A fairly quiet weekend around this place. Friday night we finally celebrated Valentine’s Day at a nice restaurant. We ate way too much sushi.

Saturday, Debbie took off for a fox hunting in Alabama. I went and visited my motorcycle in the hospital. The motorcycle is being put back together now after the diagnosis of ” this has an aftermarket computer and we really don’t know what to do it so we want to rewire the whole bike back to stock”. As that’s not gonna happen – they’ll be putting it all back together and do what I originally asked for which was an oil and filter.

Sunday I didn’t leave the property in a motorized vehicle. I did manage to clean house and then go for an hour road ride.

Now more errands today to celebrate Presidents’ Day.

I was thinking hashing a cold and drizzly Black Sheep yesterday whilst still trying to get over an illness wasn’t the best idea I’ve had, and then after falling off a log (really more of a branch) into chest deep cold water within the first 5 minutes of trail, I don’t feel worse and may even feel a bit better today! 🙌🏻 Who knew. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I discovered on Saturday why I’ve never been indoor rock climbing before. Got to the top of my first wall, and realized there was no way I was going to be able to jump backwards and let the auto-belay system take me back down the ground. All of my trust issues and control freak tendencies flared like a sudden forest fire. I climbed back down. After a few more climbs and test “jumps” from 3 feet up, I eventually climbed a wall that had some moving elements. I liked that wall best, but due to the movable parts and the peg-like handholds, I had no choice but jump to get down from that one. I climbed that wall, and jumped again, but by that point my arms were fatigued, so it was a good point to call it a day. Regardless, progress was made.

Nice long walk yesterday partly down the new “Beltline” off of Boulevard, culminating at a stop at The Little Tart in Summerhill for an americano. I’m so glad to finally be able to spend money on Georgia Avenue outside the stadium on something other than parking or liquor. Not that I ever set foot in the Azar establishment.

wow- I’ve never tried to rock climb, I don’t feel like I have enough hand strength. That’s awesome you did it.

      • ITP Lurker says:

Thanks, Barb. Certain walls can require a lot of hand strength. They also have some 45 degree walks that apparently people with mega hand strength can hang from like bats? I didn’t see anyone working those walls, er, ceilings rather.

So Lurker, you can’t lean into the resistance at the top? We used to repell off the band building in HS. No climbing involved. That was fun.

      • ITP Lurker says:

Yeah, I climbed up expecting to just ride the rope back down. No way. It was a visceral reaction. But I got there with some effort.

    • Bonnie says:

Whoa *fist bump* I don’t think I have the strength to rock climb. Funny, we’ll probably pass each other on the Beltline and not know it… 🙂

      • ITP Lurker says:

Given how much time I spend on both the paved and non-paved portions, yes, there’s a good chance of that! 🙂

Busy as hell at work of course.

good times in FL – trail riding at Santos in Ocala was interesting – so flat you just pedal & pedal & pedal. Fun winding thru the woods stuff, a landbridge over 75 was cool. Rode about 21 miles.
Learned some new stuff about the camper over the weekend – like how to run it out of water. I wasted too much trying to get hot water in the shower (when Allan didn’t have the heat on & I had no idea) but – it was late Saturday night, so we were fine.

Almost had a flat tire on the truck – it had a slow leak, but we have a portable pump that works off the cigarette lighter (do we still call it that?), so just added some air to get it back to full to get home. Truck is at the shop for them to fix, since it needed an oil change anyway.

  5. Well this is unfortunate. Girl Scout cookie orders arrived today and I found out that I ticked the column for “Samoas” and not “S’mores” so I now have a box of cookies with coconut on them; I don’t like to eat coconut.
