Well, those were some strong winds that just passed through East Atlanta. March has certainly come in like a lion! When the rain stops this afternoon I will have to go outside check on things and collect anything that has blow away/over, as well as check the body bag in my backyard. What?!?! Read on.

This was one of the most productive weekends that I’ve had in some time, mostly because I got a couple of major projects done.

On Friday I decided that I should go down into the basement and do some cleanup and prepping for what would happen on Saturday. I also made a trip to Aldi and picked up a few $2.75 frozen pizzas… 😋

After my walk with Betsy on Saturday I suited up and did a thing — I pulled the carpet from part of my basement! What I found was a lot of dust, padding which has obviously seen some water, and a fairly good concrete basement floor. I rolled the nasty carpeting into the backyard, and knowing that rain was coming surrounded if with heavy black plastic, which looks like a long body bag. Today I am going to contact the dumpster rental company to see about getting a receptacle for getting rid of the debris. I need to ensure that the dumpster can be delivered onto my driveway without hitting my phone and power lines. Pleased with myself I knocked one other chore and set about relaxing once I had showered and washed the hell out of the clothes in which I did the work. And the for reasons unknown I went to Kroger at 6:30pm on a Saturday. 🤦🏻‍♂️ The beer I purchased was much needed after that experience. Still with no tv in the den I watched YouTube videos and read a portion of a book before passing out on the couch from exhaustion.

Yesterday I was out before the sun in my freshly laundered yard clothes to do a bunch of urban farm work. I had a list of chores to knock out. I cleared out a lot of the clay soil (and roots) in the Frankenbed moving that dirt over to the FGP where it be used to level that area. I then filled the Frankenbed with a mixture of soils and manure in preparation to planting beans and peas into it; I’ve not figured out a trellis scheme yet… I also sowed a couple of trays of seeds to start indoor, planted some short carrots and radishes into some repurposed water jugs, planted the blackberry bush that was delivered last week into the front driveway “garden” area. And finally I then cleaned up my tools and self. Most impressively, this was all done before noon!

I joined Bonnie for a trip up to Lawrenceville for the Black Sheep hash. Unfortunately I’m still too broken to run trail, but I had a decent time wandering around with Davey Crochet while Bonnie went out and ran what sounded like a great trail. Some day. Some. Day.

Not sure if I will go to the hash tonight. I can make that decision later.

Hope you had a rewarding and healthy weekend.

There wasn’t a whole lot happening around here this weekend. I know I didn’t ride the road like I should have. Debbie did get out and ride Ceili a couple times, even with her bum leg.

I rode the scooter to the office yesterday. I didn’t notice the wind when I went in, but it was certainly blowing when I rode home. I thought about stopping into the ITP estate, but you were likely about to leave for BS.

Tried to find a nice (er) dinner last night and finally at the 3rd stop (an O’Charley’s) we were pretty disappointed. Debbie had to send her steak back to be un-cooked and the waitstaff was overwhelmed. They have never been high on our list and didn’t do themselves any favors.

Brown is back to feeling puny. He took his last antibiotic Saturday morning and hasn’t felt great since. Back to the vet in a few moments…

    • Bummer on all fronts. Hope the Brown Man returns to as good of health as can be expected at his age.

I’d be getting all the Brownie time in you can, this is classic old dog behavior, with swings between good days and bad days. When they’re feeling good, they’re feeling really good, and when they’re not, well…

Hey man, that dumpster company I used (Bin there dump that) uses smaller trucks to drop off the dumpsters, may be a better choice to avoid the larger trucks taking out your power lines. And no, I’m not a paid spokesman of this company 🙂

I need to have you all up for a Roswell ramble some day, I did 19 miles on Saturday with 3 beer stops. Trails, paths, beer stops, good times!

  3. From the sounds of today’s email, which let’s be honest the email made no sound at all thankfully, it appears that Spring Tune Up is still on. I’m keeping all fingers and toes crossed that I will be physically able to ride without (much) pain by then.

  4. steve says:

Lurker, that is one SWEET ride! Once you get it home, we will have to plan a ride.

    • ITP Lurker says:

Steve, definitely. I’ve never ridden Silk Sheets, but it’s on my radar, and I will definitely be spending some time on the Silver Comet Trail this spring and summer. I have aspirations of riding from Grant Park to Anniston on one day and from Anniston back to Grant Park the next day. I think that’s entirely feasible with this bike. I didn’t know there was a class of bikes called “endurance” bikes, but it’s exactly what I need.

  5. Man, this phone/power line situation at my house really stresses me out. Dumpster company says they need about eleven feet of clearance to drop off / pick up, and my goddamn phone line is close to that. I never should have let AT&T move the phone line to the pole that takes it over my house when the phone line was snapped off the house by an oversized vehicle many years ago.
