I am typing today’s blog post using a Bluetooth keyboard that is communicating with my new iPad Mini 4! Admittedly typing on this keyboard, which is very cramped to accommodate the length of the iPad, is a little harder than I had anticipated. Many, many years of typing as part of my profession has trained my fingers to make certain maneuvers that are not identical to what is needed to hit the proper keys. But I will continue trying.
While fine for typing in English, this keyboard will be useless for typing up German texts. Oh well, for that I will have to return to the method of typing on the pane of glass that is the iPad’s built-in keyboard.
Homebody
Because I had been alerted to the delivery of my new keyboard, and since I have no faith in Humankind to leave well enough alone, it canceled all of my post-work plans and went directly home. Of course the package was on the front stoop, but at least this delivery person tried to hide it a bit behind the ironwork.
A body at rest stays at rest. It’s not my theory, it’s a Law of Physics! Anyway, I was at home, figured out what I could throw together in the name of “dinner” and decided to stay at rest for the rest of the evening. Minor advances were made in the name of “progress” but nothing about which I can boast.
No smoke detector noises were heard all evening.
Back To Minimalism
This afternoon I have my (hopefully) final physical therapy session. After therapy I plan to go somewhere I have not been in far too long — LA Fitness.
Even though physical therapy is in Old Fourth Ward I will be reversing my direction to go to the LA Fitness in Atlantic Station, or perhaps the one near Fifth Street; traffic will dictate my decision.
Also on the busy docket for this evening are trips to — IKEA, Warby Parker, Target, Lowes, and a yet-to-be-determined place to eat dinner — not necessarily in that order.
Assuming that I have any gumption left when I arrive home I will resurrect my desire to rid my house of unneeded shit.
Have a great Thursday.
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
Well that plan didn’t last long. Apparently my PT has hurt herself and has to cancel my appointment today. At least she knows what exercises she’ll need to do in order to feel better…
This does make my afternoon easier to manage as I will not have to return to midtown/Westside from O4W.
“If a smoke detector goes off, and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”
😉
I declare your hip “all better”. So, what as that 2-3 months?
(Sounds about right for somebody…wait for it…as old as you.) j/k
And speaking of “old stuff”:

Spur of the moment, yesterday we ran up to the “The Battery” (Sun Trust Park) for a look-around and some Antico Pizza. Free parking (4 hours), in the “Red” lot (at lunch at least). Antico was faithful to the original location, but sort of “squeaky clean” and without character. Missing were those cans of juice, pomegranate/orange, etc. I settled for …water.
Lots of stores, restaurants, and retail. Many (most?) of which are not yet open for business. Many places to grab a beer and a bite to eat.
There was even a John Schuerholz (and small entourage) sighting.

The fall occurred 4/9. I declare myself 98% healed, potentially as good as it’s going to get.
I’ve not deemed the smoke detector issue closed, that’s why Lowes is on my agenda today.
Why is a ball point pen amongst the old stuff? Is handwriting not cool?
The plan for today was scuttled at a very early hour. When I set my alarm last night, I forgot to allow for my eye appointment at 7:40 and give myself an extra almost hour of sleep. I dutifully rolled out of bed at 04:50, hopped into the shower and once out remembered the appt. DAMNIT!! No point in going back to bed, as my hair was wet and would come out all fubar’d if I had. I drove on in hoping to locate a breakfast spot. Cruised through several likely candidates which were either no longer in business or not open that early. Finally spotted the “new” WH in Decatur, just off the square. At least new to me… ugh, I’d have rather had another hour sleep.
A run last night has convinced me to start running more regularly. Too many walk breaks for such a short run.
Apparently the sunset was amazing from many vantage points around Atlanta. I have had many friends on social media post wonderful pictures- the current owners of JEFDSDR among them (sniff…).
