Made two Instant Pot dishes last night; you win some, you lose some.
Win: Curried Carrot Red Lentil Soup. Though soup is rarely a go to meal for me when it is this hot, I wanted to use up some of the lentils that reside in my cupboard.
Loss: Crispy Polenta Bites. The recipe called for Cajun seasoning and I used a creole seasoning mix that must have been 99% salt because saltiness was the only “flavor†I could taste. After eating three spoonfuls the rest went into the trash.
Last week I started reccying my next Monday night trail. Today I discovered the small stand of trees that I planned to include has been in midtown for years has been plowed down since last Friday. Sometimes I really hate this town.
the developers in town have figured out a way to get rid of trees, even with all the rules against it.
I’ve been trying to figure out from your picture where that is, Paulie?
I was standing on Argonne just before getting to Ponce on my walk from the Waschsalon to Krispy Kreme.
It was a really small stand of trees, but I thought it would be cool to take people through it.
What Monday is your trail?
Haven’t committed to a date yet, I am just starting to scheme.
We had some friends over for dinner last night, and we cooked too much food, and have some leftover chicken. I need to figure out some recipes that need cooked chicken. Soup is easy, but as you said, it isn’t really a summery food.
I may make some chicken salad. I so rarely make chicken salad.
Small stand of trees? Where was that?
The car is acting up again- the ground wire to the starter is suspect. Though as I type this, I’m questioning myself. Yesterday, I left the office to drive to Stone Mountain- wouldn’t start. Jiggle the wires and started. Make a stop, no issues. Leave the meeting to drive to a better parking place where I can change into riding clothes, no issues. Go ride, load bike, hop in, nothing. Futz with it some more, and even have a stranger sit in the car and turn the key while I jiggle the wires, nothing. Finally ground the negative terminal to the bracket holding the battery using a screwdriver- success. And this morning, no problem. Screwy.
My ride last night was poor. Probably deciding to go up “the wall” early in the ride was a poor choice. I think I got 11, but I’m not sure as my electronics on the bike were also having issues.
I see a trend…

Yes, I see a trend of electrical issues………..
I hope the rain stays away, we really want to get out & do some riding this weekend.
Your electrical issues are my glass issues (broken iPhone screen, scratched watch face, chipped windshield…)
These trees were across Ponce from from Krispy Kreme, between the tire rim place and some apartments/condos. I peeked in last Friday and thought I saw a little homeless encampment. Today, it’s 95% cleared.
Oh! I see it now.
Paulie- did you know Kevin is town? Sani said for us to swing by her house tonight.
Not sure why Kevin is in town – he said for a concert at the Tabernacle on Saturday night, but I have a hard time believing that he’d fly home from CO for that.
Yeah, she told me on Monday but I never inquired as to why he was here. I may go over there, or I may be lazy.
Hopefully traffic won’t be horrible to get across the top end, since Kevin didn’t come meet us in Vail, I need to give him crap about that no show in person. (I know why he had to bail, but I still need to pick on him)
Holy shit. Anthony Bourdain was found dead.
Yeah, heard that at the Waschsalon. Another celebrity suicide…
Betsy and I were talking about him Wednesday as we sat watching an old Top Chef episode in which he appeared. Sad.
I wonder about this suicide, was he into drugs at all?
or – more mental illness issues?
I think he was a drug addict and has been in recovery for a long time, but I could be remembering wrong.
It’s really bummed me out today.
I’m not a soup-in-summertime type of girl either but I swear y’all have me craving soup today now.
TODAY IS MY LAST DAY!!!!!
now I get to have 2 weeks off.
I’m very excited.
