Apparently going out hashing and then staying out until 12:15am wasn’t a great idea? I had a horrible night of sleep, or lack thereof, waking often with a headache. It’s going to be a rough day today…

The Australian Rugby League started today. There is an iOS app for watching games, but alas the content is not available outside Australia and New Zealand. 🤬 I was going to try to see if I could use a VPN to appear that I was there, but it’s not worth the effort to me.

    Same! 🙄

You think you had a bad day? Wait for Barb to check in!!

After working from home yesterday, I started changing the tires on the scooter. Watched several YouTube videos and thought “how hard can this be?” After 4 hours of work, I finally managed to get the front wheel off (not an issue) remove the old tire (holy crap) and partially mount the new one. Finally injuring myself enough to bleed, I decided I’d had enough for one day! Going to check with the motorcycle shop to buy some real tire irons.

4 Fed districts (Boston, NY, Chicago and SF- of which Seattle is a branch) have gone to a “work from home” status. I believe we will be with them shortly.

I don’t own a motorcycle, and never will, but out of curiosity I watched a YouTube video on how to change a tire yesterday. It looks pretty damn hard to me, especially if you don’t have one of those special tire stands to keep the wheel on while you’re working on it, as well as those special tire spoons. Plus the dude kept saying, “it’s not hard once you’ve done it a few times”. Therein lies the catch.

      • Steve Brady says:

The process is the same as a bicycle tire “in theory”. The difference lies in the wheel circumference and density of the material. I had some levers, but the right levers would have helped.

Mine is rougher, without the hangover.
    Here’s the saga-
Great start to the trip- 1st class seats to JFK.
Get on 2nd plane, Trump makes an announcement about a 30 day ban on travel.
Everyone freaks out, gets off the plane.
Lines 100s of people long trying to talk to Delta.
Give up on talking to Delta, Get a hotel room nearby with a shuttle , get in a shorter line to beg the baggage services people to not send our bags back to Atlanta. (Per Delta app, they are still at JFK)
Once Allan wakes up, we will head back to airport.
Trying to decide if things in NYC will be closed, how long should we stay here?

  4. Oh joy, the stock market is tanking again today….

  5. Steve Brady says:

And they just announced “work from home” starting tomorrow for at least a week.

    • With all of us working from home I feel badly for the restaurants that rely on a lunch crowd. Of course with the way the stock market is going I won’t have the money to go out eat much anyway…

  6. Steve Brady says:

Try not to look at the market… the underlying economy is in pretty good shape, so should recover some of its value… I hope. (gulp)

  7. Barb says:

Omg, been at jfk for over an hour, Delta agent finally got thru.
Might finally be able to book a flight back home.

  8. In other account phishing scams, I received an email from “Ńetflix” (notice the accent on the N) today alerting me that my payment failed. The too provided a convenient link for me to clock so that I could log in… I am glad that I am a skeptical person. 😉

I had paid a sponsorship fee so that I could speak at a conference in Charlotte at the end of the month, but I decided to cancel today not so much because I’m worried about getting sick, but rather because I don’t think hardly anyone will show, which meant my marketing efforts would be for naught. The conference organizers are graciously refunding my sponsorship fee, which is a relief. My plan B would have been to transfer the money to a future event, but given the impending uncertainty, I’ll take the cash, thank you. It was annoying to actually have to call the hotel and cancel, for some reason the online reservation screen didn’t have a Cancel button anywhere on it.

  10. Barb says:

    Rebooked to come home Monday.
My bag retrieved, Allan’s got shipped to SLC.
    Should be back this evening.
    Staying at…….. Trump Tower tonight.
A friends brother has a place there.
We will get a hotel for Friday thru Sunday.
Gonna be interesting, they have lots of security there.

  11. Well, it appears the swim meet at GA Tech for which the Raleigh Royalty are in was just canceled.

    • Bonnie says:

Wow. But I’m not really surprised based on what I’ve been seeing today… Just went to Kroger and lots of shelves are empty. Lots of staples sold out, like rice. Every parking spot in the Krobar parking lot is filled. Every. One.

  12. Barb says:

    Broadway is cancelled.
    Museums are closed.
Guess I will try to rebook our flight again
