Even though it downpoured for a good twenty minutes at my house as I was readying to leave for Decatur I had a good ride last night, only to ruin it all by drinking too much beer, eating too many peanuts, and then eating a soft pretzel from Lidl when an returned home. This is why my weight is no longer declining…

I hope that I still fit into my suit tomorrow for the wedding I will be attending.

It’s funny. If you asked me six months ago where I would be today I would have said resoundingly “at Hartwell for the hash campout.” I am (obviously) not there today.

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was LADEN

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 0:41

  2. David says:

Wordle in 5 starting with TAPIR. Mini in 47.

I saw Elton John for the first snd last time last night. He put on a good show for age 75. His band is mostly that age as well and they did great!

    • I have enjoyed his music over the years but aging performers, high ticket prices, and crowded arenas do nothing for me.

      • David says:

Well, a ticket fell out of the sky for me. I never thought I’d get to see him perform. I’m glad I made it in under the wire.

    • Barb says:

I seriously wanted to go, so I decided to see what last minute tickets would sell for late morning – but – ended up deciding not to buy. There seemed to be LOTS of seats still for sale on Ticketmaster (resale)
      Was the place packed?
I would have LOVED to go. We saw him at the Gwinnett arena many years ago, it was a smaller venue, so it was extra awesome.

      • David says:

There were $50 seats available on Ticketmaster last night. It didn’t seem packed until he started performing, and then the place looked filled.

You’re probably better off with your older memory of him. His playing was great, but he was really stiff when he got up and moved around.

    • Jenka says:

      Tapir. Impressive.

  3. Steve says:

Wordle in 4 starting with TRUST. Not a normal one, but just jumped in my head. Mini in under 2.

I looked at tickets when Elton announced, but couldn’t justify it. Also, I was afraid he wouldn’t play songs of his I liked- Once upon a time, I had a copy of “Madman Across the Water” I wore slap out.

I tried to get George to come in this morning when I got up. He- had something in his mouth I grabbed- a deer’s tail. He never came in and he’s currently running around in the backyard with something else in his mouth. I’m afraid…

Follow up with Cardiac Rehab today. Should be interesting.

  4. Ugh, last year Outside bough Peloton magazine. Yesterday I received an email announce that they will no longer be publishing it.

    • Steve says:

Publishing Peloton or Outside? In these days of online, I’m surprised I still receive a couple actual published magazines, only one of which I actually read. One from the National Association of Sports Officials is a side benefit of the insurance they provide (which is why I’m a member). The one from the BMW owners association has pretty pictures and some stories. I figure it’s also online, but I haven’t sought it out.

  5. Beautiful weather outside. I should probably be out there getting exercise, but currently I am sitting around watching tv.

    • I am watching the “super fan” episodes of “The Office” on Peacock. I have reached season four, and have to admit that during this rewatch my favor character may be Creed Bratten.

  6. Barb says:

Where is the wedding you are going to happening?

    • It’s in Norcross. Because it is open bar afterwards I have a hotel for the evening.

I supposedly can’t check into my hotel until 4pm. Thankfully the wedding doesn’t start until 6:30pm. Oh, and I will have to relearn how to tie a necktie today or tomorrow.

  7. Jenka says:

Yesterday’s Wordle in 4 using LEAST. I heard of so many (besides Steve!) who got it in one or two.

I thought seriously about going to Elton John because he is one of my absolute favorites, but what I’ve heard from him recently convinces me that his voice is kind of shot and it would be like seeing my idol at his worst. Plus we had Finn and adding on $200 of babysitting onto the ticket price was too much.

    • David says:

His voice was decent, but there was no question that he’s 75. The saddest thing about last night was the commercials on the screen where he’s shilling a line of eyeglasses at Walmart of all places. Somehow I would think knighthood would exempt someone from meeting to be a frontman for Walmart. Or maybe he just sucks at managing money and needs to keep earning.

I skipped seeing the Stones last time for that very reason, they are seriously getting up there, and I’ve seen them before. I’ve always liked Elton John, but not enough to ever go out of my way to see him live. I’m glad it worked out though.

      • Steve says:

How tough must it be to tour when you’re 75??

Shilling eye glasses? My how the once mighty have fallen…

      • Jenka says:

Oh, it’s pretty well known that Elton John had to come out of retirement because he was going broke. The man likes a lavish lifestyle!

  8. Steve says:

This late breaking news- apparently Tripod had a heart attack last night.

  9. If you know me well, when you’ve solved today’s Wordle you may understand why I struggled with it this morning. *wink*

  10. Steve says:

I went out into the backyard and located the carcass Brownie.. I mean GEORGE(!!) brought home last night. That boy…

  11. In from doing the unthinkable, edging the front lawn with the weedwhacker! Not enough exercise, so I will have to figure out what to do before I start drinking later.

  12. Ugh, I know I am not the only one getting killed in the stock market today but it is giving me concern for my financial future…

    • Barb says:

I just had a zoom meeting with a Fidelity guy earlier this week, and we were talking about how the market isn’t doing that well.
I need to get our “shit” together so we can have another meeting so we can get whatever changes made for our plan for “as we get older”.
