A delicious lunch with Barb (and Allan at tasty China yesterday. Be warned-burs going in and a little later…

  2. Barb says:

    Burs?

So, I need everyone’s opinion. My parents have finally decided that they might want a computer. Steve gave me an idea of the Google Chromebook.
Anyone got any opinions? They have NEVER used a computer, and just need it for email & to look up stuff on the internet. I think this is the simplest thing I can find. I thougth about a tablet, but I think my mom would rather have a real keyboard & the touch screen would be too much. (I know, that sounds ridiculous, but…..)

    Scrambling…eggs? Now I’m hungry.

Barb, I think the Google Chromebook is a great idea! I’ve actually been considering the same for my Mom. Simple, easy and really affordable to boot. And I don’t think that sounds ridiculous at all. Quite frankly, even *I* prefer an actual keyboard.

  4. Barb says:

Stacy – I prefer a real keyboard too, but the virual one is okay. My mom was a secretary way back in the Mad Men days, so she wants to be able to “type”.

  5. bob says:

Barb, how about a tablet or iPad with a blue tooth keyboard? Best of both worlds.

Wow, just looked at the Chromebook. $199 gets you a pretty nice little laptop. Since they are just browsing the interwebs and sending emails it is not a bad deal there.

If all you are doing is online stuff the Chromebook sounds good.

  7. Steve says:

    Sorry – burns.
The latest report from Florida is the horse was WILD and will be staying there.

  8. Martha says:

The boys got Jerry’s mom a computer a few years back, pretty sure it’s still boxed up and stuffed in a closet.

  9. Barb says:

Steve – now we know why it was so cheap!

Bob – thought about a tablet – but those are more money. Until I know they will use it, we aren’t spending much.
And – some of the apps compared to the actual websites sometimes annoy me, so I think this will work better.

Martha – that’s exactly why I’m trying to find the simplest thing ever, I know they won’t use it if it is too complicated.

And – west to Best Buy at lunch – they are totally out of them, they couldn’t even order it for me. When I ever find one, I’m going to get it, play with it at home, get everything set up & know how it works, so I can hopefully field phone calls later on much better.
