SQUIRREL!!!
Laundry, CHECK!
If asked what accomplishments I made last evening the only one I can really check off is doing my laundry, which when swimmingly since it had only been seven days since the last time I did it. After arriving home and putting away all of the clean clothes I plopped onto my bed and watched this week’s episode of MasterChef.
I farted around (not literally) a little more before cashing in my chips (not literally) and falling asleep.
Good Ride This Morning
I pushed off about ten minutes later than scheduled but got in my 25+ mile ride this morning. It was huuuuuuumid! At points along my ride when I had to stop I’d tilt my head forward and literally watch a stream of water droplets fall from the front of my helmet. I consumed nearly two entire water bottles on my ride.
As rides of this one was pretty good though. There wasn’t much traffic, a scare here and there, and I didn’t puncture.
Off To Athens Tonight
When I heard that Cracker was going to play the 40 Watt with Atlanta-area band The Whiskey Gentry opening it was a no-brainer to buy a ticket for tonight’s show. Since I haven’t been to Athens in some time I also decided to spend Saturday night there.
My plan is to get in a long bike ride tomorrow morning (weather permitting), visit the Creature Comforts Brewery for their tour/tasting, kick around the Athens area, hit some of the bars, and eat a nice dinner somewhere, perhaps even spoiling myself by going to 5 & 10.
This is why I shan’t be at the spectacular housewarming to be held by ITP-Reader Jenka tomorrow.
The trip is tonight and I’ve still not completed all of my planning. Oh well.
What’s The Deal With Cycling Socks?
A few years ago it would have been a piece of cake (not literally) to find a whimiscal pair of cycling socks, usually DeFeet’s 3″ variety. I’ve been searching high and low and have not been finding much in the way of socks that please me. Is there a trend to wear taller socks while riding? If so, this is a trend I cannot support. Anyone have ideas where I should be shopping?

I know Cycleworks doesn’t have any fun socks anymore, that was a way I’d waste time if I had to wait for Allan.
The only socks they had were some plain white ones, that were a little taller.
Go to the DeFeet website, they still have lots of choices. (expensive as hell).
I bet there will be some vendors in Iowa selling socks.

Our weekend plans keep changing, but some how, some way, there will be a decently long ride happening. The only thing I know for sure is a Tasty China outing Saturday evening.
I’m just back from 26 miles and it seemed bloody hot out there. I don’t know what it was but I had no energy what whatever and contemplated stopping several times in order to cool off and catch my breath. I struggled through all the way to the turn to come in towards the house where I stopped and stretched before riding the last few miles in.
Tomorrow I think will go to the housewarming fairly early and then meet Debbie’s friend Meg for dinner somewhere in the city.
There will be a little gate work this weekend but at the moment I can’t think of anything beyond sitting my ass on this couch for a while.
