Hello, October.

Frustrating work, 45 minutes on the trainer, delicious food, virtual Top Chef with Betsy, still-swollen eyelid, poor sleep — my day in a sentence.

I have two weeks remaining in my library checkout of “Daisy Jones and The Six”. I need to ramp up my reading time in order to finish reading it on time.

I’m still not studying/preparing for German classes. I’m starting to wonder if it’s time to consider quitting since it costs me about $1300/year to take classes.

This month I’d like to get back to minimizing and getting my life in a manageable order.

Hope you are having a healthy and rewarding week.

To show how little I am thinking about meat eating these days, yesterday I had to add the “V” for every day except September 1st. 😮🤯

  1. I’m thinking about hiking in Canton or Woodstock this Saturday, does anyone have recommendations for where I should hike?

  2. Barb says:

Crazy day for me yesterday, work was extra hell after taking Tuesday off.
BUT, I have a new CRV! Went & get it after work, deal was good enough, I suppose I could have haggled more, but didn’t think it would do much good.
Got there at little after 6pm, out of there a little after 7.
Now to learn all the shit, so much technology, so many things to figure out.
Got the color I wanted, the AWD, and a hybrid.

  3. Steve says:

Congrats on the new ride, Barb! From the pics on FB, we couldn’t tell exactly what the color is. Dark blue or black? I hope it lasts like you previous CRV. How many miles on that before you put it down?

A fairly quiet day yesterday. After a second call to Ga Power, they finally got utilities marked. As we suspected, mostly along the driveway. There will still be several stumps I’ll have to cut off close to the ground instead of being extracted, as they are simply too close for comfort. Big trees have deep roots.

Debbie’s first day of the new job today!! Hopefully this will work out for her.

  4. Bonnie says:

Today my next-door neighbor’s 5-week deck renovation started at 8am. Ugh. Our houses are only a few feet apart. Well, at least they have it worse as they should birth their first kid today.

  5. Think I am going to have to buy a new computer soon, my six-year-old MacBook Air is really struggling to use the new version of Xcode. Xcode is critical for the livelihood of an app developer.

  6. Three bags with soil, only one still contains any hope of growing something. Guess in which one the squirrels continue to dig… 😡

  7. I hope my eyelid eventually returns to normal, otherwise I’ll never be able to look into a mirror again. #HowCanIBeSoVain

  8. Steve says:

We can get you an eyepatch… and a parrot. Maybe one of those who taught the others to swear!

  9. Tree company called, appointment for service quote 10/27. Since I have never heard back from other tree company about wood chips, I asked this one. Woman with whom I spoke said chips are free if they are associated with paid work. Huh, I assumed tree companies were falling over themselves to give them away to avoid disposal costs.

    • Steve says:

Some do, some don’t. Depends on where they are working. Might be worthwhile to put out an APB on some working nearby and see if you can talk them into a load. You know that’s a whole lot of chips, right?

      • I do know it’s a (literal?) ton. I have a lot of plans for them, and, it’s more free exercise! 😂

        • Bonnie says:

This just dawned on me, I think Maureen and Todd still have a big pile of wood chips in their yard. I think she offered to donate some to someone in need a while back. Clearly more effort involved in this case. Also, I just read that you shouldn’t use “homemade” mulch anywhere near your house, and some say it’s even risky out in your yard (termites). 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • Bob says:

They are catching on that people want free mulch. They are like dealers, first hit is free then you have to start paying LOL

    • barb says:

My tree guy (Wesley with RPM Trees) will bring us free mulch whenever we ask. He calls me & I have to say no most of the time. he knows I only want pretty mulch (hardwood) because pine mulch has too many needles mixed in.
they are based up here in Marietta, and they have to find places to dump it if the homeowner doesn’t want it.

  10. Trying to decide whether or not I will call into German class tonight. I am completely unprepared, and have so many other things that I need (want) to do today.

  11. HamWithCam says:

Lots of wood chips, older house, termites….
    (I’m just saying.)

    JG/HamWithCam
BTW: I made this pen for my EDC:
    https://www.flickr.com/photos/hamwithcam/50402416877/

Aluminum barrels (turned on the metal lathe) black enamel accents.

    • Steve says:

      Very nice, Ham.

So the doctor is wrapping up the patient visit and reaches into his pocket to write a prescription. He pulls a thermometer from his pocket, pauses, then says “Well, it looks like some asshole has my pen.”

      An oldie.

  12. Well, I didn’t expect to feel worse about things than I did when I posted this morning…

I just bricked my old iPad Air 2, and put a dent into the wood floor of my office at the same time. I wish I had been able to erase the contents prior to losing my temper when it rebooted unexpectedly for the second time in five minutes.

    • ITP Lurker says:

Yeow. I’ll bet you don’t do that again. I broke a keyboard long ago in a similar fit of rage, and haven’t destroyed anything in a similar fashion since. Sounds like you need to get outside and get some air.

    • Ironically I was attempting to comment with “Well, I didn’t expect to feel worse about things than I did when I posted this morning…” when it rebooted twice, sending me into a momentary rage.

If I can resuscitate it, I will wipe it clean and send it back to Apple for recycling. It’s battery is too poor for much else.

  13. Par for the course today I had to cut my anger management walk short because I thought a long-sleeved shirt was a good idea; it was certainly not!

I will attempt to avoid making any more decisions today since all of the ones I’ve made thus far have turned out badly.
