Another fantastic weekend for me. Saturday was spent in and around the EAV Strut. Yesterday I did a bike ride with Urban Explorers that started at Lindbergh station, went up to and around Chastain, and ended at R Thomas on Peachtree. After drinking three large glasses of water (!) and eating some food a handful of us rode to, and then down, the BeltLine to get back to the ‘hood. When all was said and done I think I rode over twenty miles on my mountain bike.
Currently at the the Waschsalon. office of “XYZ Corpâ€.
Bike races Friday and Sunday. Racing at the track was good, though the women’s field was 6, and they were paying 15! Same story yesterday- I think there were 8, paying 15. More small fields yesterday, and it was a shame as the organization was great. Apparently they have a 3 year grant from the “Airport District” to put on races. Yesterday’s course was tough- a big hill and 7 turns in just over a kilometer. Maybe a slightly different course would help.
Now that the weekend is over, maybe we’ll get a little rain. I got a bit dripped on this morning already.

Steve: I think it would be fun to check out a race like this, if I wouldn’t have had a full weekend planned, I would’ve liked to go. I’ll keep an eye on your posts and maybe I can attend another one sometime.
Ran across a vegan Instapot carrot soup recipe:

Nice. Theoretically soup season is coming…
Lurker: Yum! Funny you posted this, I was just saying yesterday I was considering purchasing an Instant Pot. We shall see… I am ready for soup season :).
I’d see about borrowing Paulie’s first, so that you can try before yo buy. 🙂 I’m assiduously resisting the Instant Pot cult, as evidenced by me misspelling the name originally. 😉
In any case, how you have a starter recipe to break it in with!
So I really just need a new rice / grain cooker. (Yes, I am aware you can cook rice / grains on the stove.) In looking at rice cookers I see that for a little more money I could buy a low-end smaller instant pot (that also cooks rice), so I’m thinking about it. I’m not really a cook so it seems like it would be a good match with my skill set, or lack thereof. And I’m all about a one pot meal. I do have a crockpot, but you know, it’s not Instant :). For a person that doesn’t really cook gourmet meals, I have a shit ton of kitchen gadgets and what-not, even after giving away a decent chunk of items before I moved to Atlanta 😂.
I think it would make sense to get an Instant Pot then. You’ll have a boatload of recipes at your fingertips, such as these 31: https://nutriciously.com/vegan-instant-pot-recipes/
When I cook rice, it’s in the microwave (frozen rice from Trader Joe’s), so at least you’re doing better than me on that count. 😉
Huh, I was certain I had seen that page previously, but some of those recipes are unfamiliar to me and look delicious.
Cool! I’m not vegan, I just did a quick search on vegan Instant Pot recipes, and picked a site at random. I’ll look forward to seeing how your choices turn out.
(forgot to hit send before)
busy morning- even busier weekend.
Driver out to Augusta (technically Appling, GA) Friday – traffic was HORRIBLE, there is a reason I don’t leave Marietta.
Camping & wheelhoppering was fun – awesome campground, easy to get to the water to float – weather was hot, but perfect.
Were you camping at Mistletoe? I think I drove out to there the weekend I spent in Evans, GA for the BBQ and Blues festival I went to a few years back.
Petersburg – its down the road a piece from Mistletoe.
like 5-10 miles. we were right by the dam at the GA/SC line.
