Back In Action

Last night I returned to German class. Having a month away was refreshing, but I should have done more refreshing during that time to prepare for last night. Luckily this is a for-pleasure endeavor so I wasn’t too concerned about being rusty. I smiled a bit last night when I saw my name on the list of 2014 financial donors to Goethe Institut. Speaking/Understanding German is on my Bucket List so it’s good that I help this resource remain in Atlanta for as long as I do.

In an effort to eat out less than I have been I eschewed the fair-to-midland fast food options Colony Square has to offer and ate a small snack at break time instead. Once home, at around 9:20pm, I quickly prepared a hamburger as my late-night dinner and watched some of Monday’s night’s “The Tonight Show” that I transferred to my iPad using the app I helped build for Dish Network last year. Because of the time I was very hungry, therefore the hamburger was delicious; or as I’d say in German, Lecker!

Today’s Secret Mission
Okay, it’s not really much of a secret.

Today I will be attending a focus group. The subject of the focus group is related to home repair, for which I am obviously an expert, and will last two hours. The thing that makes me chuckle and feel saddened is that the focus group will be held in the building next to the one in which I used to work. Geez, I miss working in that part of town…

Because attending the focus group will interfere with part of my normal work day I will be doing some coding at home tonight. Of course if there will be a George’s contingency tonight I could possibly have my arm twisted into having a pint before beginning my work night.

My Valentine’s Day Snubbing
Long time readers of InsideThePerimeter know all too well that it has been a very long time since I’ve been in a relationship. With no prospects on the horizon and the thought of Valentine’s Day being on a Saturday this year I think that I am going to attend the performance of “Waffle Palace” at Horizon Theatre that night. Sure there will be couples in attendance, as there always is are (something about subject/verb agreement…), but at least it won’t be a lovey-dovey thing for them to do.

If you are considering seeing “Waffle Palace” you may want to buy tickets today between noon and 5:00pm because they will be discounted during that time. While I can’t find reference about the sale on their site I did receive an email yesterday announcing it.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

I am just about over this foggy/not really raining crap… can’t walk at lunch, can’t ride my bike outside, traffic to Norcross and back home last night was just stupid. Uggh!

On a happier note, I decided today was Friday! After a long day Saturday, I’ll be comp’ing tomorrow and Friday is my regular day and Monday is MLK, so that’s a 5 day weekend. Not bad.

I presented a 50,000 ft view of our proposed front gate change to the committee last night and got little push back. Now have to make a more detailed drawing and figure out where everything will go. Oh what fun.

You? Focus group for home repair? Um, do they know who you are? πŸ™‚

  2. If you follow the adage “Those who cannot do teach” then I should have outstanding knowledge since I have certainly not done. πŸ˜‰

  3. Barb says:

Allan is working 2/14, want a date? I’d love to go see a play.

you in a focus group on home repair, that’s kind of funny.

  4. Sure Barb. I’ll buy a second ticket that will be yours.

  5. Barb says:

Most excellent, I haven’t been to the Horizon in forever. Let me know the ticket price so I can pay you back.
Just remind me……… I can be forgetful. LOL

  6. And if anyone else is interested in joining Barb and me, I found that the code to use at checkout is ONEDAY.

I also just found out that the sale is for tickets for the plays from Jan 23rd through February 8th. POOP.

  7. Barb tickets purchased (since the discount didn’t apply). You have the right of first refusal for the ticket (which was $30).

  8. Jenka says:

I just can’t ignore this sentence: “Sure there will be couples in attendance, as there always is, but at least it wonÒ€ℒt be a lovey-dovey thing for them to da.”

Should be “always ARE” and, obviously, “do.”

  9. Barb says:

    Jenka is back! Hi Jenka!

  10. De do do do, de da da da
Is all I want to say to you

Oh, and “Thank you” as well Jenka.

    LOL, Barb.

  11. Steve says:

“as they always is” would be hows they say it in EAV.

  12. Jenka says:

Sorry. Subject-verb plural/singular agreement is one of my major pet peeves. πŸ™‚

  13. Steve says:

And I normally catch those, too, but that one slipped by.

  14. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Please don’t be sorry. It’s one of the many reasons I love having you as a friend.
