Yesterday was a day, nothing special. I did stop at the original Hodgepodge coffee shop for an afternoon pick-me-up. I’m always amazed how many people are in coffee shops during my normal work hours.

Once again I’m in the office before 6:00am because it’s warm out and I couldn’t sleep. Initially I was going to visit the Waschsalon this morning, oh yeah I saw that East Atlanta’s only lavanderia has now closed, but I didn’t want to wait around until its 7:00am opening.

If ITP-Reader (a callback to the olden days around here) Bonnie reads today’s post she’s either doing so via in-flight WiFi, or because she has jet lag; either way, I hope that you had a marvelous trip and I missed hashing with you.

Yesterday was full of meetings. Rare that I go from one to another, but at least one was like that. The national CRM team is here meeting and invited us to Taco Mac last night, so I felt obligated to drink. 2 Jailhouse Brewing stouts later and I was feeling no pain!

What’s everyone riding this weekend? Haven’t heard much on the BRAG front.

Brag people have a FUN 1st day – 75+ miles form Ellijay to Gainesville.
So many people are not thrilled with this from the chatter on their FB page.

I’ll be in WI – family roadtrip for my niece’s graduation – 7+ hour drive from Cedar Rapids to Superior – 7 people in a minivan. It will be reminiscent of the 70s roadtrips in the station wagon.

    • Saturday will consist of a combination of the following —
yard cleanup, house chores, German homework, personal coding assignments — all followed by a going-away party for a Urban Explorers friend.

My block is having a block party on June 8th and I need to get my front yard looking a lot better.

Sunday is a Black Sheep hashing day! It’s going to be super hot, so I will probably do very little beforehand.

Also, I should probably figure out the trail I am going to lay on Monday (Memorial Day).

and – I need to ride my bike – but not sure when I ever have time. Allan is working Saturday & Monday – so I know he will have a project for us on Sunday.

BTW – is Black Sheep start posted yet?

  2. Barb says:

    Allan’s QOTN last night –
“AFR training has come in handy – this ceiling hook made tearing out the ceiling easy!”
Now the kitchen is completely to the studs.
We whitewashed stain on tongue n groove boards – we will have a wooden ceiling.
(we really didn’t want to have to hire out a drywall ceiling guy)
Dinner was a pizza on the Egg at 9pm.

Watched the LIVE remake of All In the Family & The Jeffersons – it was fun, its amazing how different the scripts were back them from sitcoms today.

    • I saw that constantly advertised on YouTube recently, but never paid enough attention to know where or when it was going to be shown.

      • Barb says:

Jimmy Kimmel is the guy that made it happen behind the scenes. Norman Lear is 96 or something like that?
Marisa Tomei as Edith, Woody Harrelson as Archie, Jamie Foxx as George Jefferson – they all did an excellent job.

This sounds like it might have been a hoot- I remember many a Sunday night glued to the ‘toob watching All in the Family.

I went to the new Dairies Coffeeshop and Cold Brew on Memorial in the Atlanta Dairies complex. It’s so excruciatingly hip that I almost couldn’t stand it. It starts with them being cashless, so bring a credit card. Also you can’t add a tip to your purchase, you have to Venmo it separately. Their story is that tipping is “awkward”. Um, having to fucking Venmo my goddamn tip is what’s awkward. Nice space though, especially the patio, and my Americano good. They gave us samples of their cold brew, which was surprisingly good. I’m a black coffee kind of dude, but I’d order a cold brew latte if I go back. The food menu is overwhelming to me, with a blizzard of choices. My bespoke “overnight” oatmeal came in a quaint little mason jar. Oh, and at the end you have to bus your dishes to these clever drawers marked “Dishes” in small print. I haven’t ever felt so old in a coffee shop before. Park Grounds around the corner or Joe’s in EAV is so much more my speed.

    • Huh, interesting.

I would have gone to Joe’s because I wanted a sweet with my coffee, but there was no parking in the village and I figured there would be no place to sit at that time of day (3:30pm).

    • Barb says:

you have to Venmo a tip? I’d be like…….. um – you get no tip now.
can you give them cash for a tip? then maybe they’d get one.
I’ve barely used that app – so I really don’t know how it works yet.

      • Steve says:

Venmo? Heard of it, but don’t think I’ve ever used it. I guess I won’t be riding my fixie to THAT establishment!!

        • ITP Lurker says:

Venmo is an smartphone app for sending cash to others. Paypal bought it recently. The whole place was just a bit too precious for my tastes.

      • ITP Lurker says:

I didn’t try giving them cash, I was trying to wrap my head around the whole concept. I ended up Venmoing a tip because my friend paid for my breakfast. He used to work as a bartender, so tipping is a religion for him. In a good way.

    • ITP Lurker says:

You can also cashlessly pay for a plaid shirt and/or trucker hat, in case one isn’t hip enough to fit in already. Apparently the future is now.

      • Steve says:

Maybe they should just rent them out while you’re there?

        • ITP Lurker says:

Oh, well played, Steve. Kind of like how fine dining restaurants used to provide a community coat and tie for patrons not appropriately attired. Yes, this would be the modern incarnation.

Thanks Paulie! Back in the USA! Flew home from Munich in a Delta One pod—whoa!! It’s the shit!! Glad to see the kitties 😻😻. I have to get up at the crack to take Willow to the vet for a re-check and then to a friend’s good-bye breakfast. Wish I could sleep in, oh well…
