My dream of a “normal†day has already been shattered. In going to charge a Bluetooth speaker this morning I found the end of the USB cord severely frayed. I try to be very careful with my things, and the amount of damage was much more than a simple crimp would have produced. My mind is a flurry with notions, though no sign of rodent which would gnaw such a cable, nor signs of overheating/melting were present.
None of the other USB cables connected to the same charger appeared to have suffered damage.
I remain perplexed.
Can I get a do-over?
I noticed one was frayed when you (we ðŸ˜) were charging your phone in the car the other day. I think it was green? I’m not even sure how it could charge it looked so bad. I almost said something (because frayed cords scare me) but then didn’t…
The fraying was right near the end that you insert into the phone.
I have had cables fray, but mostly the rubber cable coating separates from the thing you hold to plug it in. This cable, a gray one that came with the speaker, was damaged to a much greater extent.
When last I used this cable, Sunday?, there was no damage to it whatsoever. 🤷ðŸ»â€â™‚ï¸
Ah, I see. Well that does not sound good, yikes.
Which is why the normalcy of my day has been removed. ☹ï¸
A friend just passed along this article about surrender vs. control strategies. I’m not going to name who among us would benefit from reading this: 😉 Well, I for one would.

You people… your world isn’t coming to an end. Deal.
The word for the day is HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARB!! I hope you have a wonderful celebration of your 39th birthday!
There was more quality time spent with Mahindra last night- I don’t think I’m quite halfway through. Might take tonight off and go get some exercise- if it wasn’t so f’ing hot.
And just a reminder that Sunday is Cheesy Yellow TdF at P.E. and Saddle Sores. Bring your friend Barb.

Yes, a HBD to a fellow 1965er.
I’ll be at Enema’s Sunday. Not sure what I will do, and need to leave in time to get set for Black Sheep that afternoon.
If I am allowed to crash this party uninvited, I suppose I can come check out why cycling racing is so exciting to some folks ðŸ˜.
You can crash the party. You can ride with me, and we can discuss what form of exercise we’ll do.
Okie doke, thanks!
Happy birthday Barb!
Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Sunday – it all depends on what Mary & I do Saturday night, and if another friend comes to spend the night. Allan is working all weekend. We will see……… I do want to attend the Cheesy party, its been a couple years.
So far so good (even if I’m at work) – we are finally going to a new phone system called Ring Central. We have a guy here trying to teach us how its all web based, so really, except the headset, you don’t even need a phone.
My birthday next week makes it a 1965 trifecta. Happy birthday Barb!
that’s right – we are all 3 about the same age!
and – I’m with Steve – “‘shattered”??? That’s a bit dramatic.
Unless you do find out its a critter – but even then………….
We have moles (or some other critters) messing with our grass, digging all kinds of holes, and thus messing up the grass. I think the solar rodent repellers I bought might be working, but not fast enough for me.
“and – I’m with Steve – “‘shatteredâ€??? That’s a bit dramatic.”
Triggers are everywhere. Lord knows I have my share. I was going to make a similar comment to Steve’s earlier, but I realized that we all have things that pull us down rabbit holes unexpectedly. It’s definitely easy to diminish someone else’s triggers. In this case I will say that it’s not really about the cord, it’s completely about something else unresolved, but the cord is easy cover.
Ugh, unfortunately my day just got a little worse — a kitchen cabinet at work snapped shut on the top of my left ring finger. My finger hurts a lot and has been throbbing for about five minutes.
Slowly getting better, *man* that was painful!
Allan has smashed so many fingers on this kitchen project – its been awful. I know how much that hurts.
