Thankfully my dental checkup went well yesterday, otherwise I’d have worry about my teeth in addition to my knee and elbow.

I had a nice walkabout with Bonnie last evening doing the majority of the Moonlight Hash. We skipped the part that climbed the wall and went into Oakland Cemetery, and thankfully I saw my car keys lying on the ground after they had fallen out of my pocket while shimmying under a fence in Cabbagetown. The start/end was 97 Estoria which looks promising as an outdoor drinking establishment when the weather warms slightly.

With no TV in front of which to fall asleep I went to a strange place last night —- my bed! Much like when on the futon and couch I passed out quickly, not even making it the end of the seventeen-minute long YouTube video I launched on my iPad.

As I reach the end of February still suffering knee pain I conclude my surgery, or perhaps my recovery, to be a failure. This sucks. Not that it will be a cure, but I will take today off from all exercise. I will probably do the same tomorrow, and whatever rain arrives at week’s end will help me not exercise further. This depresses me greatly, especially since today and tomorrow are supposed to be spectacular weather days in Atlanta. I suppose the closest thing to exercise I’ll do in the next two days is wash the mud off my mountain bike.

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 185.4 pounds (-0.2 from last week’s weigh-in); I’d be a lot happier about this if I weren’t still in pain of course. I have been getting complements from hashers about my weight loss, which is very nice. I’m not used to such behavior… 😂

Days Without an Amazon Purchase: 6

I’ll see your Amazon score and raise you- number of days without alcohol, 6! I foolishly gave up drinking for Lent. I think there will be an exception for a nice meal in a restaurant, but that will be a rare occurrence.

I spent some quality time on my tractor yesterday, pulling T posts that divided the old and new pastures. The herd had a way into the new pasture, but the closest point to the barn was still secure, so they would get to that corner and longingly look at the feed being poured into their buckets and then figure out they had to go the long way around to get to it.

It’s supposed to be almost 70 this afternoon, so there may be road riding! That would be nice.

Apparently, GCN’s race coverage is now further available in the US. I guess whoever had the competing contract didn’t renew. I think I’ll pull the trigger at $25 for a years coverage.

    • Alcohol is my only vice, I shall never give it up!

I have not been following GCN for awhile. I know that “cycling season” has “started” but I am out of the loop.

The weather today and tomorrow should be smashing! I probably will go outside and putter around. I have two raspberry bush plants to put into the ground before they die in the packaging.

    And there’s this:

As a kid who grew up watching the Apollo missions and their “animation”, this is nothing short of amazing.

  3. Bonnie says:

Paulie, could you try gently spinning on the trainer? You were doing that before, correct? Perhaps you’ll have to contract the new ortho doctor at some point.

    • Yeah, trainer riding should be okay. Due to the amount of “dust” I’ve seen recently I have become a little leery about spending a lot of time in the basement, especially exerting myself. Plus, the basement is a fucking mess at the moment. 😂

I’m sure I’ll be scheduling an appointment with the new orthopedic doctor soon. 😢

  4. Hit the first KEXP album that appears to be on Spotify but not Apple Music — Kurt Vile’s “Speed, Sound, Lonely KV”. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  5. Was going to go to Lowe’s at lunchtime but my desire to avoid people outweighed my desire to get more compost. I have enough to last me until 6am tomorrow.

  6. Decided it’s going to be a big day for Wee Little Farm, going to sow my first seeds outdoor in one of the raised beds today. To be sown today are radishes, lettuce, spinach, and carrots.

    • Steve says:

Are you wearing your overalls, farmer Paulie??

The land clearing guys stopped in for a bit. Still too wet to get on the ground with any big equipment and a bit too wet to burn. Said they needed about 4 days- 3 to dry and one to burn. I can’t imagine all this going up in a day, but maybe I misunderstood.

And I have been remiss on a Brownie update- he is doing much better. His head seems more stable and he’s eating well. The antibiotic should be taken with food, so he’s getting a little wet mixed into the dry. He walked across the street while the land guys were here, then came in a half hour later. Clearly up to Brownie things…

    • Overalls are probably the only thing I haven’t spent money on for this effort! It’s probably a good thing I didn’t buy any since they’d be far too large for my body at this time. 🎉🎉🎉

      Yay Brownie!

I just got notification I could order (more precisely, pre order) our Starlink internet service!! Mid to late 2021 will be the start of service in our area.

Apparently, it’s a strong enough signal to get through rain and fog! Better than our current satellite.

  8. Just returned from the Back 40. This farming thing is hard work, especially when you are a gimp.

Planted some carrots, radish, lettuce, spinach, onion, shallot, and turnip in a raised bed.

Planted many pepper and tomato varieties in trays for indoors.

Planted the blackberry plants from their package into an IKEA bag. The IKEA bag won’t be the final destination, but I haven’t figured out where that will be yet.

I also stirred my compost, and washed off my mountain bike!

  9. Wish I knew what I wanted to eat for dinner…

Pro tip: Planting before the light of the full moon on Good Friday is at your own peril.
