Shitty weekend. I gave up caring about a lot of things this weekend. My only highlight was spending time with Betsy and Bella.
A child born on “9/11” can now legally buy alcohol. Think about that for a second.
I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was SHACK
NYT Mini Crossword in 1:53.
Failed at all Heardle variants, well all the ones available to play today.
My head is not in the game this morning.
A 12 hour day Saturday but the new switches are in. Some lessons learned that will apply systemwide. Some equipment doesn’t failover the way you think it should. I figured out why in one case. Others are for those smarter than me.
We heard a report of some missing “mini cows” in the area yesterday. I was walking through the house and saw a 4 wheeler in the driveway and a cow in the yard. The owner had driven her to our fencing- now to just lasso and lead her away- yeah, right! She had 6 inch horns that would certainly do some damage. It took a bit but he got her bound and tied to his buggy. I decided to ride my CX bike behind to encourage her. She fought every foot back to their house but finally made it. Remember the dog that showed up and spent the night a few months ago? Same folks… their pets apparently love us.

Never a dull moment down on the farm!
I made it to Stone Mountain for the first time since breaking my arm in February. My son rode with for his first bike trip there. We logged 39 miles. It went well until a damaged part of the PATH trail caught his back tire and gave him some road rash. He made it the last 13 miles under his own power.
I finished the second book on Friday, it moves on to the printing company today. I’m going to be coming down from that crazy work jag for a while.
Wordle in 4, Mini in 27. I knew but couldn’t name Heardle or either 80s. I got the 90s in one second. 70s would have been a gimme, I would have failed on the 60s if it were available.
I hope your mood lifts, Paulie.
27 seconds? Damn! I got tripped up by the astrological sign.
Thanks. It’s the same old story, I’m feeling imprisoned by my emotions.
Bummer about your son’s wreck, at least no permanent damage occurred. Having cut my Stone Mountain teeth by riding the old “pizza ride” I avoid the PATH and ride the roads to and from.
I don’t ride the PATH trail much any more either, but Lucas was more comfortable being on the trail. I’ll wait a few days before asking him if he wants to ride that route again. The roads are definitely better, especially when coupled with an early start.
I decided to start my day at Joe’s this morning. Great vibe until some college student started a lengthy phone conversation about her upcoming world travels right behind my ear. Time to head back to the salt mine.
Wordle in 3, Mini in :30
I saddled up and went looking for the second cow. Didn’t find her, but ended up coming out in one of our neighbor’s backyards. He was not amused – oops.
With Steve out of town, my girlfriends and I were contemplating what shenanigans we could get up to and we landed on riding followed by dinner and a game night which morphed into a late lunch and going our separate ways for naps. If that’s not a sign of aging, I don’t know what is! 😉
Congrats David both on the book and the bike ride!
Paulie, sorry about your mood. If animal therapy helps, come hang out with us!
Debbie this made me laugh out loud.
“There was a missing cow so I saddled up my horse to go help wrangle it”
It’s like you are living in an old western LOL
LOL!
Our neighborhood is more Breaking Bad than old western unfortunately.
Breaking Bad neighborhood – that made me laugh twice.
I read that as “went looking for a sacred cow”. Oops! LOL
Thanks, Debbie! I’m still feeling bewildered that I’m actually done. There was definitely napping involved both days this weekend. I’m with Bob, it’s a hoot that you saddled up to go do some cattle herding!
Sorry your mood has soured Paulie. You need to be happy with you, to hell with anybody else. Sucks you are caught in the prison that is your emotions and hope you can break out.
Thanks. My first effort toward fixing things is taking a break from social media that depresses me.
I think we all get there from time to time and social media makes it works.
I go through periods of “Fuck everybody, I’m going to do what makes ME happy” and check out for a while.
Hear, hear! That’s crucial to do. If you’re not there for yourself, you can’t be there for anyone else.
Taking a break from social media is definitely crucial as well.
Hi everyone – its been a crazy day, and the RRs are having a huge union dispute that could shut everything down this week. The Govt I’m sure will step in & not let them be shut down for too long, but that doesn’t mean people won’t call out sick. Should be a very interesting week.
TONIGHT is MASSAGE NIGHT!!! I’m so ready.
Nothing too exciting all weekend-
Friday night – steaks & wine on the deck – its finally nice enough to sit outside. Saturday was the GE (Peter) celebration of Life at Monday Night Garage. Good turn out of hashers, and well as lots of others – family, adventure racers & coworkers.
Sunday – I decided to just ignore the world & do nothing but watch NEtflix.
Wanted to go Saturday night, but from the group photo I saw I am glad that I didn’t. Yep, I make everything about me, but I am sure this surprises none of you.
Enjoy your massage.
Booked at hotel room in Columbia, SC (destination not chosen by me) for a getaway weekend with my old work drinking buddies. Who knew hotels in downtown Columbia could be so goddamn expensive?
Columbia does have a nice walking/biking path along the river/canal that you’ll want to make sure to check out. Beyond that, I don’t know that there’s much redeemable about the city, but it’ll be good for you to get away.
I did not know that! I have only been to Columbia for college recruiting events at (the other) USC.
Vern lives in Columbia – but he’s got some new health issues happening – if I can find the email – I will forward it
I forgot that Vern lives there. Don’t know how much free time I will have, however, since Bill lives there now and will be setting up our itinerary.
