Used the “Soup” mode of the Instant Pot for the first time to make my rendition of that butternut squash soup last night; I added an entire can of coconut milk instead of 1/2 cup, a habanero pepper that I had on hand, and also some red curry paste. It was, and will continue to be, rather tasty.

It’s gonna be your fault when I buy one of those damn things one day. 😉

OMG – I actually went to the Y last night for a spin class.
Met up with Vanessa (aka HoPo). It was fun, I didn’t push it too hard, as I’m way out of shape.
We’ve decided we are going to make each other meet up there at least a couple times a week – we need to use out memberships that we pay for more.
I might go to a Pilates class with her on Saturday – I know that will kill me.

Good for you! I used to do some spinning and still have my spinning shoes. I don’t want to think about how many gym membership dollars over the years I wasted. Oh yeah, and my current one 🙄. But technically it’s bundled into my pool membership so I can sort of justify not using it. 😏

      • ITP Lurker says:

At least I only did that once. Signed one gym contract, paid it out without going back after a time or two, and swore never again. But rest assured I’ve found myriad other ways to waste my money over the years. 🙂 🙂 🙂

my next goal is to get back into yoga, but I’m terrible about trying to do it at home. And most of the classes I can do to are at 7:30pm – but them I’m home & not in the mood to go back out.

I have to go to a class, otherwise I’ll never do yoga. I’ve been going once a week for about 3 1/2 years now. It’s meant my progress isn’t fast, but I’m definitely seeing it accumulate. So even if you only fit it in once a week, over time you’ll start to see and feel the benefit. I’ve been doing a slow paced stretch/restorative class, but based on a recent experience I realized I’m ready to try to fit in a “normal” yoga class at least a couple of times a month.

I used to do yoga regularly (gym class) and wow I could see the results! I was like a different person! I took more of a power yoga type class usually. I too am bad about doing it at home, but my “gym” doesn’t have classes (it’s just a small room with a few pieces of equipment next to the pool).

        • I’ve never done yoga. Shame on me.

It’s never too late to start. It took some trial and error to find a class and instructor that suited me. For instance, I tried a “hot” yoga class, where they crank up the heat and power through the positions. I was wildly in over my head. I found something with a much slower pace that let me develop my coordination over time. The right class is out there for you if you decide to give it a try.

          • Perhaps I will check out classes at LA Fitness (and use that membership for which I pay)…

          • Barb says:

I’m with Lurker – start with a stretching/restorative type of class – the flow classes can be intimidating – I can’t keep up at all. Hot Yoga – NEVER!

    • Well done Barb. I used the excuse of needing to wash dishes and cook dinner to skip training last night. 🐀🐀🐀

Have I mentioned that I made a delicious soup? 🙄🙂

    • ITP Lurker says:

The personal trainer is really helping me leverage the yoga and bike riding I’ve done over the past couple of years. Finally starting to feel like I have some autonomy over body. But all of the progress sure does evaporate fast if I let up. Which means I’m gonna double-down and do more.

I spent 40 minutes doing a Sufferfest video. They relieve the boredom somewhat. If I ever get Internet to the man-cave, I could spend much more time on the trailer.

Tomorrow, we head to a fox hunt in Middle Georgia. The location has cabins they are trying to promote and some sort of meal plan nearby. Sadly, it is supposed to rain, so that may dampen things a bit. Pun intended.
