Happy Birthday Bro

I know you won’t read this today because you have better things to do, but just in case…

Night Rider
No, not Knight Rider.

It was a weird day yesterday.

I had another good meeting with the company I’ve been courting. If all goes well I think I will be getting a job offer next week.

From the undisclosed location I drove up to Brookhaven, so now you know that the location is south of Brookhaven (hooray!). As I mentioned yesterday I planned to go to a library up there and then to Town Brookhaven for a workout, shopping, and dinner.

My “mistake” may have been eating a large lunch because when I spent some time at the Chamblee Public Library all I wanted to do was head home.

After bagging my Town Brookhaven plans I drove down to Decatur where I stopped into Twain’s for a couple of beers. Upon getting home I started watching some Parks and Recreation, and falling asleep.

I was awake again around 6:00pm, at which time I ate some dinner. Once I allowed my food to settle I went downstairs and mounted the trainer for another 80-minute ride.

Oh look! The Wahoo Fitness app lost communication with the Wahoo Fitness Tickr heart rate monitor that I was wearing:
Flatlined
Had Wahoo hired me I could look into this problem. Of course it could be a Bluetooth bug with iOS or with my iPhone SE, but being blamed is part of the life of a mobile software developer.

Come Ride With Me
Here are some cycling events that are on my calendar:
04/21-04/23: BRAG Spring Tune Up
04/29: Bo Bikes Bama (registration opens 02/09)
05/27-05/28: Challenge Of The Centuries
06/17: Jackson County Brevet

More to come…

If you enjoy cycling you should consider riding with me.

Here I Go Again
Even if I had ruined my workout streak yesterday it would have come to an end today as I spend seven/eight hours on the road to Raleigh. I am hoping to have a wonderful weekend up in North Carolina, and the you have one wherever you find yourself.

While it may be an unpopular choice in a household of Packers fans I will be rooting for the Falcons in the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

I bet they’d rather have the Falcons win than the Patriots. Just a guess………
    have a fun trip

Fingers crossed. SoBR (South of Brookhaven, pronounced “sober”) would be a much better commute. (I crack myself up).

Late in this morning as Debbie spent the night in the wilds of Marietta with her geographically challenged sister (Where’s the hotel? Near a Starbucks.) and 2 nieces (ugh). They were supposed to start prepping Andy at 4:30… as of 7:30 he was just going back and as of 9:00 they took him into surgery. Prayers please.

The dogs and I had a quiet evening. They started coming unglued yesterday afternoon as the neighbor was getting his driveway paved. They could see activity and knew we were under attack. We walked over to inspect the work and they were all “Hey, how you doin?” Idiots.

Safe travels. I can only root for the Falcons as they are the lesser of 2 evils. Go Pack!

there is a Starbucks pretty close to the hospital -but I’m not sure there is a hotel near there…….
She needs to head over the Red Eyed Mule & get a burger…….. now I want a burger.

Late word is Andy came through with flying colors and they did all 6 (not just the quad, as advertised). Holy crap.

  4. Stacy says:

Wow! That’s wonderful news, Steve! 🙂

  5. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Hello from Raleigh. Great news, Steve!

  6. Al says:

I’d like to join you in these rides. But, if I’m driving to these events I’m doing the century. I find it silly to spend almost the same time driving as riding.

About your workout streak: I think rest days are part of the workout routine. You’re not getting fitter if you don’t give your body time to rebuild and improve by recovering from the workouts.
Also, why the 1:20 ? I noticed you are doing these very easy spinning at low heart rate rides for 1:20. You must have sit-bones made of Titanium.
What I’m doing now is a hard 30-45 minutes high intensity workout.
I had a ride today, and I have to say that I feel a lot better than at this time last year. I think the structured workouts help.

    Enjoy freedom while it lasts!

    • Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

1:20 is a function of the shows I am watching, and my routine; I spin easily for 15:00, for the next 45 minutes I increase my gears, I the do 15:00 of high cadence and the 5:00 of cool down.

      • Al says:

        Gotcha,
I’d still do the short intense session and watch the rest of the show while keeled over cursing the universe.
