NYT Mini Crossword in 53 seconds. A lot of good Wordle words in today’s puzzle.
Heardle fail, and I LOVE that song. Since I had listened to the album (digital version) a few times recently I recognized the intro at one second, but couldn’t think of the song or artist. I think I was thrown by seeing that Spotify bought Heardle — another independent bites the dust.
Watching le Tour on USA for the first time, just to hear Phil’s and Bob’s banter. I have been watching the other feed until today.
Made my final “Prime Days” purchase, and it didn’t go as I hoped. I tried to use the final $12.40 of my $550 gift card by purchasing something that costs $13.50. I expected Amazon’s systems to be able to use the $12.40 and charge the remaining balance to my credit card on file, but no, they just went ahead and charged the $13.50 to my credit card. Dangen!
Wordle in 3 starting with SAINT!
Phil and Bob’s commentary, when I sit through it, is fairly benign. I do enjoy the GCN commentators much more. As I didn’t get home until 10 last night, I’ll be 2 stages behind when I watch today.
Games meeting could have been 3 emails…
-FP
I was hoping for three, with three properly-places letters after two guesses, but zigged when I should have zagged.
Changed back to commercial-free feed. The nostalgia of Phil and Bob wore off. Who are the GCN commentators? The commercial-free feed has guys whose voices I recognize, but don’t know their names exactly.
Riders are on an incredible switch-back filled climb at the moment. Might I also add I love the old footage when riders did the tour without wearing helmets.
Isn’t that the case for most meetings?
True. Sometimes we can see one another and accomplish things, but frequently it’s just status updates.
Sean Kelly is the ex-pro, along with Bradly Wiggins on the moto. The other commentators are also ex-pro’s, but no one I ever heard of. It’s not a “dumb downed” American version with warm and fuzzy human interest pieces.
Heardle ’70’s is a fun one.
Off to try that one…
Got it immediately, well, I knew the artist and had to make an educated guess from the suggested song titles.
Wordle in 6 starting with TRICK.
I have a 93% solve rate out of 97 games:
1 try: 0 times (not counting on this stat ever changing)
2 tries: 8 times
3 tries: 23 times
4 tries: 24 times
5 tries: 29 times
6 tries 6 times
Fail: 7 times
I’ve played Wordle much more than 97 times, but it lost a big chunk of my stats somewhere along the way even though I always use my phone to play it.
I have a 42% solve rate out of 105 songs on Heardle:
1 second: 24 songs
2 seconds: 7 songs
3 seconds: 2 songs
4 seconds: 1 songs
5 seconds: 7 songs
6 seconds: 3 times
Fail: 61 times
Heardle 70s: 84% solve rate on 38 songs, 27 of those in one second.
Heardle 80s: 21% solve rate out of 28 songs
Heardle 90s: 3% solve rate on 36 songs
Heardle 00s: 23% solve rate on 26 songs
I’m surprised my 90s Heardle is so abysmal, I know a ton of music from the 90s, but apparently not what they pick. Same for the 80s. 00’s is a much better showing than I expected.
NYT Mini in 40 seconds.
I like to keep a running average in Wordle, but I play from several different devices, so it’s not as accurate as it could be. I was just below 4 a month or so ago, then went through a cold streak.
Now that I see the decade Heardle’s, I might try those more often.
Interesting. Here is my Wordle breakdown:
I have a 99% solve rate out of 135 games:
1 try: 0 times
2 tries: 12 times
3 tries: 31 times
4 tries: 55 times
5 tries: 19 times
6 tries 16 times
Fail: 2 times
I may have lost some efforts by playing on iPad early in my Wordle days, but not a significant number.
I don’t play Heardle enough to make the stats relevant.
you guys kicked my button all the games today.
Relatives made it out & I’d assume they are home in Girona sleeping.
Allan spent the day cleaning & doing laundry (I helped a little, but I have to work some)
Not much else going on around here.
You have been a busy hostess, you deserve a break today.
I’ll second that, AND with a dead A/C!!
Remember what Ben Franklin said about houseguests- both start to smell after 3 days.
Fish and houseguests…
the 2 AC units we have running are actually doing a pretty good job. The bedroom is cold enough to sleep, I even put on a light blanket. The living room with that has the portable one from Sani’s house does ok too. Tomorrow is supposed to be the big day for the new unit & I’ll be poor for my birthday!
No spoilers, but today’s TdF stage has been a pleasure to watch.
At some point I hope I become immune to ant bites. Some sonnabitch bit me on the left calf twice after I came back inside from picking radishes from WLF for dinner.
