Good morning friends, and family. As the year progresses (today is September 30?), and the sun rises later and arcs lower in the northern hemisphere sky, I am getting up later. As I write this I still have an hour before sunrise.

Yesterday was a good day with more incredible weather. I spent the morning puttering around WLF. As I continue to be stunned at the date and I realize that I need to get seeds started for overwintering, I am scurrying to catch up. How did it get to be the end of September so quickly?

After choring I showered and ate my leftovers for lunch before meeting up with Bonnie for a walk. My legs needed a nice stroll to work out some lactic acid, and I wanted to be out in the weather some more as well. Bonnie and I strolled from her house down and around Grant Park, and back to her house; we covered about 4.5 miles. I was the “hare” for this excursion and guided us to stop into Bennett’s Market, a small general store / deli, that I have passed in a car on many occasions but have never entered. Though neither of us made a purchase yesterday we each agreed that we should return for a sandwich at some time.

Since Betsy was unavailable and Bonnie and I both decided going out to play bar bingo somewhere wading into the cards, last night I kicked sprung the house watching tv and pleasure reading. I really wanted to watch the Atlanta United game, but it was the only MLS game that I could not find being streamed on ESPN+ and I am not sure why that was. Was the game on a local station? Blacked out in the Atlanta area because it was played at Mercedes Benz? Who the heck knows…

Last night I also had a phone conversation with my brother. Did the opossum denude the fig tree of all its fruit last night?

Today should be my last entirely free day as I do need to start pretending that I am still an iOS developer who would like to earn a salary again some day.

I will be getting out to do more choring in WLF today. I have a few projects that I’d like to get underway in order to have the land in the shape I want it to have by next Spring. By getting these projects underway I will also start clearing out the basement again, should would be much-welcomed.

My final afternoon/evening of complete self-imposed freedom will see me reading, poring over Google maps for the Black Sheep trail, making dinner using ingredients currently on hand, and perhaps even taking a nap. 😂

Hope you are remaining well, and are ready to conquer the final quarter of 2021 starting tomorrow.

Not much to say. Today and tomorrow I have lots of chores to accomplish, but perhaps I will be able to get outside too. 🤞🏻

Bennett’s is an ofd place to me, it could be so much more. I guess they mostly make their money on sandwiches, which are good. It’s also nice having an emergency beer source a block and a half from my house.

Chiropractor visit went well, they have a table that you lie on & rollers massage your back. That helped a lot. Adjustment, no idea if that helped.
I may go back again Friday morning if they have an opening. My back feels better, not great, but better.

Need to pack, flight to Iowa leaves at 3pm tomorrow.

Us farmers getting ready for the winter have to stick together! I put out 100 lbs of winter rye on about 2 acres of pasture yesterday afternoon and followed it by dragging it in a little with our chain link drag. I caught up on several podcasts and enjoyed some quality time with Mahindra.

Debbie has a “girls dinner” tonight, so I’m probably going to amuse myself with a trip to Lowes. In my very near future, I have to build more stanchions for patron signage, since we have many more patrons. I almost threw out the jig I built to make them on the last dump run, but thought better of it.

Last free weekend before setup weekend next weekend and the Games the weekend after that. Then I can relax.

  5. Out in WLF choring, including a small fire to create ash for my yard.

Seems you are enjoying your sabbatical Paulie, I’m still employed for now (still ain’t moving to TX) we will see how long this lasts. If I get a severance check I will probably take some time as well.

If you are looking for anything to do Sunday morning before Black Sheep there is a Cyclocross race in Grant Park. Couple Hooligans are racing so I’m going down to spectate/heckle.

    • I have enjoyed my sabbatical immensely, and, hopefully will be able to have a ton of fun even while preparing to be employed again.

Hmm, I’ll have to think about that. Bonnie and I are reccying on Sunday…

  7. Sun is hidden behind clouds. Morning choring done. Shower taken. Lunch eaten. Now to watch a few videos before moving onto other chores.
