Looks as if the rain is moving out of Atlanta earlier than predicted. That’s good for me, because I have to go out to get some things done today. Coming behind this is seasonally-cold weather, which will unfortunately kill the tiny potato plants that have been trying to get to the tuber stage before the cold arrived.

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was DROWN. Ugh, I just can’t seem to get the answer quickly these days and it’s starting to weigh on me.

Wordle in 4 today starting with TREAT.

My house is getting appraised today and the appraiser is scheduled to visit, so apparently this won’t just be a drive-by. At least I get a 2 for 1, this facilitates a home equity loan and the mediation.

My wife is sleeping at her house now, she moves her stuff on Saturday. I had a very peaceful evening last night and I look forward to more.

Poor Morrocco. It would have been great to see them in the final, but it was not to be. Actually, they were lucky it was only 2-nil, as France blew several opportunities. To be fair, they did as well.

So, Debbie’s horse trading business is getting off to a quick start. We’re driving up to TN on Monday to look at a horse she’s interested in.

Sent in my bids for big races next year. Sunny King (Anniston) has a “video review official”. Hmm.. there is a position on the track, but I’ve never seen one assigned to a crit. I signed up for that, as well as chief high muckity. We shall see…

A solid 2 inches in the rain gauge. No lightening or thunder that I ever herd, though.

I am back in the office today because I really have a lot of work to do before the end of the year. I actually had some anxiety about that which casted a (small) shadow on the vacation.

Belize is quite beautiful and it would definitely be a lovely destination for someone who is more laid back than I am. When the catamaran got cancelled I consulted with a friend who has been to Belize several times and she suggested Caye Caulker, which is the closest caye to Belize City and about a 45 minute ferry ride. I booked a nice hotel with beach front. Caye Caulker is a super cute island and everything is walkable in like 10 minutes; if you’ve been to Key West it’s VERY much like that except much poorer. There are tons of places that will take you out snorkeling and diving. Everything was very beachy. Everyone was super friendly and nice! I was really surprised at just how plain nice everyone was. The food was not very good, I have to admit. The seafood might have been fresh but every single restaurant we went to over-cooked it. It was 85 degrees every day. We got to talking with some other travelers from Fort Collins and they thought it was really humid, but it felt pretty normal to us.

Belize City is not a place you would stay at and explore, it’s more of a stopping point before going to somewhere else.

Anyway, I am really glad to be back. By the last night I was really antsy to be home. We got home Tuesday and we took yesterday as a nice day off. We slept late and then went to Mellow Mushroom in midtown to watch the first half of the France-Morocco game, then we picked up our dog from the boarding place and went home and watched movies. We also started watching the second season of The White Lotus, that show is so good!

well bummer the food wasn’t all that great. I’m not really a beach person, so we haven’t ever really done much that way for vacation. Someday, maybe…….

    • What Barb said.

This whitey doesn’t enjoy the beach, which is why when I lived less than a hour away from a beautiful one I rarely went there.

    • David says:

I used to hate the beach, but I like it now! Thanks for sharing your experience, Jenka.

    • Jenka says:

I like the beach but only in certain circumstances. I certainly there has to be shade or I would die. This one didn’t have any umbrellas on the beach so we mostly went to the pool instead.

Delta CC (platinum Amex) is worth it this year for me – spent so much money I’m platinum medallion without hardly flying. I just got upgraded to 1st class for my flight to Cedar Rapids tomorrow. It’s not even a 2 hour flight – but what the hell-I’ll take it.
Using 2 companion tickets for trips next year – and when I book, I get upgraded to Confort+ immediately. I have never really wanted to drink on airplanes, but hey – when its free – I just might do it!

Tonight is George’s for dinner – its been a while – wonder if there’s any chance of finding street parking – or – how much it costs to park at the Hardware store?

  6. Steve says:

I would expect Ft. Collins folks to think Belize is humid since they have no humidity. Sorry the vaca wasn’t all that.

I just had to burn 2 more PTO days and still be online! this new system accrues constantly- the old system gave you the balance of your PTO in February, so you knew how much was left for the year.

    • Jenka says:

Yes, that was it, Kevin and I thought the humidity was normal, but we’re from here! Fort Collins is very dry, and they were dying. Heh.

  7. Barb says:

Looks like I’ll be working (from home) in Iowa some next year – my brother needs to take some vacation & get away – we’ve been working on days he can take off & I can work up there. So end of March & 2nd half of June – I’ll be in Cedar Rapids – whooo hooo!

Wordle in 3 starting with STORK.

So happy to finally see the SUN!! It looks like it’s going to stick around long enough to dry things out finally.

Went to Aldi & scored a lovely ugly Christmas sweater bottle cover (a whole $3.99 if you want to go get 1) – it will look lovely on the white elephant gift bottle we are taking to the party tonight.
