last night. While I like Steve Martin, I find Martin Short annoying, even when he isn’t playing that role.

Barb, I’m feeling the need for some TC. Have you tried the Smyrna location?

    • Barb says:

We have not gone to the Smyrna location.
We tested Wei (near the Marietta Square) it was good, a little more expensive. Bamboo fish was spicier.

Went to Swamp’s surprise birthday bash last night – a very small skinny event space next door to The Earl. And it really was a surprise (or he is a damn good actor).
Good turn out – luckily there was a back outside area – or it would have been crazy crowded. They hired the Human DJ (remember him from STU last year?) so it was extra loud inside.
Traffic of course was horrible – and it had started raining – so it took a while to get there.

    • David says:

You were in the heart of ITP!

      • Barb says:

Funniest part of the whole space was they were required to hire a security guard. The guy asked if they wanted him to pat people down as they came in the door. That made us all laugh – told him – you will be able to know that answer as you see this crowd.

    • Good Turnout probably means that I am glad I didn’t attend.

I made a vegetable stew last night in the Instant Pot, which turned out good if I do say so myself.

  3. David says:

Wordle in 6. I had the last 4 letters in place in 3, which made for 3 frustrating rounds of letter roulette.

  4. Nearly injured myself twice this morning slipping on surfaces that become treacherous when wet. Only damage is a hole in an old suspended ceiling tile where the shovel handle entered, perhaps saving me from doing the splits!

    • Barb says:

what the hell are you doing? ceiling tile?

      • I was walking into basement holding a shovel upright while wearing my gardening shoes, my foot slid and my arm holding the shovel went upward, putting a hole in the ceiling tile. To be fair, it’s a low ceiling, but it put a nice hole in the tile nonetheless.

  5. Finished my jigsaw puzzle, happy and sad, all at once!

    • David says:

I recently took a shit ton of jigsaw puzzles to Goodwill, otherwise I would have been able to offer you one or more replacements. Kudos on finishing! It’s good that you don’t have any pesky cats knocking pieces on the floor. That is definitely a way to level up the experience.

  6. Jenka says:

I did nothing last night except get Wordle in 4; should’ve been 3 except for that darn last letter.

  7. Debbie says:

Wordle in 5 starting with SALET.

The septic tank is cleaned out and we can once again flush our toilets. They were pumping it when I got home from errands and I asked Steve if “the shitter was full.” It wasn’t very satisfying as he didn’t know the reference. Looks like we need to put cleaning it out on a 5-year schedule to avoid having a day or two of non-functioning plumbing.

The first company I called couldn’t get to us until tomorrow, but she let me know they had done it last time and when and what the specs were from their records. I’ll definitely go back to them next time as that was a nice bit of customer service. I suspect our drain field isn’t working properly, but pumping the tank is way less expensive than fixing that.

    The joys of rural living.

  8. Just remembered the Tour Down Under is happening. Should have watched last night, will do so tonight.
