Happy Good Friday all! I’m not a celebrator, but I will not argue with a paid day off from work thanks to “XYZ Corp”. Speaking of The Corp, today marks my three-year anniversary of employment with them. See, you don’t have to get married to celebrate anniversaries.

I did make a Kroger run yesterday, getting most of the things on my list. It became abundantly clear that Apple never envisioned mask wearing when it created Face ID, as it doesn’t work. I tried to let it fail so that I could unlock with a passcode, but that was tedious.

Still no German books. Their status showing on Amazon is “late”, yeah, no shit Sherlock. Oh wait, the USPS reports that I will have a package delivered today!

I didn’t sleep particularly well, probably since I spent the night crying because I didn’t win any of the ten bingo games played with hashers via Zoom last night. To make lemonade out of the lemons given to me by my inability to sleep, I mixed up and baked a wonderful pumpkin bread. How do I know it’s wonderful? Because I couldn’t wait for it to cool completely and ate a large slice as my breakfast.

I was going to attempt yard work (lol “yard” was auto-changed to “hard”, and we all know that’s not right) today, but today’s chilly weather may keep me indoors cleaning/organizing/decluttering instead. My calf may be well enough to ride the trainer again as well. I need the exercise as I’ve done non the past two days.

My plans include doing a lot of cooking today, but I may decide to support the village instead. Or more likely, I will do so tomorrow.

Have a great weekend all.

  1. For those who:
    – like gravel cycling
    – listen to podcasts

You may want to listen to the “Breakfast with Boz” (presented by Wahoo Fitness) podcast. I’ve heard a few of the episodes done by the former-world-class-road-cyclist-turned-gravel-enthusiast Ian Boswell and find it mildly entertaining. Newsflash: Boswell’s plans for 2020 have changed drastically for some reason. 😉

I can already tell today won’t be a good network day- Speedtest could only measure download at .08 Mb/s with a 211 ms ping time. Oh joy.

I was on a call yesterday of techs like myself from across the system and it was reported 18,000 FRB employees are working from home. Considering the network needed, they should be pretty proud of being able to support that number.

Got a nice ride in last night on the CX bike- 23 miles, about half on gravel. Well, at least half the time.

Chilly out now. Slept with windows open last night and it may have actually been cold in the bedroom when I woke up.

I won the 10th game of bingo! I supposedly won 19 lottery scratch-off cards, but I’m thinking they are already scratched off, based on the other “prizes” awarded… I used my iPad for Zoom this time and it worked better, as I could see 9 people per page and of course it’s larger than my phone. I swear the show-as-grid button was not on my iPhone last time… 🤔 My dining room table had quite the look with the contraptions I had set up to raise the height of the iPad and keep it from falling over. 😂

    • In the past I purchased tabletop photo holders to use as iPad stands. I have a plastic “tablet stand” from IKEA that you can borrow and try if you’d like.

      • Bonnie says:

Maybe I will, thanks. My iPad cover has an integrated stand but it tilts it back which doesn’t work well for video conferencing.

        • barb says:

Paulie- that’s a great idea on the stand.
My cover stands my iPad up enough that it works for me.
I don’t like having more than 9 people on a call, I hate trying to swipe back & forth to see people. I guess one day I could actually use the laptop we have, but, that would involve me using it at the desk, or moving it to somewhere more interesting. My iPad is easier.

      • Okie doke. I’ll sanitize it, as well as the container you delivered food in a few weeks ago die and try to get both to you sometime soon.

  4. If you are Jonesing for things to watch soon, I saw this article yesterday: SXSW has teamed up with Amazon Prime to launch a free digital film festival

    from the article…

The digital film festival is free to anyone with an Amazon account (no Prime membership necessary). In a press release, the festival said filmmakers have the choice to opt in to the online film festival, and the filmmakers who join the festival will receive a screening fee for their films’ 10-day run. A date has not yet been announced, but the organizations are aiming for a late-April date.”

  5. barb says:

so- who organized hasher bingo? that’s a hilarious idea.
How many people did you have playing?

  6. Amazing what you can find on YouTube, I am watching Justin Wilson’s cooking show. The episode uploaded was made when he was too old to make new episodes, so he introduces a rerun from twenty years earlier. The original show was made before I knew about Corona beer, never mind Coronavirus! I garooooontee!

    • ITP Lurker says:

I *love* Justin Wilson. “A little wine for the chef, a little wine for the saunce…” I’ll have to check that out.

  7. How many Paulies does it take to replace a lightbulb? Apparently one. One of my bathroom lights burned out, thankfully I keep replacements in stock.

  8. barb says:

so – I was watching an episode of The Resident (filmed her in ATL) and they had a couple episodes about the hospital getting a super bug – a corona virus. This was filmed months & months ago. They had to put a disclaimer at the beginning of the show about it. It was interesting – as I don’t know (or didn’t know) that much about corona viruses before this.

    • Huh, that’s interesting. I’ve seen cooking videos where they start by mentioning it was filmed before the pandemic, I guess because they are using things like flour.

  9. Since I failed to buy sweets at Kroger yesterday 🤦🏻‍♂️ I think that I am going to attempt this recipe today, Instant Pot Churro Bites (Without A Muffin Mix).

    • Bonnie says:

I am so glad I don’t have most of these ingredients/apparatuses on hand!!! 😂 😋 These would not fare well with my bingeing personality…

  10. barb says:

I decided to bring a speaker to the office so I can listen to some music – its just me today, the other girl that has been coming in, decided to call in sick today.
Kris Kristofferson isn’t too bad as background music. I think I’ll try some Johnny Cash next. I’m really starting to appreciate the story telling of old country music.

  11. Starting to feel guilty as I hear people outside doing yard work. I may have to shut the doors and windows! 🤣🤣🤣

  12. Steve says:

You guys are cracking me up today.

YouTube is a dark hole when I have lots of bandwidth. chainsaw milling, wood turning, Russian dash cams, you name it!

After you were talking about bingo, I’m looking at some online dominoes. Be warned.

    • barb says:

I was trying to figure out if we could play dominoes, just the 2 of us – maybe have 2 racks each?

    • Bonnie says:

Hmmm I may have to price dominoes on Amazon! Or maybe I can make my own out of something random I have laying around the house. Like scrap paper and a marker. 😂

  13. Making enchiladas for lunch! ¡Ole!

  14. I’m feeling a touch guilty that it’s noon(ish) and I have done little more than make and clean food messes today.

  15. German books are in my possession, no more excuses! 🙄

  16. Steve Brady says:

And this news flash, the Fed is sending out the checks!! $7.6B for the first wave.

    You’re welcome.

    (snip)
As of the distribution of this communication I am pleased to report that we have already completed an initial distribution of EIP payments to FedACH receivers (approximately 4.4 million items totaling $7.8 billion).

  17. Weird day, the Amazon Fairy arrived with gifts, and I just had a second lightbulb burnout.

  18. Also, I received an email from Fox alerting me that the Fox Soccer Pass will be discontinued at the end of June. They will not be airing Bundesliga games next season, which may also mean that I will lose the opportunity of watching Bundesliga 1 and Bundesliga 2 Games at home.
