Last night’s Turkey trail was a good run, with an unfortunate series of events at the end. The kitchen at the brewery ending, Halfway Crooks in Summerhill, closed at 9pm, before the Eagle trail hashers finished their trail. It was decided that we’d move the ending to Black Sheep Tavern on Edgewood Avenue, which as Glory Mole and I found out upon arrival was closed even though all online information declared otherwise. A decision was made to go to Edgewood Pizza, but as it was 9:50pm when this decision was made, I chose to go home instead. Unfortunately for Glory Mole, who rode to the hash with me, I cheated her of experiencing the ending.

I need to return to exercise that doesn’t rely on my legs and hurting ankle, though the tendinitis in my right forearm and elbow now limits those possibilities too. I wanted to wake early to ride the trainer, but after doing some actual jogging last night my legs are beat and ankle is sore. I am typing this blog post instead of pedaling. Sadly there may be no time to exercise later because of work and German class, however since I have been working since 6:00am perhaps I can find time to go for a walk if the weather is nice.

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 212.4 pounds, -2.0 from last week’s weigh-in.

  1. Crowd Sourcing Question #1: Do you know of a running track that is open to the public? Bonnie and I are interested in calibrating our exercise apps and think walking/running laps is a good way to do so.

Phoenix Park, on Georgia Avenue near Summerhill.

Also, I think Halfway Crooks is aptly named, I had a half-way experience the one time I went. I sure don’t understand the brewpub mentality of charging full price for beer that I have to go to the bar and fetch on my own. I can stay home and fetch my own beer. I go out because I want service.

They had a vegetarian Rueben I wanted to try, but alas, I could not. I didn’t try their beer either, though some of our group snuck in a quick one.

Their “award-winning frites” were nothing to write home about. I much prefer IPAs, of which they have none. The pale ale was fine, again, nothing to write home about. Apparently they have a cool rooftop, but we didn’t go up there.

          • Bonnie says:

Agree, I am also an IPA gal, particularly double IPAs. Or imperial stouts. The main reason last night is the first time I’ve passed through it’s doors…

        • “Worst Frites” could be an award, no? 🙄😂

I’d never heard of Halfway Crooks and now after seeing their website probably never will. That’s one big awful website right there. (yes, I judge people for their websites)

    • Stacy Fox says:

Indoor or outdoor? If outdoor, there’s always the Active Oval in Piedmont Park. If I’m not mistaken, one lap is just over 1/2 a mile.

  2. Crowd Sourcing Question #2: Have you ever seen King Oyster Mushrooms in Atlanta area grocery stores? So many recipes I find call for them, but I have not seen them in Kroger, Whole Foods, or Aldi.

Question #1- once upon a time, the track at Grady was open. I don’t know if that was usual or not.

The podiatrist was pleased with my current condition and said not to come back. I’m working from home today as I have an even earlier doctors appointment this afternoon. At the last visit to the dermatologist, he found something he didn’t like and sent a sample off to the lab. As it came back malignant (?, positive??) I’m getting the rest of it dug out of my collarbone area. I love good insurance.

    Enjoy your day!

…Grady HS (adjacent to Piedmont Park)?

*Fist bump* Paulie on being down two pounds. 🙂 My Saturday debauchery weight gain fell off today. 🙂

  6. Nicked another curb. I am incapable of driving (this car?). I need to get it fixed and move on. Oh hey, sounds a lot like the ITP Estate!
