Another quarter of German classes has come to an end. Admittedly, this was far from my best quarter, mostly because I did not put in the effort. I will attempt to rectify this deficiency when classes resume mid-April.

I read an interesting article the other day about learning a foreign language by watching TV (in the language) with subtitles. I wonder if I could find some German children shows with English subtitles??

A good half hour on the spin bike at lunch yesterday. Last night, prepared the barn to bring the horses home this weekend. Looking at installing some sort of French drain around the barn to control water. And we need gravel… lots of gravel.

Arschloch! One of my mom’s favorites! I inherently knew not to repeat anything my mom said within earshot of anyone who spoke German.

well – its been a crazy couple days here at the office – they really are going to be screwed when I leave.
And- to top off all of that – Allan managed to get taken out on his motorcycle last night on the way home form work – he is just very banged up, and the new bike is most likely totaled. Some guy took a left turn right in front of him, no way to avoid t-boning the car. Lots of witnesses. He got to spend the evening in the ER -but they sprung him after a few hours. He doesn’t want the word to get out- but he trusts you guys here – nothing on FB about it.

    • Ouch, that sucks but I am glad it’s not worse. I guarantee that I won’t post on FB. 😂

OMG Barb! I’m so sorry to hear all that! Mum’s the word, of COURSE…but gosh, I’m so glad he’s okay! That is so frightening. I sure hope that driver was properly insured and taking responsibility for this like he should be (and it won’t turn into a bigger headache in court or anything).

      • Barb says:

REALLY – we don’t want TJ & Mary to know about it yet…….

I hope he’s got the insurance info – the cops took care of that stuff I guess???
he’s notified his insurance – I’m sure it will be interesting.
Let’s hope it never had to go to court – but he’s got a nice note from a lady that was a witness – she took pictures & everything.

I’d check and make sure he wasn’t ticketed as well. Sometimes the cops write both parties a ticket and make the judge sort it out. I’m sure it was a melee at the scene.

I had a minor car accident in Maine when I was 21, and didn’t know that a ticket was issued until 30 years later when I went to renew my driver’s license. Talk about the long arm of the law…those things don’t just age off, and Maine had just recently hooked their database up to the national system. Fortunately a phone call and a credit card was all that I needed to resolve it, but that’s the first time in my life I’ve had a suspended license, if only for an hour or so.

That’s a scary event, and a reminder of how quickly our lives can change in an instant. It sounds like it’s worked out as well as it could have for such an event.

Damn!! Been there, done that. Glad he’s not badly hurt. I don’t think you’ll be able to hide it from them for long. They’ll notice something ain’t right. And he’s probably more sore today too!

      • Barb says:

yes- we know we can’t hide it long, but he just doesn’t want to talk to mom about the dangers of the motorcycle……….. yet.
I say we just get an electric car – that will solve the HOV lane issue.

Wow! That really sucks! Glad he is mostly OK. I would hate to have that conversation with Mary and TJ.
