Pretty pleased with myself for the dinner I whipped up last night. I am trying to eat the food that I have in my house already, and last night I was quite successful. I used the air fryer to make some tofu cubes, using the package of tofu I had in the refrigerator. I sautéd the onion I had on hand, as well as the rest of a bag of frozen broccoli. I made the last two nests of Chinese noodles that I had in a package. And, I made a homemade (bastardized) teriyaki sauce. When each component was ready I added them all to a wok and heated the concoction. I must say, it was a success, and, I have enough for one more leftover meal!
I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was STARK
Wordle in 4 today thanks to a hint I saw on Twitter. I took a break after 3 with 3 letters identified but none in the right spot.
As everyone here knows, I provide no hints. 😉
Yes, you *could* have done me a solid. Not that you would, but you could. 😉 I shall rectify things with a trip to Bomb Biscuits this morning. So there. 🙂
Lol!
Went to the American Legion to pay dues – we are going to get a key card – otherwise you have to ring a doorbell to get in and everyone looks at you. They offered it up, and said we should come more often. Beers were $3 for domestics (we had bottles of High Life & Coors Light) – can’t go wrong with that price. They did have other beers, but I wasn’t in the mood to really drink, so cheap domestic beer was the way to go. And – it was the coldest beer I’ve had in a long time.
We smoked some ribs all day on the Egg. was an excellent dinner after the Legion.
We have too much meat in our freezer, so my goal this month has been to defrost something for dinner instead of going out or buying more.
If the amount of meat you have bears any relation to the amount of firewood you have, y’all are gonna be carnivorous for days on end. 😉
well David – someone (not me) likes to shop at Sam’s – so if there is a “good” deal – that’s so much more than a meal – so it goes into the freezer.
What can I say -he’s an Eagle Scout – “be prepared” – right?
You’ll never go hungry, that’s for sure! I’m much more of a fly by the seat of my pants person, so it’s interesting to see how the other half lives. 😉
Kevin does the same thing at Costco. I also need to clean out my freezer.
I’m looking to make a clean start (in All Things Paulie) next year, which is one of the reasons that I am trying eat down my pantry/refrigerator/freezer.
Sounds like a fun evening.
I made a most excellent beef stew in the crockpot yesterday, it smelled amazing when I got home from work.
I’m at the office for the last day of 2022. I could have taken today off but why? The school closes at 2:00 anyway. And it’s a LOT quieter here than it is at home.
Yesterday’s Wordle in 3 using STEAL.
I miss a good beef stew. I haven’t bought real meat to cook in over three years. I usually leave meat preparation to the professionals these days.
I would give you a serving but Kevin reports that he and Finn polished it off for lunch.
I appreciate the consideration.
Wordle in 4 starting with AISLE.
Preparing the farm for bitter cold will take a lot of the day. Our old tank heater had failed last year and we never got around to replacing it. Amazon to the rescue tomorrow, we hope. Debbie tried to feed some warm alfalfa last night and Mickey and Gausey would have none of it. They will learn, hopefully. I think the barn kitties will be brought inside. While they have a heating pad to sleep on, it will still be too cold for them- long hair or not.
Might break out the Carhart insulated overalls. It’s rarely cold enough to wear them.

It seems odd that it’s still predicted to get seriously cold tomorrow. I just went to Lowe’s and Target, buying stuff at the former and leaving almost immediately from the latter (in my defense I wanted to buy new athletic socks and had a $5 coupon that expires 12/31, so if I still need socks after Christmas I will buy them then).
How was the aquarium?
Well, dang, Bomb Biscuits is aptly named, meaning those biscuits and the cinnamon roll we had are truly the bomb. Highly recommended. I’ll be back again soon.
I will go in 2023. Hopefully I can walk/ride my bike when I do to offset the calories.
You’ll probably need to do a lap around the perimeter before or after your meal to offset the calories. 😉 I had the fried chicken biscuit, and oh my. Speaking of oh my, that dang cinnamon roll…
that place sounds quite tasty!
I’ve been following the owner on social media for a couple of years. She was doing pop-up markets for a while, and was successful enough to go brick-and-mortar. She definitely knows her stuff when it comes to biscuits and cinnamon rolls!
David, what is her name/handle? I love following local food people!
Her name is Erica Council. I haven’t followed her directly, but I’ve been following her exploits on Eater and other local media, such as this:
https://www.atlantamagazine.com/dining-news/erika-councils-bomb-biscuits-brings-breakfast-sandwiches-and-cinnamon-rolls-to-irwin-street-market/
She outgrew Irwin Street Market and has her own space on North Highland now, across from Highland Bakery, or down from Jack’s Pizza if you want Paulie’s reference point.
For old timers, it’s in the space once occupied by Roman Lily.
My NY Jets play tonight, and if they were still showing the promise that they were earlier in the year I might have considered going to a bar to watch the game. Instead I’ll stay warm at home, drink the beer from my refrigerator, and eat a meal at home as I watch the game.
heard from my brother – -30 windchill & 4-8 inches of snow – its really windy, so the drifting makes it hard to figure out how much snow actually fell.
Yuck!
Attempted a little WLF winter protection, but the weather combined with some lingering knee pain from yesterday cut my efforts short.
I’ll critique the aquarium in tomorrows blog.
