Yesterday was a good day, optimistically the first good day in a good week.
I went to Publix and bought a lot of BOGO items, as well as some things for which there was an Ibotta rebate. I received $8 in rebates from Ibotta, mainly on items like plant-based meats, that I’d normally purchase anyway. I find the best way to shop at Publix is to stick to as many BOGOs as possible. The only Ibotta mistake that I made was not getting a referral code from Bonnie, who introduced me to the service, before signing up. So, if you are interested in trying Ibotta, download their mobile app and then please get a referral code from her so she gets a little kickback.
Last night I decided to skip the hash which was up in Chamblee. Instead I convinced Bonnie to join me on a nearly 5-mile walk from her house, down the Beltline to The Beacon, around Grant Park, and back to Glenwood Park. Of course I packed a couple of celebratory beers for after the walk, you know, as if we were hashing. 😂
Welcome to ITP Cleaning Day! Today should be some sort of national holiday as I don’t do this very often… 🙄
Today I have to clean all of the camping gear that got muddied by the rain over the weekend. Once cleaned I then need to hang them to dry and put it all away before any chance of rain arrives during the week. As I deal with my camping gear I am also going to reorganize it a wee little bit based on the mental notes I made over the weekend.
Of course I’ll be getting out in WLF today as well. I may attempt to either transplant some seedlings or sow seeds into the raised bed that I cleared yesterday because all of the seedlings were eaten by something other than myself.
Since it’s Tuesday, a day on which I rarely have plans, I think that tonight I will continue the cleaning theme by baking a casserole containing vegetables in the refrigerator.
I don’t know why, but I am actually excited to knock out a bunch of these chores today. It must be the OCD in me, or just because it’s a holiday. 😂
Hope your week has started off on the right foot. Here’s to a good Tuesday.
Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 183.6 pounds (+0.2 from last week’s weigh-in); not great but considering how much I consumed over the weekend it’s okay.
I didn’t think of the Ibotta referral code either, however, when you mentioned joining Ibotta I didn’t really think you’d do it.
I think it’s fun to clean, re-organize and put away camping gear! 🤷ðŸ¼â€â™€ï¸ Except muddy tents. 😂
The husband comes home in about an hour so I suppose I should clear the rest of my camping stuff from his side of the garage…
Back then I had an income! 😂
*Fist bump* on the weight. I am still up a bit too. While we did drink a decent amount of higher-gravity beer, we really didn’t sit around and snack all the time. In fact, hardly ever. We just just snacked on beer and ate regular, fairly-reasonable-for-camping meals.
If you ever need single use paper & plastic products – let me know.
A friend brought a huge bag of stuff camping this weekend, and we already had plenty from hashing supplies over the years.
Yesterday I did some cleanup from the weekend, made chicken enchiladas with the leftover Mexican chicken. Cut a bunch of corn off the cobs to make something soon. Maybe some more sweet corn chowder – I suppose I could freeze it.
How does the corn taste compare to when you were eating it in Iowa?
It still tastes good.
Done with my morning choring! Camping gear has been cleaned and is now drying.
Spent a few hours in WLF. I sowed some seeds in the raised bed, watered and fertilized plants, and did some general maintenance. Of the crops out there isn’t a whole lot near picking time, with the exception of some peppers and green beans.
Sorry for the late check in from Birmingham.
Yesterday, the banks POS (point of sale) terminals in the cafeteria went down. I spent 8 hours trying to troubleshoot the problem, some of which was a waste of time when I realized parts I replaced weren’t working, even though new. They were too fast for old equipment. I did set my brother Sam up with a plan of action and he had them up by lunch today.
Meeting with a team of techs to plan for upgrades here in Birmingham as well as doing some upgrades to equipment. With their tech still on the DL after surgery, it’s easy work for me and would be painful for her second in line.
