Unfamiliar Territory

Today’s theme was ready for action…

There we were in a new (to me) trivia establishment where we managed not to finish in first place (we came in second). And while this was happening the Green Bay Packers were bringing up the rear to the Detroit Lions, 0-17.

Imagine my surprise when I awoke to find out that the Packers came back to win the game.

Weekends Were Made For Losing Weight
I’ve put back on all of the weight that I lost this summer. Dangen! So this weekend, with the exception of tomorrow night when I will be going to Variety Playhouse for The Whiskey Gentry show, I will be moving, cleaning, exercising, basically doing things other than sitting on my ass and consuming calories.

What’cha all up to this weekend?

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Beer! I’m up to beer! (Big shocker, yes?)

I’m volunteering at the Strong Beer Festival at Wrecking Bar Brewpub (so if any ITP-readers are headed out there, come find me!), pouring deliciousness. Everything is high gravity and apparently there’s no limits (at 2 oz. pours each) so, yeah. It’s gonna end up being a hot mess. But also a ton of fun since I’ll be behind the bar.

Wooo Packers Packers Packers! I listened to the game in the car on the way home from trivia (thank you, SiriusXM) and then was surprised to find it on CBS (figured it would only be on NFL Network). I truly had given up though. YAY Rodgers-Rodgers!

But with no Packers on Sunday (woo! we can’t lose!), it looks like I have a free day. Not sure what I’ll get up to, though if the weather’s nice you can bet I’ll be out hoofing around town somewhere.

  2. I seemed to recall that it was on CBS, but honestly the way the Packers looked I had little hope of a comeback so I didn’t even turn the tv on.

Tonight – probbly not much. Making something for dinner with ground venison – either meatloaf or spaghetti.

Saturday – had considered going to Grant Park to watch some Cyclecross, (Bob & his crazy friends are racing – ChattaHoolicross @ Grant Park) but I doubt I will make it into town. I have a haircut in the later afternoon in Johns Creek with my old hairdresser that I haven’t seen in over 10 years – just decided what the hell, I should go see him. I’ve never found anyone on this side of town I really like.
hoping to meet another friend that lives in Gwinnett for lunch to make the trip worth my while.

Sunday will probably be working on the shed – that’s my guess.

I’d like to get a hike in tomorrow morning – so I’m working on finding someone to meet up with (I’m bad at going all by myself)

and – we watched it on NFL network – didn’t even notice it was on CBS.

I was watching that game last night until half time too. I got home and considered turning it back on but went to bed instead. Must have been great to watch them come back like that.

Cyclocross Saturday!! Come on out to Grant park to heckle and hand-up to the racers (Steve, don’t read that part). This is also a USAC CX NATL race so the Pro/Cat1 race will be awesome to watch.

    Handups? What handups?

Last night we met friends for dinner at Hunters Pub and Steakhouse, exit 25 on I-185 (yes, 25 miles from Columbus). An absolute hole in the wall, but damn the food was good. Debbie had a steak bigger than both hands put together and I had a piece of amberjack with lobster sauce. My oh my.

Off early tomorrow for the hunt in Dooly, but I’m taking my CX bike to try and keep up with the horses. Glad the local CX races are picking up some national exposure. Might have to start officiating them again!!

Sunday, passing the drainage pipe to the welder friend. That may not happen as his M-I-L was just admitted to hospice.

    Have a great weekend.

Tonight we’re going to Santaland Diaries. I WISH we could go to the Grant Park races but we’ve got some Mercer University author’s luncheon to go to at the Intercontinental in Buckhead. Tomorrow night we had tickets to the Brian Setzer Orchestra but Kevin’s team is in the ACC championship game against Clemson and he couldn’t live with himself if he didn’t watch it, so we’re trying to sell our tickets on Stubhub. Blerg.

Lots of blue and orange wandering around downtown here right now! Haven’t seen as much red yet.

Tiny amusement of the moment: I just looked over the beer list for tomorrow and this one is on there:

Creature Comforts, “Breakfast With Paul”, Imperial Coffee Stout, 8.3%

I’ll make sure to try that one. 😀
