AMN

You may have heard of “AMA” — “Ask Me Anything”, today’s blog post will be an “AMN” — “Ask Me Nothing”. I’m not trying to be mean nor antisocial, it’s just that for the first part of today I will be knee-deep in work, and after my daily status meeting I will be on the road to Raleigh and unable to respond.

Did I Forget This?
I think I may have mentioned buying a ticket for “A Christmas Carol” at Shakespeare Tavern on December 23rd. I am so looking forward to this, as it’s turning out to be my favorite holiday tradition. Unless Horizon Theatre can settle the dispute which had them change the way “The Santaland Diaries” is performed I may not return this year; it was such a disappointment last year.

Catching Up
I had the pleasure of eating lunch with an old Echostar colleague Al, who has confessed to not having read the blog recently. WTF??? (Speaking of lost souls, has anyone talked to ITP-Reader Bob in a while? He’s been suspiciously quiet.)

A bunch of other former Echostarians are meeting up for lunch at Cafe Agora, and obviously I cannot, so that is where Al and I ate lunch yesterday. My gyro sandwich, french fries, and Sprite did little to improve my figure, but damn they were tasty.

Al and I used to ride bicycles together until he, who is eleven years my junior, got much faster and I got debilitatingly injured.

It’s always good to catch up with friends you’ve not seen in a while.

Haircut And Heavy Traffic – Two Bits
I went to my scheduled haircut appointment after work yesterday, and then got frustrated as hell with traffic trying to get from Ansley Mall to East Atlanta. Things got so bad that I pulled into Hand in Hand‘s parking lot and stopped in for a beer, okay, two beers.

I briefly considered eating dinner out until I recalled the butt end of pork loin and the rolls that will all be inedible by the time I return from Raleigh.

Meet The Neighbors
If only I had stopped into Neighbors Pub instead of Hand in Hand their would have been a bit of kismet to my evening.

I met my new neighbors last night, a seemingly friendly young couple who must have purchased the house next to mine. I am uncertain because I never saw a for sale sign posted.

They were out looking for their cat when I pulled into my driveway, and then introduced themselves as I went out to get my mail.

I assume that they have purchased since they are doing an inordinate amount of renovation for renters.

Renovation, what a concept!

Sleepy Time
Last night I was supposed to pack for my trip today, and work on my app the build system I am putting together for my app, as well as German homework. Instead I fell asleep super early, only to be awakened around 11:00pm by a phone call from my mother. After a nice talk I hung up, and immediately returned to sleeping. So much for productivity.

Have a great Pre Solar Eclipse Weekend! I’ll be blogging from Raleigh on Monday.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

    I’m not dead yet!

I’ve been lurking a bit and not jumping in on the conversations. Riding some and getting Travis ready for another year of cub scouts. I think I’m more in to it than he is, one more year after this and he will transition in to boy scouts if he wants to and I’ll be free of my scout leader duties (haha, doody).

Heading up to Murphy NC to watch the eclipse (through some hard to find glasses) at a buddy’s place with a bunch of hooligans. Hope you all have a good weekend too!

Tell the Raleigh crew we say hey!

“An American in Paris” (currently at the Fox) was decent (my highest praise for this sort of thing). Though the storyline was a bit convoluted and dragged, I especially enjoyed the stage scenery and creative use of backdrops and lighting. I strongly suspect computers were involved.

    That’s it from Decatur.

So, why the need for the Fire Marshall? is there smoke or fog to they have to turn off the sprinkler system? (or really, I don’t know, they might always have someone there for every performance or everything there…… )

I worked way too much yesterday (almost 12 hours) and then had no idea for dinner, so we went & got wings – and of course beer. Special was Southbound beers – they were ok, nothing to write home about.

Barb, I was kinda under the impression that a gathering above a certain head count would have a fire marshal. I could be wrong… I wonder who we could ask? (I crack myself up)

Our current plan is to be in Anderson SC for the eclipse. Debbie found this celebration put on by the town and we’re game, but don’t think for a minute we won’t bail to some side of the road in rural SC if the traffic gets bad.

Found a new Mexican place last night. A chain, I believe- at least the menu would indicate. Debbie ordered a blackberry margarita which wasn’t very good and cost 12.50!!! That won’t happen again.

Have a great weekend. Our best to the Raleigh Royalty. Hi Bob!!
