Yesterday saw me hitting many stores locally, my penultimate grocery store runs prior to Christmas. With the exception of perishables I should be able to feed myself with my pantry, refrigerator, and freezer for at least a month. Maybe I will make a January challenge out of this lack of shopping restraint. 🤔
I was going to clean my new coffee maker and make a pot of coffee this morning using it, but I may be making a coffee walk with Betsy and Bella instead. We won’t be doing out normal Saturday walk this week because it will be Christmas and she has other plans. The nerve! I blame Bella. 😂
Last night Betsy also broke from the norm by buying dinner for Top Chef night. She purchased a lovely meal cooked by Lance Gummere, former chef at The Shed (RIP) and co-owner of Bantam+Biddy (at least I think he is still involved with that). Turns out Gummere lives near Betsy, very close to Red’s Farm (an inspiration for WLF). Gummere made fried chicken, potato salad, braised red cabbage, and a apple dessert with whipped cream. Ooof, it was delicious.
In preparation for eating too much I made a half-hearted attempt at riding my trainer yesterday afternoon. I put in thirty lackluster minutes before dismounting.
I must have been rather pooped for whatever reason because shortly after returning home from Betsy’s house I passed out hard on the futon.
Tonight, a return to see “A Christmas Carol” at Shakespeare Tavern. My annual trip was interrupted last year due to COVID. Stop COVID!
Hope you are remaining healthy and good, because Santa arrives tomorrow night! 🎅ðŸ¼

Lance hasn’t been part of Bantam and Biddy for a while now. http://www.mercerstreetmeals.com is his new venture. It is good stuff!
I know that feeling of going to the grocery store “for a couple of things†and instead rolling out with a cart that looks like the Grinch’s sleigh.
Ah.
Walking with Betsy now, will pass this along to her.
Thanks!
Back to Zestos in L5P closing permanently, I read: “…the pandemic, road work, and a fallen tree that damaged the building all contributed to the decision to close.â€
I purchased new eyeglasses (and my first ever prescription sunglasses!) yesterday. Both are progressive lenses for the first time. Now I wait about 3 weeks. Another item checked off the list!
This morning I am doing chores and running errands, then hiking with a friend this afternoon. TBD what else the day holds.
I’m still mourning the Zesto’s closing on Ponce several years ago. It’s since turned into Creep Out, er Cook Out. I say Creep Out because on my one and only visit they played gospel music and had biblical verses on their cups, it was just all a bit too in my face for me. And their “milkshakes” use ice milk instead of ice cream. Why bother? I’m simply not the target demographic for that particular business.
From what I read the Zesto on Piedmont is hanging by a thread as well. Can’t have anything these days.
Though I have never been a Zestos’s zealot the idea of it always pleases me. Maybe I will risk my life one day and go into the on at Confederate, err, United, and Moreland.
Trying to get packed & ready to go to the airport tonight, already heard TSA is a mess. Delta has some new facial recognition thing, says I don’t even need the boarding pass on my phone. We will see how that works. Flight is at 8pm, trying to figure out how early to get to the airport.
Looks like weather should be ok in Iowa, warm enough for no snow.
Finally finished Only Murder in the Building last night. Looking forward to the next season. Started Hawkeye, Allan is all into the Marvel shows. It’s entertaining.
I bought Allan some groceries to get him by while I’m gone. (He laughed). He’s working Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, good overtime $$.
I guess you’re feeling okay?
Not 100%, but not too bad.
Hope all goes well on your trip Barb.
How is it possible that when I go into the Spotify app I am not recommended Christmas music? 🤨
A slow start today for no particular reason.
Debbie has the flu, but is already feeling better. Good drugs help.
Made the trip to my sisters house yesterday and got the tour of her current project- tub replacement. Her daughter is working on the house next door, which was abandoned for 10 years or so. Making slow progress just trying to get the structure sound.
Stopped at the big liquor store in Tyrone for Nuccelo- a hazelnut flavored brandy (?) that they don’t carry in Luthersville. Also stopped at our CVS to get a script and had a couple other items- checked out at the pharmacy register and thought the bill was a little light. She charged me for the script, but not the other purchases, just piled them in the bag! Merry Christmas from CVS!
Good neighbor Steve is having a shindig tonight at his shop. I hear it’s going to be big! Report tomorrow.
Deciding on what to do today. My legs are still pooped from riding Tuesday! Maybe some scooter time if it isn’t too cold.

Home from my Betsy walk. It’s still cold out there, but warming up quickly. Part of me wants to go out to WLF for a few hours, part of me Ernte to sit on my ass.
Because I never feel “great†any longer the lazy part is winning currently.
