Something came up and it is unfortunately going to prevent me from attending lunch today. I was really looking forward to seeing you guys, and of course meeting HWC and Lurker! Boo! 😢😢😢
Bummer! We’ll schedule another one (depending upon how today goes). 🙃
And I had Trivia Questions prepared!
“Next time…”

Fail! Another time.
dryers.
A quiet night- a planned run became clean the barn and put up the speakers so I can hear the radio (when we clean the barn). There were spits of rain, but I let the horses out (they wouldn’t have been much help anyway). Then after the sun went down the skies opened up. I knew it was going to be bad as the satellite started getting wonky long before (5 minutes) before the first rain was heard. That takes a lot of water in the sky.
My 10:00 meeting got moved to 1PM, so I’ll be on time for the pick up.

Dangen! I had the post perfectly typed and the my internet connection crapped out. I thought I had cut and pasted the entire post, but obviously not.
I’ve got no conflicts – except today has gotten busy (these stupid shippers, its Thursday – and freight HAS to pickup by tomorrow? REALLY? you didn’t know about this freight before this morning???)
So – we will see if it happens, truck drivers like long weekends as much as the rest of us.
BUT – I’ll still be there – I had no breakfast!
And in the Vuelta.. like I said the other day, Wayne has never met a penalty he didn’t like:

LUNCH WAS AWESOME!!!!
thanks for meeting us David – hope the trivia questions don’t scare you away for the next time.
(and- I can’t wait to use my bottle opener)
Rats, I was hoping to be first. 🙂
It was a pleasure meeting you, David, and on such an occasion how could I not eat meat? 🙄 My Chicken sandwich was delicious, and the entertainment fantastic.
Bonnie, you may have gotten a parting gift even though you had to miss out.
I’m stuffed! Glad I didn’t eat all the fries. Great to meet you David. HwC, thanks for being the wheelman.
And I am a wee little bit sorry that I did…
Pssst…, hey everyone except Paulie, we’ll be hearing about this on Tuesday… 😉 😉 😉 See, I have my keyboard back. 🙂
That was a lovely lunch. As I said at the table, I’m honored that you guys would take time out of your day to meet me. I have to teach for 3 hours this afternoon, so I chose carefully off of the menu. It’s easy to not need to eat for 3 days after an OK Cafe visit.
Paulie, not sure if my egg salad sandwich counts as a meat on your scale? 🙂
Barb, the trivia questions were fine, I could have answered the one about 285, gotten pretty close on the AT length, and had a shot at the distance to the sun. Sports, though, swing and a miss for me, every time. It’s OK, that frees up my weekends a great deal.
Thanks again, ya’ll. That was a big challenge for me, and I very nearly bailed at the last minute, but I’m so glad I got to spend a bit of time with you Paulie, Barb, Steve, and John.
I’m really bummed I couldn’t be there, but super glad you took the leap of faith to show up. Not a small victory, I’m sure! As you now know, you couldn’t ask for a nicer, more accepting group of folks.
or a more insane group of people.
Thank you, Debbie. I knew there was a reason why I’ve been hanging around here for so long.
And maybe if we schedule for a Friday line the 2nd or 17th of November, I can bring Debbie.
I could have gone vegetarian when I heard you order the egg salad, but really wanted meat today. 😮
I’m glad it went well, and again, I’m sorry I had to bail. I enjoy reading your commentary, Lurker, and was looking forward to meeting you. I hope there’s a next time. I have something of social anxiety myself… sometimes I’m fine, sometimes I’m just a bit awkward, and other times I don’t do so well and get anxious and can’t think of a thing to say. I’m glad you went through with it!
And maybe next time we’ll get a table large enough so
Lurker isn’t as penned in as he was today. 😂
I did feel bad penning David in – but being Left handed, I wasn’t sure about elbowing the hell out of Paulie.
It’s OK, Barb, it made much more sense for me to scoot over. It was actually rare for me to show up early today, I usually get places exactly on time, But I remember Paulie’s mantra that on time is late, so I decided to honor that and show up early too.
I’m so glad I had the egg salad sandwich, I would have been dying while teaching today if I’d had anything that everyone else chose. 😉 Definitely some hard-fought knowledge for me there.
For those keeping score at home, I teach online, of course. So that no one can see me, they see my screen and hear my voice. The Internet has been good and bad for my anxiety. 🙂
Yeah, Paulie, you must have seen the “deer in the headlights” look flash across my face. 😉 I did better than I expected sitting in the middle. If I’m gonna face stuff, no sense going for any half-measures, so it’s all good.
Awww, thank you, Bonnie. It’s always been so easy for me to think that anxiety singled me out, but no, those of us with it are in good company, and have generally come by our anxiety honestly, at the hand of others.
I’m definitely getting better at having that perspective, and that’s also what motivated me to lean into it today, rather than away from it. Leaning away just gives the demons strength, they really don’t like sunlight shining on them.
I do hope we get to meet up at some point, Bonnie, then I won’t be the only one at the table sitting quietly. 😉 At one point Ham asked me to regale the table with some stories. The word regale just isn’t part of my vocabulary unless I have a keyboard in hand.
Great to see everybody at lunch, especially you David.
It was great fun…
I’m glad we set a tentative “next date” (early November 2018).
That will give us something of which to look forward.
I hope everybody enjoys their “bottle openers” and I trust the “trivia” was at least fun.
Until next time.

just warn me I need to study before the next lunch outing…….
Paulie – text me the address for the root canal place, I can figure out what would be the best meet-up place for lunch.
