On the trainer this week I have started watching a show from 2018, True South. True South is another travel show which highlights food and restaurants and may be inspiration for me to travel more throughout the South in 2023.

Even though this is not the map of restaurants shown in True South, the host, John T Edge, has posted a map of restaurants throughout the South

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was REMIX

  1. Though delicious, I now understand why blueberries are better suited for pancakes over waffles. Somebody is going to have to do a thorough cleaning of his waffle maker…

    • Barb says:

I’m on an avocado toast kick for breakfast – but that fine line of eating one on the best ripe day is so tough. Todays should have been eaten yesterday, but I didn’t think it was ready.

  2. Ugh, why is it only now that I remember that I have frost covers for my plants? I may be about a week too late to save anything left in WLF that isn’t frost hardy.

I have been a very bad caretaker for WLF this year.

    • Debbie Brady says:

I’ve been waiting for a cold enough frost to kill my tomato plants completely so I can remove them easier. Tomato farming was not particularly satisfying for me, so I may not do it next year. There are enough farm stands around to keep us in good supply.

In assessing my life as of late I’m paying attention to what I used to do that brought me joy and no longer does. It’s so easy to slot ourselves into a rut where we keep doing things out of force of habit. Maybe WLF has run its course for you and it’s time to move on to other endeavors, or at least shrink the size of the farm? To riff on Smokey the Bear, only you can determine the fate of WLF.

Wordle in 3 today starting with RIVEN.

The separation from my wife begins in earnest the week before Christmas, which means I have four weeks to gut through. Given how fast December flies by, it will hopefully be here before I know it. I try to be mindful of wishing my life away, but sometimes it’s OK to want to fast forward just a bit.

Wordle in 4 today, but got it in 2 yesterday
(after reading what words everyone else started with)
I always use Paulie’s start word.

My bestie girlfriend has season tickets to the Hawks and last night I went with her. It was super fun! Mostly because they were playing my Celtics and we demolished the Hawks. Her seats are in a great spot and they have really improved Phillips, er, State Farm Arena with food and drink options. We parked at the MLK MARTA station and trained in. What a fun experience!

    • Barb says:

I have not been to Philips (aka State Farm) arena yet – I do need to get there someday. I’m not much of a basketball fan, I’m not sure when it started, but the squeaking of the basketball shoes totally bothers me.
I’m hoping maybe someday we will get a hockey team again, or I guess I could go to a concert down there.

      • Jenka says:

It was my first NBA game, and I really enjoyed it. Prior to last night the only times I went there were for concerts. The last time was pre-pandemic to see Sia, and it was just awful because the acoustics are so bad.

When Molly was little (maybe 11?) we took her to see Disney’s Frozen on Ice and I still have PTSD from that experience. *shudder*

        • David says:

I’ve only attended one NBA game, and that was years ago. A client of mine had a suite, and I was able to park UNDER the arena and take two elevators to my seat. That is clearly the best event parking I’ll ever experience in my lifetime. MARTA from MLK is definitely the ticket when going to that arena or the Benz.

          • Jenka says:

We literally went up one escalator and walked right into the stadium!

Um, yeah, that is the best event parking experience ever. You win!

          • Barb says:

Marta is so inconvenient from Cobb county – but luckily Fire Station #1 is just down the street, so we usually can find a free space inside their locked gate.

    • I’ll go to State Farm, née Philips, when we get another NHL team, so probably never again.

    • Bob says:

Took the family to a game last year, they do a good job putting on a show on top of the game. Was a fun experience.

    • Debbie Brady says:

I’ve only been to one Hawks game, but it was fun! Not as fun as hockey, but the nonstop action is engaging. Glad you had a fun evening!

  4. Barb says:

    Are they reasonably priced restaurants?
MY problem with so many of these types of shows is the restaurants are too expensive for me for the most part.

Went to Ph’East at the Battery with a friend last night – the asian food court idea with a bar. The Poke place has the weirdest things – I tried a sushi burrito. It was very messy. A few months ago we tried the sushi corndog. I wish they would just have some more traditional sushi. I’ll probably get Chinese or Thai next time we go there. I like the Ramen place, but it to just too messy for me.

  5. Tried to work WLF. It’s too cold out there right now for me. I also tried to remove some ivy from trees, hopefully the poison ivy out there is not very active. A thorough shower has been taken.

  6. Debbie Brady says:

Wordle in 3 starting with BROKE. In other news, I went to Costco unchaperoned last night.

I had my hair cut and then had time to kill before meeting my friends at Costco for Opening Hunt snack shopping, so I hung out at Panera for a couple hours. I’m not generally a coffee drinker, but I got coffee. For my second cup, I noticed they had cinnamon and thought, hmm, maybe that would be tasty. Blech! It was terrible. Is adding cinnamon really a thing?

After Costco, we had a nice dinner and then I came home to full-blown anarchy. Three of the four dogs had had accidents of varying degrees of disgusting. As I was cleaning that up, I realized that we didn’t have water because I’d left it running at the barn. A friend was calling with an urgent tech problem and Steve was checking in from Savannah. Anarchy!

Thankfully the pump didn’t lose its prime so the water is back flowing. And we have one good dog.

Hoping for a better day today!

  7. Jenka says:

OMG, I totally forgot to report that yesterday I went to Kroger and got EVERYTHING for Thanksgiving! I have no need to go back to the grocery store. Can you believe that?!

  8. Steve says:

Good afternoon from home. Up early and drove north (west?) with a stop at a motorcycle/4 wheeler/tractor (!!!) store looking for a part for the tractor. No joy, but did find some new scooter gloves. Stop 2 was another tractor dealer much closer and did order he part from them.

Lunch yesterday at Little Duck Cafe (thank you David). A nice bowl with rice and veggies and … wait for it… duck! Cooked with just enough curry (not a fan). Walked along the riverfront. Chatted with a crew member from an American Cruise Lines ship that was docked. Currently running the Intercoastal between Baltimore and Jax. One more run, then wintering in Jax.

I guess a semi driver fell asleep going the other way on 16 this morning. Rolled it over onto the shoulder. No EMS or PD on scene. Folks out of their cars and another driver out of his semi on my side. About 5 minutes later, I saw 2 sheriffs heading south(east?) all lit up. Never saw EMS rolling.

Other than that, a nice, quiet drive…
