Yawn…
It’s the morning after the Georgia/Alabama game, and odd as it may seem, my life is pretty much the same as it was. No better, no worse. I am a bit sleepy.
Garage door repair dudes (long story) were supposed to be here between 7:00-9:00am. And call 30 minutes prior to arrival. Looks like that ain’t going to happen. Update: Dude just called, “Running late, see you at 10:00 am”. “Sure…”
I managed to cobble together an “even better jury rigged” solution for my condensate-producing furnace. A 3/8″ hole in drywall, 20 feet of 3/8″ copper tubing (discounted by $6 by the Home Depot Plumbing Supervisor) run from the furnace into an unfinished basement bathroom tub drain, problem solved. It ain’t pretty, but it won’t freeze up anymore either.
In other news, my Mother (92) has been approved for Medicare-covered “palliative care”. She’ll now see a real nurse 3 x week and additional care as ordered. This should help considerably with her recently fractured femur.
Free Ham Radio testing provided by the Atlanta Radio Club, this Sunday at Noon, at Peachtree Dekalb Airport. Come on out, answer 70% of 35 question correctly and you get your very own Ham Radio license. Practice tests on-line. When (a Trump-provoked, right?) North Korea dude presses his “big button”, at least you’ll be able to communicate with any survivors. Come on, you know you want to do it.
There was a game last night? I didn’t realize that. 😂 Headline should read “Team who didn’t even play for their Conference Championship wins National Championship!†The system remains broken…
My sister (AKA, the “smart one”) is in town for a few days for Mother’s birthday (10th). Turning the World upside down while here, then back to BOS. Weee.
My Mom is pretty tough. But she is 92. A full leg cast can wear anybody down. The good news is, despite pain from the significant fracture, x-rays and casting, she remembers little of the painful ordeal. The positive aspect of dementia.
BTW: My 3D printer is back on-line. Back to “printing Bitcoins”. The search continues for something useful, for which to use it.
John- I have a garage door repair friend- if they don’t show – Dunwoody Door Lift. Jon lives by Emory, so he might really show up.
and- fractured femur??? Owwwww – that recovery sounds like no fun at all.
Watched the game off & on – saw it go into OT – turned the channel for a few, and the game was over. I really felt like it was repeat of the Falcons/Patriots Superbowl. I really thing Nick Saban is a great coach to pull that off.
Allan got to hang out downtown- said it was pretty boring over all – there were big screens in Centennial Park -but he didn’t want to hang outside the whole time
watching.
Many thanks for the referral. I have noted for future reference. Our garage door is some high-end deal that “came withte house” (we bought a foreclosure white elephant, as is). A lower panel needs replacement because…”somebody” backed into it, when the door failed to raise completely. The guys we’re using, “Garage Doors of blah, blah blah” had to order the panel. But they are “certified gold, super extra special” for this line of doors. That took a few weeks. I have confidence these guys will do a good job, if they actually make it here. 🙂
I’m obviously dragging as I watched the game to the end last night. We won, but it could have easily gone the other way and the Dawgs can hold their heads high. Shame, some of the Alabama players couldn’t control their emotions- even with their own coaches.
We were esentially dismissed at noon yesterday. I left about 1 and was on 2 conference calls from the Lowes parking lot beginning at 2. My bank phone had copped an attitude and wanted a new Apple password. The reset of my account was scheduled to take 23 hours- WTF, O? Rebooting the phone again finally brought it online and I could use it as a hotspot. (still waiting on the Apple reset BTW).
well bummer.
my door guy (Jon with no h) had to special order us new big ass springs – our garage door is 1 big door – 9 feet high & I can’t remember how wide, but extra wide.
hope you get it worked out.
A walk to the Amazon Storefront on 5th gave me the opportunity to eat a wonderful hamburger (yes, beef) at Barrelhouse. I may have also had a beer with lunch. 😉
Whoa, whoa, whoa…who hacked Paulie’s blog today and wrote positive thoughts? 😉

Not sure it’s useful, but hey, I’m not one to judge here: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/03/style/doob-action-figure.html
