Well, this is it, my final day working for “XYZ Corp”. I plan to make it a leisurely day. I also planned to make it an early ending day, but “XYZ Corp, Mark II” has scheduled my exit interview for 5pm Eastern. ☹️

Last night’s SLUT hash was unceremoniously canceled, but by the time that decision was made I had decided to not go to it. Instead, I invited Bonnie over to eat dinner and share some of the beers I purchased on my return from Florida. Bonnie brought over a block of tofu, and combined with an eggplant from WLF we made a stir fry dish that was topped with a teriyaki sauce I whipped up before her arrival. Note: with the ingredients on hand “teriyaki” sauce is simple and quick to make, so there is no need to buy it pre-made. The food turned out very tasty, and except for a couple of beers overflowing their can when opened, the beer was good too.

This weekend is fairly unscheduled thanks in part to the cancellation of tomorrow’s “Float the Hooch” hash.

I will be walking with Betsy and Bella tomorrow morning, and look forward to hearing about their trip to Maine.

There is discussion about floating the Hooch on Sunday, but I’m not sold on the idea yet. I can’t explain why I was sold on doing the hash on Saturday, but not doing the same thing without the hash on Sunday, but hey, I am not completely logical.

Anyway, have yourself a fantastic weekend and lets meet back here on Monday, Day #1 of Sabbatical #2.

  1. Did some morning choring, transplanting some squash, doing a little WLF cleanup. While outside a large owl flew over the farm and landed in the neighbor’s sweetgum tree and watched me work.

Owlie and I have a pact – Owlie promises not to attack me, and I promise to do whatever I need to do to allow Owlie keep its promise.

  2. Lol, watching an episode of “Holey Moley” in which the theme is “looking for love”. One of the female contestants just said “I’ve been single for three months now…” hahaha, poor thing. I was single for three months once, and have thus far tacked on many more years.

Check the ecoli levels of the hooch, I heard they are pretty high right now.

On the road to Iowa, looks like the gps says about 12 hours.
If we have room in the CRV, might bring back a bunch of sweet corn.
Need to fit an antique barrister bookshelf in & get it wrapped in blankets, then can decide how much extra room we have.

Did a 5 mile walk with Davey around Brookhaven (country club), looking at way too expensive houses yesterday morning. I remembered a million years ago doing a Wheelhopper around there.

I’ll check back in later to tell you how fun the roadtrip is. (Hahaha)

So long XYZv2, it was fun while it lasted. I guess.

The owl is not interested in you, but in the mice and other vermin in WLF. You are in his hunting territory.

Odd, but with 3 days to go, I’m not longer permitted to watch the Olympic replays via the Roku. Hoping to check back later and be granted access.

20 miles on the road bike after work. And speaking of work, for the moment, just 1 day a week on site! I can live with that.

Sat in the warm tub last night to watch the meteor show (Perseids) and had all but struck out in a half hour, then had a blazing one whose path glowed for a split second after it went by. Very cool.

    • Oh I know that the owl has no interest in attacking me… thankfully.

That is odd. Hopefully it’s a temporary glitch.

Good on ya for getting exercise! I need to follow your lead.

  5. Bob says:

Ecoli levels look to be low right now on the hooch. Here is what I use to check: https://www2.usgs.gov/water/southatlantic/ga/bacteria/index.php

There is also an app called “RiverApp” that you can use to see the dam release schedule. You don’t want to get caught up in a release and should always check that before getting on the river. Water comes up quickly and gets scary fast.

  6. Steve says:

And there was much rejoicing… NBC got their act together and I’m watching cycling again.

  7. Barb says:

Finally stopped for gas & lunch in Paducah, KY.
Road construction just past in IL was horrible, they have no idea how to zipper merge, some idiots trying to block both lanes, Allan decided to practically 4 wheel it to get past them. Always entertaining when we roadtrip!

  8. Killing time until 5pm. I feel less inspired to do anything today than I have in a long time.
