I had a decent 26 mile ride last night. Three other gents and I tooled around at a pace faster than I’ve been able to obtain on my own. By the time I arrived home, past 9:00pm, I was bushed but still had to put some sort of food into my stomach; I chose macaroni and cheese.
Let me tell you how hard it is not to eat the entire box’s worth of macaroni and cheese when you are hungry… With my half-box (still too much food) I drank about a half glass of red wine. Yes, I was so tired that I couldn’t even finish an entire glass of wine.
Ye Olde Shitty Commute
The reason the blog is late this morning is two-fold.
First, I fell back asleep this morning and didn’t get out of the house until after 8:30am.
If you’ve ever looked at Google Maps for Atlanta’s traffic after 8:30am you’ll know that getting from East Atlanta to Perimeter Mall at that time is an exercise in frustration. To calm my nerves I ate an amazing breakfast this morning at Folk Art in Inman Park. My breakfast more than ruined the discipline from last night, but given how late I ate breakfast it is also serving as my lunch today.
While in the restroom of Folk Art I saw this old menu:
I couldn’t help but snap a photo.
Gone But Not Forgotten
In the past two days I’ve been surprised by the closure of two establishments. Last night as I turned my ride back toward the office I noticed that Peachtree Bikes closed the Hildebrand Street location. However, have moved to a new location further down Roswell Road, gloriously inside the perimeter. 🙂
This morning I noticed that Morelli’s has closed its Edgewood Retail District location. Thankfully the ITP Estate is close enough to the original location for me to get an ice cream fix every once in awhile.
I’ll must now go until tomorrow. Please don’t forget about me.
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
Oh yeah, ITP-Reader Stacy: what is a “Facebook Responder” and for whom am I one? I still get email notifications when I am mentioned or tagged — I just choose never to log into my account.
And, according to Google Maps, 1879 Cheshire Bridge Road, Atlanta, GA (the address you probably can’t read in my photo) is the current home of The Colonnade. 😀
the 25 cent box of mac n cheese (that you need to add milk & butter) or the $2 deluxe box that had the cheese sauce packet?
(I’m a deluxe girl myself – so much easier)
I was somewhat productive last night – washed my car in the driveway (and this morning realized I did a crappy job of it), painted some Kilz on some knot holes that were never properly sealed in the mud room (tonight or sometime soon I need to find the real paint to finish that job), and vacuumed the house – started with some dirt from shoes in the mud room, then decided I ought to do the whole house. I hate cleaning, so Allan was thrilled when I told him what I had done, I keep begging for a cleaning person, but I get veto’d. Did some kitchen stuff too.
Has anyone been watching Survivor? I got caught up on that show – this season has gotten better as its gone on – some good blindsides have beeen happening.
I have absolutely not a clue what a “Facebook Responder” is!
The $2.50 box, it had some chipotle spice packet included. 🙂
Bravo, Barb! Bravo!
I’m still not on the Survivor bandwagon again. I have been keeping up with The Amazing Race, but I have little interest in the teams other than the guys that went to the University of Florida.
Huh, I wonder why I was recommended as someone’s then… And enjoy your burger tonight! As for me I’ll be studying German while doing laundry.
I rode 22 on the CX bike last night and felt like crap most of the way. I didn’t put air in the back tire like I should have, so was extra careful on the gravel sections. And there were some big holes and boulders looking for my tires.
The other thing evident last night were bugs! I ingested about 4 and had quite a few impact my arms and face. Too small to react to prior to hitting me. It was just starting twilight when I was coming in, so prime time for sure.
We were ready for bed and I had let Zelda out. When Debbie brought her back in, she was full of piss and vinegar! A bad case of the zoomies- it took her a while to settle down. Being in bed was no protection as she would run full speed and hop on the bed as if it was still level ground. That child…
Last day at work before vacation!!!

Steve – where are you going on vacation?
Steve’s a farmer again, I’m sure vacation = “working the land” 🙂
I swallowed at least one bug last night on my journey around “North Buckhead” as well.
The Rolex 3 Day happens in Lexington KY the last weekend of April every year. Friday is dressage (boring), Saturday is cross country (!!!) and Sunday is show jumping. And of course there is shopping (if you like horse stuff).
This is our 10th anniversary trip, so we’ll also be doing some bourbon tasting and a breeding stable tour. Staying at an AirBnB in downtown Lex. We won’t leave until Wednesday, so chores for now! 🙂
I first thought “Wow, cyclists getting sponsored by Rolex?” and then quickly realized my mistake. Sounds like a fun trip — except for that mention of bourbon. 🙂
come on – Evans Williams is your friend!
Actually – lots of the other bourbon places sound better to me.
With friends like Evan Williams I don’t need enemies. LOL!
I don’t figure they will let you drink that much… but I might try.
BREAKING NEWS – Prince died today. Only telling you here because it is all over the internets. Dont’ want this to be the only place it isn’t mentioned.
WHAAAAA? And he just played a rescheduled concert in Atlanta last week! Wow.
So sad about Prince. Wish I had been lucky enough to see him last week in Atlanta. Several friends did and I was very jealous. 2016 has been hell on the music world.
