To be clear I’m on the edge of my bed. This morning I overslept, packed the bicycle into the M6 in hopes of getting in a ride this afternoon (because I slept too late to consider a morning ride), and then decided to knock out a quick blog post while waiting out the morning traffic rush.
From Perfection To Squeaking Out A Win
Last night the Marvelous Three went into the final question with a perfect score. I’m pleased to say that I helped out last night, though there were times at which I internally questioned the answer we turned in, thankfully overruled by my teammates.
And then we were asked the final question: “Name the last ten countries to either host or co-host the FIFA World Cup”.
Soccer?
Ugh.
A contentious discussion of World Cup hosts ensued (if former(?) ITP-Reader Terri were there she would have knocked this out of the park — wrong sports metaphor but you get my meaning), but fortunately we settled on ten, eight of which were correct.
Brazil
South Africa
France
Italy
Germany
Mexico
USA
South Korea
Japan
England
Can you spot the wrong ones?
I should probably mention that there seemed to be an error with the answers provided by the host as he skipped the 1990 World Cup which was held in Italy, so technically we got nine answers correct.
Regardless we managed to win the night with a scant one-point victory.
I was home by 10:45pm and was pooped. I managed to keep my eyes open long enough to watch this week’s MasterChef before falling asleep.
See You Sunday
I’m looking forward to seeing the Way-OTP Estate of ITP-Readers Steve and Debbie on Sunday. I’m also looking forward to getting in a ride down there.
Tomorrow I am going to make an effort to get all of my house chores done. I should probably mow the lawns (since I’ll be skipping town late next week) and perform a massive amount of cleaning, organizing, and de-cluttering.
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
A little yard work followed by a lazy evening. Debbie being on her feet all day at the clinic ruled out meeting you for trivia.
We were going to throw burgers on the grill after the ride Sunday. If you have another idea, speak up.

Burgers are never a bad idea. We will bring some snacks or something that go with burgers.
Went for a little ride last night, our little 16 mile loop over to (but not up, maybe next week) Kennesaw Mtn. Traffic was busy, but the drivers were in a much nicer mood it seemed. I didn’t feel like they were out to kill me for once.
Then made some dinner & watched Big Eyes – I really enjoyed that movie. I see why it was up for some awards last year.
I thought last week you said you were going up THIS week? That is a tough climb. Maybe halfway?
Steve, we were thinking about it, but I was hungry, and I wanted to watch the movie, so I decided we didn’t have time to climb.
