Guess I forgot to post yesterday. Must have been the cold weather.

it took me a while to warm up at the bowling alley -that’s for sure.
I thought my phone died yesterday, but I guess it just didn’t like the cold.
Once it warmed up, it is working just fine again. I really didn’t want to have to buy a phone today.
Weekend was fun- kept pretty busy. Even got some exercise – did a nice 5 mile hike on Saturday, and hashed Monday- even the shorter easier trail was atleast 4 or more miles.
Batteries, especially older ones, really hate cold weather.
I haven’t exercised since Friday; that changes tonight.
The news guys scared me this morning with the “your car might not start up this morning” bit. Well crap. It didn’t even occur to me to worry about that! Thankfully mine started right on up no problem. (this comment because they say most of the time it’s an old battery that causes this)
One thing for sure: it’s times like this that I’m so super happy for that “heat included” in rent price. My place is so warm and cozy! My friends back home always laugh at me when I tell them about that bonus (“In Atlanta? That can’t be much of a special savings!”). Oh right now it sure is!
I don’t let the ITP Estate get warm and cozy in the winter. But then I don’t mind warm clothes and sweaters when I am at home either.
I have been expecting my three-year-old car battery to fail, but though it struggles to crank the engine, it has worked each and every time so far.
Mine’s 5 years old and still working like a charm! (knock on wood)
I can tell you this, all the truck drivers are saying their batteries won’t start today, but I think the -20 degrees in the Midwest means they may not be lying.
Just what we need after a holiday weekend.
My Edmontonian friend told me of the heater blocks they have for their cars.
I asked why people would live in such climates.
Except for breathing the cold air yesterday, the running wasn’t bad. Of course, since I haven’t been running, I’m crying this morning.
An amazing game for UGA last night. Glad Alabama spanked Clems son last night. And it wasn’t close, which is good. Should be a great game Monday.
Enjoying my well planned day off by having breakfast at the Huddle.

Worst possible outcomes for me yesterday (bowling and football!) I shan’t be watching the National Championship Game, and will be reluctantly rooting for Bama.
Oh yeah, like far too many Americans I start my attempt to lose weight today. How?
1. I’m going back to my 5/7ths vegetarian diet (vegetarian five days, can eat meat the other two)
2. Exercise at least five days a week.
And this year’s theme is “Off the Floor†— meaning I will get all things that don’t belong on the floor off, and attempt to keep the floors clean all year long.
If you truly want to break your cycles once and for all, start with this book:
https://www.amazon.com/Running-Empty-Overcome-Childhood-Emotional/dp/161448242X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1514926878&sr=8-1&keywords=running+on+empty
This isn’t about throwing your parents or anyone under the bus. It’s about identifying what you somehow you didn’t get earlier in life that is now put you in a serious spin/self-sabotage cycle. Unlike many books it’s not about “what happened to you”, this is more about “what didn’t happen to you”. How do you describe something you didn’t get? Yet the effects on you are legion. And they’re textbook. Do “this” to a child, and “that” happens.
This book has connected an unbelievable number of dots for me, and proves yet again we can’t just shrug this shit off. Well, we can, if want to keep living it over and over again.
If you don’t think you need to read this book, take a spin back through your early January blogs and see how many times you’ve written the same goals over and over. No judgments here…I’ve been doing the same damn thing. And I’m over it.
